I met up with a friend who is in town visiting at Ponce market for lunch. As we search for a place to eat, I noticed that there was a Sugar Shane's and mentioned to him how delicious the cookies are. For context, this is my friend whom I used to regularly bakery, hop with...so he was convinced based on my comment that he should try cookies from Sugar Shane's after our lunch. By the time we'd eaten, I'd forgotten about the cookies, but my friend did not. So we went by Sugar Shane's and he bought himself a cookie. This was my first time at this Sugar Shane's location, as I have only been to the midtown location. I learned from the guy who was working that the cookies here are baked and transported from the Midtown location. That said, I found the selection to be lacking given that there are always so many delectable options at the Midtown location. For example, there were none of the thick/tall cookies that I think of as being signature to Sugar Shane's. There were also no other dessert options than the few cookies in stock. As far as Sugar Shane's goes, I'd recommend a trip to the midtown location or possibly stopping by this location earlier in the day when the selection may be larger. read more

I got the Oreo chocolate chip cookie filled with cream and it was phenomenal. My only complaint is that when we arrived in the evening they were out of most of their flavors. I came across Sugar Shane's for the first time as I was exploring Ponce City Market while waiting to meet up with friends for lunch. At first glance, the cookies didn't look appealing to me so I didn't stop at the counter. I was concerned they would be dry and/or too sweet. However, my brother-in-law brought home some cookies from Sugar Shane's and warmed them up for dessert after dinner. I was very pleasantly surprised at how well balanced the flavors were and they weren't overwhelmingly sweet. The outside was crispy while the center was soft and buttery. I am now completely hooked! Sugar Shane is located inside of Ponce city market. With seating in the general area like the rest of the food stores there. the cookies are both visually appealing and flavorful. They are meant to be warmed up so that you can experience a gooey center. The cookie that I got was the cookie butter flavor, and it was very tasty on the outside. Mine was warmed up, but I did not experience the gooeyness, my inside filling was cold cookie butter which made the cookie too sweet, even though I devoured the outside because it was delicious. I knew when I took 2 bites into this cookie, this was a cookie for my husband. My husband would rate this cookie a 5/5 - perfection! I asked for it warm and the cashier was a little confused and didn't warm it. But the base of this cookie is a very good, very standard cookie taste. We tried the s'mores and I loved how the marshmallow was crispy on edges and gooey in center. But the base chocolate chip is a nostalgic flavor. I can't rate this a 5, because I'm a Gideon's girl, and nothing ever lives up. The butter and vanilla and just base of any Gideon's cookie causes my tastebuds to explode. But these were very good.
