It's an older property but we'll maintained and clean. A real advantage is the proximity to Sugarbush.

Five of us recently stayed at the Slide Brook Lodge and had a great time. We rented the 5 bed…read moreprivate apt upstairs (the efficiency) for about $200 with tax. At $40/person/night, this was an unbeatable deal. The private apt can house five or even six (if two people share a full bed). The apartment was perfect for us. The beds were really comfortable, and the kitchen was great for breakfast in the morning before hitting the slopes, and the washer/dryer helped to dry wet gloves. There was a large flatscreen tv and comfortable living room (shared with the other hotel guests, but we never saw anyone using it) and also a really great outdoor hottub that we used everyday. Sugarbush is a mile away (and there's a bus stop across the street from the lodge). On the ground floor of the lodge is crowded tavern with great live music, and a foosball table. Sometimes the music would be audible from the room, but it was never a huge problem. Alex took good care of us and made great suggestions on things to do/eat in the area. He was also nice enough to let us checkout in the late afternoon (which meant we could shower before our long drive home on our last day of skiing). Besides our private apt upstairs, the other rooms of the lodge are small and bare and hostel-like. Check the website for pictures of those. You wouldn't call this place luxurious per se, but for a group of young people it's perfect -- really comfortable and affordable and got the job done. Highly recommended.

I just love this ridiculous place…read more My family has a vacation home in the valley, and whenever possible on Saturdays we try to take the drunk bus (free shuttle service on saturday nights) over to Slidebrook or Tevere. Things to know about Slidebrook: 1) Crowd is mixed at the bar, but often includes rowdy young 20-somethings staying at the hotel. Shenanigans often ensue, but there are always folks of all ages here. 2) The space itself is pretty freaking small, but I love this about it. Super intimate, great skibar layout. They cram the band in the corner and make it work. Awesome acoustics is a bonus. 3) The bartenders (little Jenny and big Jenny) are the shit. They are the PERFECT bartenders - a mix of super fun and inappropriate with a hint of "will smack a brotha down if he gets out of hand". Really great and hilarious people. 4) The bands are always sick. Dancing ensues. 5) There is a hottub upstairs that you can just go use. It is infamous and often full of drunk kids from New Jersey. But hey, you only live once. Highly recommend this place, just ignore whatever the 21 year olds are doing and go with a group of friends. We always end up staying way later than intended.

We arrived on Friday morning prior to check in time, and the staff got us situated in the cozy front common room with a roaring fire and yummy cappuccinos. When it was time to check in, a nice man offered to start a fire for us in the wood burning stove in our room. And he did it multiple times throughout our stay. Everyone throughout the weekend was so wonderful, but we specifically remember Mehnaz and Amelie. They work hard, bring positive energy, and do it all with a smile. The food was also excellent. We had dinner at both restaurants and really enjoyed each experience. The breakfast was also top notch and I wish I could replicate the bacon they serve. Overall, 20/10 stars... we cannot wait to come back! Getting married this fall in Waitsfield and planning on spending the night after our wedding at the Pitcher Inn. Highly recommend!

Dinner started with an anchovy amuse-bouche that had a nice savory taste. They even offered a free glass of champagne for my birthday. The grilled octopus was nice and light, and the cauliflower was okay with the dish. It was a smaller potion, but left room for the remaining courses. The tagliatelle was cooked well and the tomatoes and mushrooms added nicely to the dish. This was a nice sized portion, and definitely filling. The chocolate raspberry tart was more on the chocolatey side. Maybe my least favorite course from those I had, but nonetheless still good. The check came with petit four which was a nice touch. My waiter, Sergiu, was delightful and made me feel welcome the entire time. I really enjoyed my dinner here and would look to return.

My husband paid for the romance package, it was beautiful when we walked in with the "rose petals" and tea lights on the bed. Cons: the wifi was awful, the tv remote wouldn't work after a few minutes, there was barely warm water in the shower all evening the night we arrived, so even if there was hot water, I would NOT have used the jet tub as it the jets we're disgusting and covered in mildew. My husband paid $60 for the romance package which as I said was beautiful, however the rose petals were fake, not worth the $60! If the above issues were corrected, it would be a perfect place to stay!

One of the bedrooms had a queen-sized bed, and one of them had two single-sized beds. I stayed in the room with two single-sized beds and ended up pushing them together. My stay was more than comfortable, the pool area was nice but the water was below freezing, almost like swimming in the middle of the Atlantic. I also got a chance to enjoy the morning breakfast. I got the scrambled eggs with bacon and orange juice. The eggs were cooked just the way I liked them and the hostess was more than accommodating even if I was late and had come back from an early morning nap, I mean yoga lesson. I would happily come here again for a little R&R if given the chance.

"I need a place to rest my weary bones" what is nearby? So very thankful I was near the Mad River Inn B&B!! My requirements were simple-a bed, a pillow and sleep...I'm gone early am was the plan. Then I met The innkeepers/my hosts. From the moment I entered the home I truly felt cared for! By far the best stay I've had anywhere in this world (I travel a lot). Beautiful place, lots of charm, love the antiques! Lovely rooms! The tea and coffee stations were superb...I'm a diehard coffee drinker but the tea station (selections and dainty china teacups) hooked me. The yummy homemade cookies, ice water, snacks and sodas were such lovely touches! The books, history, information, touristy flyers etc WOW! Curl up by a fireplace or fire pit, sink into a chair, kick off your shoes (oops, right they were already off and left at the door!) revised that early escape plan .....I did not want to leave! Breakfast was beyond amazing and delicious (omelet-eye rolling fresh gooey cheese, and fresh fruit.) The other guests were mostly returning guest or friend of someone who had stayed here. Friendliest people ever! Felt very at home with this entire way too short stay. The total kicker for me was when I returned home....took 425 leaf peeping and Vermont photos and the only ones I truly loved and felt were spectacular were taken in the back yard of the Mad River Tavern!!! Loved this so much that I am Seriously rethinking my February birthday trip NH and my usual place (15 years)....it was that wonderful of a stay at the Mad River Inn. Already referred two coworkers here.
