What a horrible shopping experience we had here this weekend! I should have read the other reviews beforehand, but I was just so excited to have a reason to come to the cool suit store that I've walked by so many times before. Unfortunately, we learned that you need dedicated appointments in order to try anything on, and were snootily informed that their dedicated café downstairs is only for if you are "waiting for alterations or already are a client." The way we were spoken to was rude and pretentious and it seems like laughably bad customer service to make potential paying customers wait for over an hour while not being allowed to make purchases at their in-store cafe. If that's acceptable customer service for you, then this could be the place for you. read more

An awful experience all around. DON'T SHOP AT SUIT SUPPLY ON NEWBURY STREET. Some background info: I have a wedding that I'm attending on Saturday May 10th. Last year, I ordered a suit from suit supply (36S Jacket) and had it altered to be a bit smaller. The whole experience was great at that time. 2 visits to the store within a single week and the suit was perfect. This year, I wanted a new navy suit and once again ordered a 36S to be sized down a bit. Visit 1 (April 26th) : I brought the suit to the store to be altered. The associate told me I'd have to size down to a 34S (I've never been a 34S in my adult life). I told them this and she insisted I go down a size. Her being a professional, I listened and exchanged them to be delivered to the store. Visit 2 (April 28th): The new suit arrived and I came in to have it altered. Off the bat, one arm was way longer than the other (bad quality control) and the jacket was way too small. The associate said they could make it bigger and brought it in for alteration. Visit 3 (May 1st) : I came to pick up the altered suit and was told there'd be at least a half hour way TO TRY IT ON. I didn't have the time so I left with the suit. When I got home, the jacket was still way too small. I reached out to customer support on the suit supply website, and was told someone would contact me. Nobody ever did. I tried calling the store multiple times to speak to a manager and no one ever answered the phone. Visit 4 (May 05th): I came in once again to have the jacket altered to be bigger. This different associate said it couldn't be done and that there wasn't enough fabric to work with and that they could try their best. I was also told I couldn't get the original 36S in time for the wedding I was attending. I also couldn't get a refund as they had done alternations to the jacket. I elected to try and have the suit altered again. Visit 5 (May 8th): Nothing was altered, and the jacket is still too tight. I took the suit home as I have no time left before the wedding now. This whole experience was so frustrating and disappointing. At must, it should take 2-3 visits to this store to get your suit fitting perfectly. This location is very difficult to get to and park at so that should be considered as well. I shouldn't have been told to size down the jacket in the first place. I will be attempting to make a chargeback on my credit card as the suit was $599 + altering fees and the product I received was not close to being correct and customer service ignored me. read more

I scheduled back-to-back appointments at Indochino (down the street) and Suitsupply. The difference in customer service was night and day. The people working at Suitsupply were honestly the most indifferent I've encountered in a while. I had a consultation scheduled, and the representative who was helping me seemed very uninterested the whole time. He didn't provide much helpful information, rushed through the hour appointment in 15 minutes, and tried to serve me with a $760 bill at the end. I hadn't even gotten measurements or seen anything I definitely liked yet. It was the most expensive suit out of the options I've explored, and the most rushed, unhelpful consultation so far. After I said I wasn't prepared to make a purchase yet, the representative quickly left. He had immediately shifted whatever was left of his attention to another customer. I would say our experience was leaning more towards 2.5, but because the start was poor that's what's sticking in my head as I write this. We made an appointment for a Saturday but canceled and made an appointment for the following Sunday (today) and had confirmation emails to show. When we arrived, we were told that we had canceled our appointment but after confirming with the emails that we did not, we were told to go wait on the side. After waiting around 15-20 minutes and not being given any updates while they helped everyone else in the store, the guy at the front saw us and started talking into his earpiece that "the people who canceled their appointment need someone". I was already annoyed, since we had already proven that we did not cancel anything from our end and still had the cancellation confirmation for the first Saturday appointment but nothing for the second Sunday appointment except a confirmation email. Even if we had canceled it by accident (which we surely did not), we should not have been treated as an annoyance that they were doing a favor for, especially when looking to purchase thousands of dollars in suits for our wedding party. Finally we were taken upstairs and the guy who helped us was decently nice and knowledgeable but we could still tell he was treating it as a favor for "what was supposed to be a cancellation". They refused to make an appointment for me in person and referred me to their website. My fiancé and I had a consultation with Thomas and were disappointed with our experience. I booked the appointment about a week in advance, looking to review options for our wedding, and the appointment started 15 minutes late. We had a specific color palate in mind, but were looking for consultation on a custom suit, which we mentioned multiple times. The gentleman who checked us in had us looking at off-the-rack items, and it wasn't until the appointment started that we were allowed to browse the options for custom suits. Although our specific color palate was not in season yet, I had hoped to try on different styles for fit and preference. Thomas suggested we come back in 3 months, despite my request to at least try on fabrics that they had in store. While I can understand the exact inventory we were looking for not being available given the season, I was disappointed that Thomas would not provide us with style options and the opportunity to try suits on. Finally, I had noted that the style and color was most important to me, and that I would be willing to look at a wide range of price options. Thomas suggested that my wedding party would not want to spend as much as what we were looking at, and suggested I try out companies like Express and Bonobos (the latter of which I have actually tried before and visited Suitsupply since their options and quality were better). Suggesting that we would be better off going elsewhere was concerning, and I hope that this was just a bad consultation, and not a reflection of Suitsupply as a whole - especially given the wide array of options offered on the website. read more

I wanted to try Suitsupply given that I like to try newer brands and that I have driven/walked past their store on Newbury St several times. My first encounter with this particular store was when I phoned the store to ask a few question regarding sizes. Unfortunately, the conversation got increasingly unpleasant and I felt it was best to not engage any further- I did try to get the name of this person but he said "Why do you need my name" . At this point, I said I would like to have a reference for this call but he would not give it to me. I told him that I would be happy to take my business elsewhere. Really great experience at Suitsupply with Tyson. Came here on a Sunday afternoon to try on some suits, we did have to wait a little bit to have an appointment but we were invited to have an espresso on the house in the cafe downstairs. Great touch on their part and felt very cared for - the cafe was nice and there were quite a lot of people chilling there and doing work. Nice location and maybe would come back just for the cafe :) Tyson made the process fun and enjoyable. He was a great stylist and picked some suits that went along with what I was looking for right away, so it made the trying on process more efficient. I ended up loving one of the suits and made a purchase. The alteration did take a bit longer than expected but Tyson was very responsive during the process. I feel like the price was fair for the individual attention and the quality of the product that I received. I was also given a chance to try on the suit to make sure everything fit when I picked it up, although I did not have an appointment they were able to fit me in. read more

Extremely disappointed with our experience here. This is my first ever negative review of a clothing store. We worked with a gentleman called Adrian and came in with a very flexible budget which we were ready and willing to go above. However, he immediately showed minimal interest in providing further service and assisting us once he heard my fiancés flexible budget was about 150 dollars under the stores starting prices. He mentioned he had many waiting clients 3 times although we had waited over half an hour for the appointment. The representative was the most snobbish we have ever worked with and this was honestly the worst experience visiting any clothing store. We've been to 3 other places which were wonderful and I recommend literally going to any other suit/ tuxedo shop for standard service. read more

Our stylist, Daniel, was super helpful and gave great advice, but the process of getting suits for our wedding was extremely frustrating due to issues on the Suit Supply end of things. My partner ordered a suit that came in both in the wrong color and the dramatically wrong size, and then had to be re-made from scratch. My suit also came in the wrong fabric (it was labeled correctly but looked significantly different from the fabric swatch we had selected) and it took several weeks, and me calling them to follow up, for a solution to be found. Once is an understandable mistake, but for both of us to have these issues feels like a pattern and one that added needless stress before our wedding day. read more

Suitsupply was highly recommended on reddit as the go to suit store for any budget under $2000. Needless to say, I was excited to try on suits there. First time I went there, I was just stopping by. Looked at the suits, the material and everything felt like it was good quality. One of the sales rep was working with a customer and he seemed very involved, giving the customer feedback and suggestions. Keep in mind, customers need to have a sales rep with them to try on anything. I scheduled an appointment for myself and my brother in law on black Friday hoping they would have some deal. They didn't, no big deal because I was set on buying one regardless. I didn't know any of the reps so I hit random and they unfortunately assigned me to Shanshan. On the day of, no one was at the door asking for appointments. I walk in sit down in an area where some reps were, found Shanshan based on her picture they sent in my email confirmation. Waited close to 10 mins before she even bothered asking if we've been helped after which I told her I think I'm her next appointment. She told us she was wrapping up some paperwork for the previous customer, no big deal, we went upstairs to wait. In all we waited maybe 15-20 mins past our appointment. Again no big deal, sometimes things take longer than originally allotted for. But once she was there showing me suits, that's when the true experience started. The whole time she just had an I don't care attitude. Any time I wanted feedback on the fit of a suit, she would give the shortest answer possible as if I was bothering her. Then, one of her former coworkers came to visit and she just started to talk to him. Couldn't even get her attention and had to wait for her to finish talking to get any other things to try on. This happened at least 2 or 3 times as I was trying on suits. I decided to buy one anyways. I noted that I was interested in buying dress shirts as well and she said we could do that when I picked up the suit after the pants finished taloring. Fine. Fast forward to picking up my suit. (Pants were actually done tailoring after a couple days, pretty impressive.) Again, no one was at the door like they said there would be. After walking around a bit, I found someone to talk to and said I had an appointment with Shanshan to pick up my suit. I sit around a bit but she doesn't come, the original guy hands me my suit and also shirt and shoes to try. When I finish he was just gone. Couldn't find him at all. Still no Shanshan. At this point, I just gave up getting dress shirts there. No one bothered to follow up with me on the suit fit, no one bothered even finding me even though I had a reservation. With how highly rated suitsupply was online, I was deeply disappointed with the whole buying experience. I think the suit at the price point is hard to beat but the whole purchasing process was just so infuriating. I had seen other reps take the time to show other customers the clothes they were looking for. I wanted to give Shanshan the benefit of the doubt, maybe she was having a bad day. Gave her a second chance and she didn't even bother showing up at all. The reason I still gave 3 stars is I see that other reps are different and I'm semi optimistic that other people do better than Shanshan but she sets the bar pretty low. What a pretentious, disorganized, waste-of-time, tailor-wannabe store! I came in to get some simple white dress shirts. First they told us it was a 40 minutes wait for sizing. I said I know my size, the employee looked surprised (profiling for wealthy-looking people, maybe?) but told me where to find the shirts. Then it takes time to figure out how to check out. No cashier. I go back to the first employee who asks for a colleague to check me out. This other guy starts asking for all my personal information without saying why. I asked why and he said he needs to create an account for me. I said I just want to buy the shirt, then he warned me that there will be no returns possible on the shirt and no trace of my purchase anywhere if I don't create an account. I guess they "modernized" the checkout process by getting rid of printed receipts and harvesting people's personal information instead. What kind of customer service is a no-return policy on a $169 shirt? I was furious and left without buying the shirt. Wasted 10 minutes of my day and it was a distressing useless experience. read more

I had to return and get a refund on a custom suit. My brother's wedding is in a few weeks and they really messed up with no apologies or help. Thomas completely fitted me wrong and nothing fit. The suit looked horrible. Like an oversized zoot suit. Houston told me it's so bad they can't tailor it and we don't have enough time to remake. Basically too bad so sad that I will be the best man without the same suit as the groomsmen. Don't go here if you can avoid it. You'd think for $900 and custom it would fit but nope. Fast Fashion business model that leaves a lot to be desired. I recently returned because of a pleasant experience 6 months ago. Around December I was helped by a nice gentleman almost immediately without appointment, and though they didn't have anything I was looking for (a Off the Rack Black Suit I needed for an event later in the week) they were genuinely helpful. Given that experience I thought it would be worth it to inquire about having several suits made. This time I scheduled an appointment and did some research on what exactly I wanted. Going in I had to seek to be checked in where the gentleman directed me to "stand over there". I waited over 10min past my appointment time before anyone acknowledged me past that first and only direction. There were no pleasantries and no apologies for the wait. I get your busy but after scheduling an appointment and you the business being late to it the least I expect is some acknowledgement or update, or even perhaps just a comment of the associate will be with you momentarily but it will be just a short wait. I got none of that, I felt like a blind fish standing in an awkward corner brushed aside by the gentleman checking people in. Eventually another gentleman asked why I was still waiting and again paged the associate and went to go retrieve them for their appointment with me. Again I get that your busy but with a scheduled appointment I really expect better scheduling on your part. There shouldn't be such serious overlap. The associate was alright but generally unhelpful. I asked questions regarding what they could offer and not much in terms of consultation was offered in return. A general vibe of "I'm Busy" let's get this moving was the gist. Again I'll reiterate they weren't rude by any means apart from being late, but generally just weren't helpful. If I walked in I probably could have expected the same service. The actual selections. The fabric selections they did have in store were alright. There's a LOT of synthetic and less than desirable fabrics to be had at cheap prices. There are also a few sets of genuinely nice fabrics to be had at a premium $1400-$2000 range for a 2 piece suit. Many fabrics especially the more premium ones aren't ever shown on the website, you have to go and order/view them in person. This is what made my question regarding the specific mill so frustrating. After they didn't actually have it in store they also had no photos of it either like they do for many fabrics on the site so I couldn't even see potential patterns or order one. I was told by one gentleman that to order that fabric I would need to go to their Main NYC or DC location. What!? At their price range of premium fabrics they are there with other premium brands in terms of price point and are using some of the same mills too so construction and fit should be along the same lines. But they weren't, or couldn't be determined. Pretty much everything in store is 9mm stitch with some 2mm stitch. I'm referring to the stitching along seems and edges of the suit. This type of stitching was very visible and not my personal taste. They offered "no stitch sticking" but details were confusing and had no examples in store? This was a frequent occurrence I ran into. Many things I was told they offered but had no examples in store. This was really frustrating as well, many options they don't have available online and so they direct you to an appointment in store. But you go in store and they have nothing available there either. One particular grievance I had was with the buttons. Many are plastic, including their "gold" and "silver" ones. They have a very limited selection for Mother of Pearl and Horn buttons with no offerings in Shell. Quality of the suits (from what could be seen, as many again weren't offered or available to show/display in store unless I went to their main NYC location) is laking for their more premium price points. The suits there materials especially on the cheaper budget options are miles above H&M or Zara or Express or Mens Warehouse or any budget option like that. But as soon as you fly above ~$600-800 mark and venture into responsible wool you start to fall into question a deceiving with them vs a more traditional established brand or from the various Made To Measure Tailors around boston that offer generally better quality it seems. My last gripe is their manufacturing. Currently lead times to receive any made to measure suit ("custom" as they call it) is 14-16 weeks! That's a heck of a long time. That means you won't be getting any suits ordered until Fall or Winter. Never mind final fitting issues you'll likely encounter that will require a few extra weeks on top of that. They are also all made in China. read more

Purely for the expert and friendly service. The well-dressed staff are obviously knowledgeable and willing to help. The decor is contemporary but also upscale, fitting right in on Newbury Street. Even if you know nothing about men's fashion or suits, it's just a beautiful space to walk into. Although you may be a bit intimidated if you literally know nothing. The shop is 3 floors, selling suits, shoes, shirts, pants, ties, you name it. There's also a cafe downstairs in the basement that is in progres. If it looks and feels anything like the rest of the store, I'll definitely be back. They seem to have been pretty busy since opening. Clientele seems to include both students and professionals looking for a suit store that not only sells whatever style they want but also provides expert advice. The staff who helped us was very knowledgeable about the styles in the store and didn't try to add pressure or sell too hard, which is always appreciated it. Instead of writing a scathing review for this business I am going to give this business one star because that is honestly how I feel about the experience I had at Suitsupply. Suitsupply needs to focus on improvement. Their suits are eye catching. The business itself seems welcoming which is a good thing for them. Suitsupply needs to focus on several areas: - Staff levels need to be higher. There is too much volume for the number of staff they have working. - Customer service needs to be improved. Customers are paying top dollar and missing garments or getting fitting specs wrong is unacceptable at this level. - Lead times must be improved at their factory. I'd like to give Suitsupply more than one star in the future because their suits can be stylish, however these areas MUST be improved. read more

Absolutely awful experience. Bought a suit for my dad to wear to my sister's wedding. We were told the alterations would be ready in 1-2 weeks. After 3 weeks with no word I called the store but they never answer. The corporate customer service told me the suit was ready but the store failed to notify me. When we went to pick up the suit we checked in and were told someone would be with us soon. Two people checked in after us to pick up suits and were seen before us. When we did get seen by the associate, who said he was a manger, he was rude and not really answering any questions I had. He was only half listening and so his responses had nothing to do with what I was asking. He kept calling me James and it took another 15 mins to bring up the suit. When we finally got the suit the pants had not been altered at all and the pins were still in it. We were told they would rush it and we should come back in an hour and he would help us by providing a few shirts and ties that he thinks would look great together. When we came back he said he was off the clock, however he was helping someone else. He got someone else to help us. We asked about the outfit options and they got a single white shirt and a blue tie. The whole time the person helping us kept going back and forth with other customers. It was another customer who told them that we were first and that they should finish with us first because it was rude. When my dad put on the pants they looked terrible and ill fitted. They still hadn't fully altered them. They brought up the inseam but didn't alter the waist or taper the legs as they were supposed to. They said it would be another week to complete. We had no choice because the pants simply didn't fit. More than a week went by and the local store wasn't answering. Again, corporate said the pants had been ready. We returned again and the pants hadn't been touched. They said we were given misinformation all 3 times and the store doesn't taper pants and there's nothing they could do for us. At no point did they explain why no one called to tell us so we wouldn't come back expecting tailored pants. We called corporate on speakerphone and asked if they taper pants. The representative said that all of their stores should be doing taper and waist alterations. Despite this, they kept saying that their store is different and there's too much liability with tapering pants. Not sure what kind of liability, we're talking about pants not a medical procedure. Finally they agreed to fix the pants but told us to come back in an hour. That was at 6:30 and the store closes at 7 so we said we'd wait in the store. Clearly they just wanted us out and we're playing games. There's no doubt in my mind that we would have been treated better if we more resembled the typical Newbury Street shopper. I believe our race and class played a factor in their lack of courtesy. They treated us like we were less than, as though they were doing us favor by letting us purchase a suit. We paid full price but were treated second class. read more

I love this store. I've been there numerous times for myself and my teenage kids. The first time I went was with my non-binary oldest child for their junior prom. Wearing a dress was out of the question, so we got them a fantastic outfit with pants, a tie, and a vest. We always work with the incomparable Oates. He's such a nice person, super talented, and will give you an amazing experience. You'll have so much fun shopping with him. You should book a consultation in advance (I'm not sure if it's required, but I think it's highly recommended) We just went shopping there again for my son's bar mitzvah, and not surprisingly had the most remarkable experience with Oates. I got an awesome outfit for myself as well and sipped champagne while I shopped. The clothing is great quality, stylish and comfortable. It's well priced for what you get. It's not cheap but it's also not crazy expensive as compared to an upscale department store or designer clothing shop, and you rarely get a great experience at one of those stores. The people at suit supply are super friendly, but unfortunately they are not great at time management or customer service. I had gone in for an initial suit fitting and had to wait for over 45 minutes past my appointment time to be seen, I get it, it was a Saturday, it's a busy day, no sweat. I purchased a suit and had to make an appointment for two weeks after they received it so that I could go in and get it because their schedules are so booked up. I made the appointment and went in, I then had to wait 40 minutes to be told that they lost my suit somewhere on the premise. I was told they would email me when they found my suit, I then got a reschedule email for the exact same time and date that I had just attended the appointment 47 minutes earlier. Now I'm dreading trying to coordinate how to get my suit with them as they have no availabilities for weeks. Edit: Went back in two days later without an appointment and they re-measured and tailored my suit and I got it in an hour. Happy ending. read more

You definitely want to have enough time to enjoy the whole experience and not be rushed. The fabrics and quality are amazing. Our salesperson was Questin and his advice and knowledge were top notch. Long overdue review: I was visiting in Boston a few months back and was recommended by family to check out Suitsupply, as the Boston location had a great reputation, as opposed to locations in other states. Great service, great clothing selection. Questin was the name of the gentleman who helped me out. He was very nice, professional, and talented. I gave him basic parameters and he was able to pick multiple suits that had a near tailored-fit despite my unusual body shape (short and stocky, generally 40-42 Reg, 34" waist, standing at 5'7"). I was tempted to buy 3 suits, however, was actually advised to reconsider by Questin because he noticed that 2 of the 3 suits did not have enough stretch or give due to the fabric (which I need as I wear suits to work and require a bit of movement/flexibility). Ultimately, based on his advice, I only purchased 1 suit from Suitsupply, and they were able to complete minor alterations within 2-3 days. I appreciate that Questin found me a stylish, well fitting suit without trying to just make a sale. Hope ya'll have a similar experience as well. read more

This place is as on point as it gets! I came here after months of failed attempts at Indochino and boy do I wish I discovered SuitSupply first. For starters, the store is absolutely gorgeous! I could do some serious damage in that place with a black card. Great design, incredible atmosphere and awesome staff dressed to the nines and who know their stuff. Clearly, they have been very well trained. I got a made to measure with Dong, and while he looks young, he's not. He's been in the business for 15 years, and it shows. This guy knows his stuff. He customized my measurements for idiosyncracies like the tilt of my shoulder, my posture, how my hips sit, etc. He knew exactly why my Indochino suit wasn't properly fit, which is something Indochino didn't understand at all. On the way out, I bought an off-the-rack Havana jacket that fit almost perfectly... without a doubt, the best off the rack jacket I've ever bought. It looked so good, I went back a few days later and bought another one. I can't recommend this place enough. Already my favorite clothing store, and there's no doubt they'll be getting A LOT more of my money! read more

SuitSupply has some great pieces, especially the double breasted coats. The marketing and branding for the company is amazing and the design of the Boston store is beautiful. That said, every single time I buy something in-store, it's an awful experience. The sales team seems to be trained to tell you their opinions rather than ask you what you want. I remember the first time I stopped in during a hot day and asked if they had any double breasted suits in light summer fabrics and the response I got was "No. It's a suit. They're all hot." I wasn't sure how to interpret that response because I had seen linen and seersucker suits on the website. When I suggested looking at those the sales guy got angry that I was making suggestions and started questioning me about whether I knew about Cucinelli drawstrings and other designer references to prove that he knew more than me about suits. It was bizarre. Sadly this awful sales floor attitude carries over to the tailoring. I bought a fun suit there in a fabric that is definitely meant for parties or events (not business), let them make the adjustments they wanted, and it turned out looking like a tacky, outdated, early 2000s fit. For adjustments round 2, I brought a pair of pants as an example (any decent tailor can easily replicate the measurements), but they refused to use the same measurements and insisted on again making their own changes. In this case, one of their changes was decreasing the leg opening, which I specifically told them not to do. Of course when I got the pants back I couldn't put them on because my foot wouldn't fit through the leg opening hahaha. They know nothing. I had to take it to my usual personal tailor to fix it all. My suggestion is buy the stuff online and take it to a real tailor. That will save you a lot of time and pain. The people in the store like to force their opinion on you, but they are completely clueless and know nothing about men's wear fashion or tailoring. read more

Last December, I came into the Newbury stored and ordered 3 pairs of dress pants to be delivered into the store for try-on. Now fast forward 3 weeks later, I have gotten zero updates. I called their customer service and they said they do not have any records of my order even though their in-store sales person put them in for me. I've called everyday for a week to try and get in contact with someone to inquire about fixing a rip at the seams of my Suitsupply pants. I've waited for 30min-1hr at times and no one will pick up the phone, including at the cafe. This is extremely unprofessional. I spoke to customer service and apparently they are aware of this problem, but nothing has been done about it. Being busy is not an excuse for not picking up your phones for over a week. I will never visit this location ever again. I've bought all my suits at Suitsupply, but never before have I experienced such atrocious customer service. Don't believe me? Try giving them a call -- guarantee you they'll never pick up. Try sending them an email -- they'll never reply. They messed up my tailoring which required me to try every possible means to contact them, all in hopes of getting my suit fixed. Just got back from a fitting with Naiya, who I haven't read any reviews for yet! I came looking for my first proper suit after college, and Naiya knew exactly what to suggest. I wanted a no-frills navy suit, and after trying on just two blazers and one pair of trousers, I was already at the register checking out what both looked and felt like a quality suit. I was out in less than an hour. Naiya was receptive to my concerns and questions, and knew what alterations needed to be done to maximize the suit's potential.
