This winery is so beautiful! The sommelier was so nice. He took his time with us going over the wines and service was wonderful. We liked all the wines although I'm not a fan of sweet wine, so I can't speak to those. We left with the viongier and the cab. Would go back. read more

Ambiance is unbeatable, spectacular views from the patio. The wines were all good. The Cab was smooth and nice, especially for this region which is more known for whites. The whites were great with my favorite the estate Viognier. Very smooth lovely drinking on a hot day. Service was great, attentive, never had an empty glass. I'd come back. $15 tasting fee waived with a single bottle purchase was very reasonable. read more

Great place, beautiful view, sadly the wine by the case was bad. We bought two cases after tasting their wine, every single bottle was spoiled. Not sure they are tasting and selling the same wines, because what we got was nothing like what they served. We bought two cases at what I thought was a great deal, one case of the pinot and one of their Phoenix blend. The sale price was good, now I know why. After emailing them and getting no response back and no refund for the spoiled wine, it tells me what kind of place this is. Too bad, because the place was a really nice location to enjoy a glass, but we won't be back. **Going to try and make vinegar out of what they sold us, at least we waste all of that wine. read more

Four Lakes Winery wines are getting better and better. Enjoy the views of three lakes from the cozy room and walk the south edge of parking lot to see the fourth lake. The server is super friendly and helpful. I felt that no question was too basic. She also had restaurant suggestions which proved out to be solid (Mi Paloma in Manson and Fonda Oaxaca in Chelan). read more

Beautiful winery and delicious wines. I really enjoyed coming here. The small winery is set on top of the hill. You can see the Chelan valley. The server who poured the wine was pretty nice. Even though she was busy, she was attentive enough to come by and give us our tasting periodically. I think what I didn't appreciate about this place was that the server did not wear a mask. The country is battling a pandemic right now and I think it is necessary to comply with the CDC guidelines of wearing a mask in public. I get that we were outside but still... Aside from this, everything was great here. The wine was delicious. read more

We spent 3 days in Lake Chelan and hit about a dozen different wineries. I'd say overall we had 3 that were stellar (i.e. we'd consider joining the club), the rest were solid, if not standouts, and then, we have Four Lakes. First the good....exceptional scenery. The patio has some stellar views. The dog is a big sweet boy, so if you like pets, that's a plus. As far as wine and service go, by far the worst I've had in years. First wine (dry riesling) absolutely was off. I told our server that it was, and said I hoped it was cork taint and not the entire batch. She dumped it without comment and proceeded to pour the next wine...in that same glass....without rinsing. Once I pointed it out, she gave me a new glass, but while this wine was the worst, every single one of the next four had some sort of problem as well. To be clear, this isn't a case of me not liking the particular types of wines...these are off flavors. While they have a number of rewards (which is great), none since 2007 is concerning....and while the reviews are mostly positive, nothing, recent seems to be so. Not sure if something like staffing or ownership is driving this, but I hope they are able to fix it in the near future. read more

Finally a place that poured a wine I can drink it only took 5 years of wine tasting to find one I could enjoy (TNT). Our wine steward was awesome, funny, fast witted and just a kick in the pants. She was great and worth the stop just to talk to her. My wife and I began members and this is the first winery that produced a wine my wife and I can sure. Thumbs up for service and wine, now my favorite. Cheers! read more

Wow, we loved this place! Beautiful setting set above Chelan and 3 other lakes... gorgeous scenery enjoyed on nice deck overlooking. We loved the wine -- the whites were crisp due to aging in stainless instead of oak... the Syrah & Cab reds were both 2015 vintages affected by the forest fires. They had a real smokiness, but actually enhanced the wine, rather than detracted. We bought a bottle of each! We'll be back next time. read more

On our most recent trip to Lake Chelan, we visited many of their finest wineries. And, without a doubt, our favorite was Four Lakes Winery. Situated on a steep hillside above Manson and as the name implies, the views of the Four Lakes are magnificent. Unlike some of the more ostentatious and pretentious wineries, Four Lakes is just down-home friendly! Karl Koester and his wife Mariah, are simply amazing people. Rather than elaborate on the winery, visit their website as it does a far better job in describing their business than I can. Suffice it to say, when you visit, it is like a storybook tale and one can truly envision seeing this on the Hallmark Channel. read more

This winery is run by a husband and wife team in Chelan. It has the most amazing views of yes four lakes! It is a must see! . Lake chelan, Lake Roses, Wapato lake and dry lake. I love their Voignier white wine and my husband their Syrah. We met our neighbors from seattle. It's easy to social distance and the visit was fabulous. My husband and I have been celebrating 45 years of togetherness oct 17 2020. We wine tasted outside to! read more

A quirky, quiet space and a friendly server doing the pouring creates an enjoyable experience. The wine was unique: Chardonnay tasted surprisingly buttery even though it's aged in stainless steel, and the cab sauv tasted a little like olives and had a cloudy appearance with a coppery-maroon color unlike anything I've had/seen before. We really enjoyed their viognier as well as the TNT (so much so we brought a bottle of TNT home). If you're looking for a low-key tasting experience and want to enjoy some quality wines, this is your place. read more

We visited Four Lakes over the Thanksgiving weekend and it was the highlight of our day of wine tasting! The wine was unique and really good. I would describe it exactly as Melisa in the post before me did. I bought the Chardonnay and the Cab, that she described in her post for the reasons she stated. The girl who was pouring was amazing and I wish I could remember her name!!! However, her pours were much larger than what is normally offered in a tasting and therefore I can't remember her name. But she was very knowledgable, fun to talk to, smart, and a genuinely interesting person. The views are amazing at this winery and I would encourage everyone to take the time to drive up the hill and visit Four Lakes!!! It was really fun and I can't wait to go back. read more

I completely concur with Maggie H. If you are going to this winery to taste good wine, forget it. I went there at the end of a winery tour with my wife and another couple. One of the reds was sooo murky that I am surprised they bothered to bottle it. Obviously the wine had not been properly 'racked' (a transfer operation which removes the 'mud' or 'lees' accumulated at the bottom of the storage containers). When I complained, I was told that the wine was 'unfiltered'. This is real baloney. You do not need to filter wine to make it clear of lees! After my complaints I was told to leave the winery (obviously they were worried about other customers listening to what I had to say about 'lees'). The owners/employees were downright rude and arrogant. The nagging doubt is that these people are mixing lees in the wine to increase the volume (=profit). PLEASE AVOID THESE WINES, they are not even drinkable, and certainly do not meet the most basic standards of quality of the cheapest wines you can buy in a store. Yes, the view is indeed beautiful. By all means go there and enjoy. But bring your own wine. BTW: I make my own wine. read more

When ever I go to Lake Chelan, I always make an effort to go to Four Lakes winery in Manson. Great wine, great staff and beautiful view! The cute dogs that lounge around are great too :) it's really fun when they have live music outside. read more

This place is a hidden gem. A bit off the beaten path but well worth stopping by. I love their TNT and their Cab is spot on. You won't meet more friendly staff than they have here. Although I stay on the other side of the lake I will never miss a chance to go to Four Lakes when in Chelan. The view from here is also unbelievable and the patio is great in the summer or winter as they have a gas fireplace to sit by and take in the view. Definitely one of my favorite spots in Chelan. Make sure to stop by. read more

i recently joined this site to highlight several places i've been recently, that i truly enjoyed and want to support. 4 lakes winery was one of them. so i was really surprised to see some of the other reviews. which made me research why others felt so differently. bottom line, the unfiltered will remain personal preference. apparently some of them fell into an undrinkable category. i, as they, can only go by what we had and mine was good. i bought a couple bottles. there was only 1 unfiltered the merlot. i also got the syrah. however, i digress. my friend and i had a spectacular time there. we had visited several wineries and made purchases, but spent more time here. this locale is special. it is hilltop with a large indoor area and deck. it's rustic and homey. indoor and outdoor fireplaces, pup's roaming. we all agree on that point! apparently you can even grill on their deck. THE LADIES HERE WERE WONDERFUL and i give them 5 stars. very thoughtful and friendly. the bottom line is that if i read these reviews i never would have gone there and missed a great time. i believe they are worth a shot. i will return. read more

So disgusted with four lakes. My daughter in law visited on her bridal weekend. She does not drink much and they told the group they were drunk. It was their second stop. I have heard stories on this place before, so many good places give this a miss. read more

I agree fully with Chelsea here, the views and setting are magnficent. The reds were really solid, especially the Trinity and Tnt. The pours were uber-generous and being able to relax on the fantastic deck was superb. This place makes an amazing final stop for the day in my opinion. One of the best in Chelan for sure. It's also not terribly far - maybe 15-20 minutes from the town. Piece of cake. read more

Four Lakes Chelan Winery makes big, bold red wines that stand alone or can be paired with many foods. Our white wines are light and crisp, to be savored at our winery or at home on a hot Chelan day. The view from the tasting room is spectacular, and perfect for relaxing with a bottle of wine and a picnic. In the summer, you'll often find us firing up the BBQ with a live band on the deck. If you're in the mood for great wines, a relaxed, off-the-beaten-path atmosphere, and a view that never gets old, Four Lakes Winery is the place to come to.

History

Established in 2004.

Don and his son, Karl collaborated in 2001 and the Four Lakes Chelan Winery seed was planted. In 2004 they bought sixty-three acres in Manson, WA where the tasting room now resides, and ten acres on Howard Flats which is six miles east of the tasting room. This is where Karl suddenly became a farmer. Taking down apple trees and planting grapes the first year, we continued to add acreage for the next five years. We have planted twenty varietals so far, all of which have done great. For Karl, wine-making started out as a hobby. Until 1999, he owned his own contracting company and had an educational background in physics and chemistry. Now a successful winemaker at his family's vineyard, Four Lakes Chelan Winery, he looks back at his first attempts at making his own wine and beer and finds joy in the fact that he decided to turn his hobby into a career. Four Lakes Chelan Winery has found a niche with its big bold red wines and light crisp white wines.

Meet the Business Owner: Karl K.

For Karl, winemaking started out as a hobby. Until 1999, he owned his own contracting company and had an educational background in physics and chemistry. Making the switch from contractor to winemaker wasn't a difficult transition for Karl. Having owned his own company, he was familiar with the skills required for running crews, organizing projects, and building structures. Karl has been making beer and wines for twelve years now from all sorts of different fruits. Some turned out great, others turned out not so great, (like the Grapefruit and Lemon wine, not so good), and has sixty-two medals and two "best of class" to his credit so far.

There weren't many people there and they had live music in their cozy tasting room. There were gorgeous flowers everywhere from an event they had the day before. The servers were so kind and told us about the wine. They also let us try additional wines off the tasting menu which was fun. We loved the new Spanish style Tempranillo and of course, the rosé. We joined the wine club (our first time joining a wine club). We look forward to our next visit!

Then we got to the Rose & that was a multi bottle purchase. A great afternoon introducing our baby Frenchie, Stella Mae to wine tasting. She was a hit with the other tasters as well.

The rosé and Syrah were both delightful and I ended up going home with a few bottles. They seem to be somewhat strict about making reservations, so we called ahead. We got there 5 minutes early and still had to wait a bit before we were seated. The staff tried really hard to get us to go sit in the open seating tent (I swear they asked us like 3+ times if we wanted to), but it had no view, was dark, and was full of kids. Def recommend making a reservation so you can actually enjoy the view and ambiance! We went in the winter so all the doors were closed and we sat inside. It was a little stuffy and loud, but we also went on a pretty crowded day. I can imagine the deck and outside area being lovely when the weather is warmer!
