I absolutely love this park and there's always something to do. Since it's near the water, you also feel a nice breeze that makes the Miami Heat bearable. The newly addition of the fountain with the water show elevated the space. I also like how it's close to Bayside, Kaseya Center and other parts of downtown; if you want to walk some more or find a place to eat nearby. Parking is also easy to find and affordable. If you want to spend some time outdoors with the family, including your dogs, this is a great place to come.

We stopped at Ricky's Frozen Drinks for a sausage and a lemonade. It was okay, probably a 2.5/5, but honestly, I was hungry so maybe that influenced my rating LOL. There are different parking lots around the park, but you do have to pay for parking. We also saw security driving around a couple of times, which made the area feel safe and well monitored. Overall, a really nice place to walk around, enjoy the views, and spend some time outdoors. Would definitely visit again!

Kennedy was an attorney and politician who served as the Mayor of Miami from 1970 until 1973. Kennedy is credited with drafting the plans for the creation of Miami's Bicentennial Park which opened in 1976. David T. Kennedy Park is 20 acres and sits on the coastal mangrove shore of Biscayne Bay where there is access for kayaking and paddleboarding. Benches are set up so you can catch the sunrise and sunset and bay breeze. Park amenities include a dog park, open lawn, outdoor fitness equipment, picnic table, playground, and volleyball court. The expansive lawns, tree-lined walking paths, and a range of recreational facilities make this park a popular destination for locals and visitors alike. Also in the park is A.C.'s Icees frozen lemonade truck selling refreshing treats near the parking lot. This frosted lemonade stand has been a park land mark since 1978. Even on the weekend, the park is spacious enough to never feel crowded. If there is one drawback, it would be the lack of parking during peak use time. Overall, David T. Kennedy Park is a fantastic representation of the Miami Dade Park system by combining relaxation and recreation in one beautiful location. Whether you're visiting for a few hours or spending the day, the park provides a welcoming recreational space for outdoor activities and leisurely enjoyment.

I brought my daughter and she enjoyed being surrounded by nature in this beautiful park.

A midden which is a prehistoric garbage dump has also been found here. These midden piles are excellent resources for telling archaeologists a lot about the people who created them. Another midden was found at Arch Creek Park. This area is one of six estuaries in Miami that the Tequesta built settlements on before they became extinct. Also located in the park is the Brickell family Mausoleum. William and Mary Brickell along with Julia Tuttle helped to found Miami. The Brickell's were originally from Ohio and they set up a trading post where they did business with the Seminoles near Fort Dallas. The Brickells sold some of their land to Henry Flagler so he could build the railroad in Florida. The Brickells left the park to the city of Miami with the stipulation that it must be kept as a green space. If the city wanted to develop the land it would revert ownership back to the Brickell family. The area has since become a bustling financial district but the city can't develop this piece of prime real estate. In 1926 the Brickells had their mausoleum built in the park. After their deaths their bodies resided there until 1946 when their youngest daughter had decided that the location had become too loud for them to rest peacefully and they were moved to Woodlawn North park Cemetery. The mausoleum was put on the national register of historic places in 1989 so it can't be moved or modified. It is quite the site to see this historic structure in the shadow of a towering condominium. The park has a beautiful water front view. There is a small play area for kids. Like all of the areas I visited today in Miami parking is a challenge but it is worth seeking out this important site that has spanned all of Miami's history from the pre-Columbian to the present day.

These birds are adorable, but they are threatened by habitat loss. There is a volunteer who regularly checks for Piping Plovers during migration, and she looks for bands that reveal the path of the bird's migratory flight. It's important that we have places for these birds to forage, and I hope the city continues to protect this beach for that use. The bathrooms were a welcome amenity. I had problems paying the parking fee, it was a complicated process. There were about 10 peafowl (peacocks) that roamed the park, a remaining vestige of when this was a zoo. There were many wild birds throughout the park.
