My first wine tasting at Succession was in 2019 and I remember loving their rosé. My boyfriend and I recently visited Chelan, and stopped by Succession on a rainy fall day. There weren't many people there and they had live music in their cozy tasting room. There were gorgeous flowers everywhere from an event they had the day before. The servers were so kind and told us about the wine. They also let us try additional wines off the tasting menu which was fun. We loved the new Spanish style Tempranillo and of course, the rosé. 2025 The wines this season are AHHH MAZE-ING. I am not a white drinker ususally but their Sav Blanc & Chards were not only worth a full glass but bottles were definitely happening. Wines overall were very good. Interesting that none were from the actual winery. We loved the Cave B Sauvignon Blanc and the Rose. The only disappointment was our server who said nothing about the wines or asked us what we liked. We've been visiting Succession Wines for years, and it's been amazing to see how far they've come. The tasting room is one of the best in the Lake Chelan area, set on a hill with panoramic lake views, ample indoor and outdoor seating, and even tables nestled right in the vineyard. When we first started coming, the wine was solid but not particularly memorable. That's changed. They've really come into their own, and their most recent Merlot release is a standout, it's quickly become one of my favorites. We LOVE Succession wines! My in laws have a place in Manson and we visit Succession every time we are in town. We've even attended a rehearsal dinner for a wedding here. Overall a wonderful winery! Lots of great outdoor seating right next to vines and a shot of the lake for great photo ops. The service was really excellent and did a great job keeping our glasses full and explaining a bit about each wine. The cheese and other food options were very tasty and fairly priced. Only downside is the presentation being a bit lacking but doesn't spoil the experience. The wines were tasty, but nothing to write home about. Overall a very solid spot for a lunch out. I feel bad because they were nice and they even gave us a little name plate for our group, but these wines are just not good. Jammy and fruit forward, for sure. But empty and dull. If these bottles cost $10-15, they'd be good, accessible, easy-drinking party fare. On the day we tasted, most of the bottles were selling for $45 and up. No. In a state that has Walla Walla and Red Mountain, there is zero need to pay that much for average to mediocre local wine. I do not plan to taste here again. read more

Our first time in Chelan, my partner and I opted to share a $15 tasting flight since we planned on trying other wineries throughout the Friday afternoon. We had 5 pours of all reds, with a mix of white label and reserve wines. Starting with the merlot, a solid choice, we moved onto the black label, cab sauv, reserve cab sauv, and reserve syrah, each more interesting and delicious, bottles ranging from mid $40-$130. The space was gorgeous, with the vineyards surrounded by twinkling lights, a large outdoor seating area with a beautiful view of the lake, and blankets and heaters to keep us warm. In the summers they have live music and with the abundance of outdoor tables, I can definitely see this being a fun spot to be at! Even though the wine was amazing and the ambiance was stunning, we felt there was much to be desired with the service and didn't really learn much about the winery. We enjoy going to tastings to sample wines, but also learn more about the history, the process, the notes, etc. The tasting menu was extremely detailed, but the human connection with the server was unfortunately lacking. We felt safe sitting outside due to Covid, kept our masks on when the server came, but they didn't really explain the wines that were being served. For more introverted folks, definitely a great option, we just wished we got more background. They have some food options (cheese, crackers, salame, almonds, etc) but were pretty uncertain with allergies and brought out the actual cheese so we could review the ingredients ourselves. Better to be safe than sorry, but having more of a firm confirmation on allergens or even suggested pairings would elevate the experience. read more

This was our second stop here in the valley. We were looking for wines from the Lake Chelan AVA. Most of the grapes for these wine come from the Columbia Valley AVA. However, that said, they do some nice reds and we did make some nice purchases for our cellar. We got nice service from our server. When we told here we were looking for wines from the Lake Chelan AVA, she found us a bottle of their Chardonnay from a year or so ago. Their current Chardonnay is from the Columbia Valley AVA. It was good. However, the Chardonnay from the Lake Chelan AVA is a bit better and is going home with us. It is not oaked; yummy. We did pick up two reds from the Columbia Valley AVA. The Cabernet France is from 2019, had good flavor and does not have too many tannins. The Bridge Builder's Blend from 2019 was a nice surprise. It contains 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc, 15% Merlot, 7% Malbec and 2% Petit Verdot. It is a traditional Bordeaux blend and excellent. Both wines are coming home with us. We enjoyed this stop because of the quality of the wines and the knowledge of the server. Give it a try. read more

Justin, my winetender, was awesome. The setting is lovely, but what else would you expect along Lake Chelan? The tasting was 50/50. Loved the rose. The Chenin Blanc was lacking in flavor, but I'm used to South African CB and this was a super dry variety so I may be biased. The white blend wasn't my favorite. The Pinot Noir was OK. The Cabernet Franc was better. The Bridge Builders Blend was very good. I asked Justin about the Chardonnay because we needed a cold bottle of white something for dinner and he happily offered a bonus taste even though it wasn't on the tasting menu and it was delightful. Other wineries in the area have knocked it out of the park wine after wine on this trip. Succession was hit or miss. But Justin makes me want to come back and try more. read more

We go to Chelan every year and Succession Wines has become my favorite place to visit, their wine is so good! This year, I was not able to partake in my normal wine drinking (obviously) but I was able to visit the winery during my visit and buy some for later.
