This place is way cool and unique. It's rare to find such a fantastic little treasure. I happened upon this because my friends had a bitters mix kit instructions posted on their fridge that they received as a gift and I decided I wanted to go check this place out. That Saturday, we went and I fell in love. Both my friends and I walked out with bags full of call kinds of fun items. We came here to pick up a housewarming gift and had such a good time. The staff behind the counter was SOOOO helpful in making suggestions for what is appropriate for a house warming gift. She was patient and happy to explain everything to me. I felt like I asked the dumbest questions (because I'm not normally into this kind of stuff) but she made me feel comfortable to ask anything. She was the perfect mix of offering help when I needed but also leaving us alone so we could browse everything on our own and just read and absorb all these foreign and unique things to us. The selection at Sugarpill is very well curated, stocked with fine chocolates, salts and spices from all over the world. This apothecary is a must-see for foodies (or to find a gift for the foodies in your life). When i'm in a grumpy mood, the exotic spicy scent in SugarPill cheers me up, and a special chocolate and something for the bath are the perfect pick-me-up remedies for our crudly winter weather here in Seattle. We love the vintage reproduction drinking chocolates, which are always a fun ritual on a chilly evening. I've noticed they also offer free workshops on occasion. The subject matter always looks enticing - how to use herbs, natural medicine - although I have yet to make it to one. What can I say, I love this store! I was on a short vacation in Seattle when I got major sinus congestion!! Over the counter drugs never work for me and always make me feel more congested so I wanted to try an alternative. Luckily, I found this store online. I went in, explained my symptoms and came out with an herbal oil, some AWSOME body balm for a shoulder pain, and some great advice! The next day my sinuses cleared up and I was grateful! The next day I returned to buy some local honey and another pain reliever body balm since I knew I couldn't find anything like it in California until 2018!! I love my truffle oil, winter cough tea and smoked salt. I also got a relaxation evening tea for a friend as a gift here. I love the bottlecap jewelry in here! Unique and beautiful- it'll be my next purchase for myself. The service is also great. The owner was very helpful with suggesting the right spice based off my eating habits. I also asked her about products for digestion and she was honest with me and told me I needed to improve my habits, not purchase products. The prices are what I expect for a gourmet food shop/apothecary. They're higher than QFC obviously but standard for the niche. I wish the tea selection here was a little bigger but it looks like she custom blends a lot of them so I'm sure there will be different ones each time. Hours also make it a little tough for me to get to except Saturday's but I think this is a 1-2 woman show so its understandable. This place reminds me of rummaging through my grandma's pantry, except my grandma never had as nice of stuff as Sugarpill does. From strawberry balsamic jam to cookware made out of salt, this shop may be little but it's stocked with all kinds of interesting and unique, local products. And it's not just foodstuffs, as they carry soaps and lotions as well. Sadly, I have yet to try any of the products myself, as everything I purchased was given away as a Christmas gift (darn it!), and the prices are high enough to make Whole Foods look like Walmart, so this is definitely more along the lines of the occasional splurge than a regular spot. read more

Finally stopped by here today and very pleased with the selection. PIcked up a couple essential oils (lime and jasmine). I can't wait to make my own spritzer for the steam room at the gym. They had quite the selection of salts and I settled on white truffle and (you won't believe this) vanilla salt. I have no idea what I'll put it on, but I'll find something. If you ever need bitters, this is your place to go; they seemed expensive to me, but perhaps you only use a small amount for your drinks. I walked in there because it's a really cool looking store, filled with pink salt blocks, chocolates, and tastefully decorated with dark stained wood combined with lots of natural light. Since there weren't a ton of customers at the time, I started talking to her about a condition my boyfriend was being treated for by another naturopath but wasn't seeing any improvement. She had lots of suggestions for him to try that are 1) generally good for your health, 2) practical to do, and 3) do not include having to buy a bunch of herbal stuff. We implemented her suggestions, the condition went away and stayed away. Listen to her, it will do your body good. And buy stuff, she really takes time to curate interesting and awesome items outside of the naturopathic realm, the naturopathic stuff she stocks only the best quality. Sugarpill is a very cool little shop. For such a tiny place, it really has a lot to offer, and the the woman who I believe to be the owner is very helpful and always there. There is not as elaborate of a selection as some other shops around, however if you're looking for a strong relationship with your apothecary this is definitely where you want to be. On a more relevant note for myself, there is a fantastic selection of salts and for incredible prices. I honestly have not seen better prices around. For a about $30 you can get around 5 ounces of black or white truffle salt. Believe me, you can't find a better price at any specialty shop around. The minute you walk in you're hit with the aroma of spices and teas, a foodies scent wet dream. They had a wide variety of spices and teas neatly packaged.
