I absolutely LOVE Green Dirt Farm! It for sure should be on your must visit list when coming to…read moreWeston. It has a very different vibe and menu than the other places in town which is a nice switch up but it is outside of the main area of town a bit (still only like a 3-5 minute drive from downtown so not bad at all). They have amazing sandwichs, soups, and charcuterie boards. Honestly, I don't think you could go wrong with anything on the menu. The outdoor seating area is quite vast with plenty of room to spread out and get some fresh air when it's nice out! All the employees were super nice and willing to give honest suggestions on what to get. I would love to do a wine tasting and try other menu items next time I visit! Add this place to your list for your next trip!

Oof. Big changes at GDFC in the last few months. Came in for my normal start of spring trip after…read morejust being here in late fall, and the whole inside is different (less retail, more space) and several new kitchen remodel upgrades. It looks clean but isn't the same home-y spot we all loved. The kicker, though, is they changed the menu boards which now don't tell you what things are and they've like everyone else increased prices of normal items, including items that used to be included. Sandwiches used to come with chips, and now sandwiches are more and the small single size of chips are $4! Apparently they didn't read PepsiCo just missed a billion dollars in sales because they keep raising prices on Doritos. I can see add-ons for high quality products like soup, specialty fries, etc. I also know GDFC has expanded into KC, and I've been and spent healthy money at that luxury spot several times. But c'mon, this is just ludicrous charges at this point. When I realized the chip change, I asked for a refund of those alone, and the new sales terminal system took forever for multiple people to figure out. The manager on duty had to ultimately refund the whole thing, and reorder my entire order, meaning it's now cost all of us money in time. The staff is completely different - there's a chef in the back wearing a white coat like it's fine dining... the rest of the staff is friendly enough, but also not the same level of home we all got used to for many years. My sandwich finally came out, and it looks nothing like what we used to get - the Cuban is on a hoagie style roll. Not even that good anymore. No more winery inside, and limited drink options overall. And no more fresh ice cream, just overpriced "soft serve." I know we're in times that are a'changin... but some of it has gone too far. Hopefully they keep the same level of loyal business I imagine they had before. My loyalty has definitely shifted instantly to once in a while, if that.

Our…read moreparty of eight was seated immediately (a rare and glorious feat), and waters arrived in record time. Most of the table fueled up with coffee, while I had to make do with a Diet Pepsi--an acceptable substitute, though my Coke Zero-loving heart shed a quiet tear. The café itself is charmingly quirky, with local artwork adorning the walls--some for sale, some just adding to the cozy atmosphere. It's the kind of place where you instantly feel at home, like a neighborhood gem that's been serving up comfort for years. I ordered the Veggie Lover Breakfast (half portion, $8.99) and a side of raisin toast--because let's be real, if raisin toast is on the menu, it's happening. My husband went all in with the Weston Café Skillet ($12.99), a hearty and reasonably priced meal. Despite the size of our group, the food arrived quickly, hot, and all at once--a small breakfast miracle. If you're in Weston and looking for a friendly spot with great food and small-town charm, Weston Café is the place to be. Just be prepared to settle for Diet Pepsi if you're a Coke Zero fan.

Service was fun and quick. We tried the half skillet (no one needs a whole one ), chicken fried steak, Weston Benedict, and the meat and cheese omelet. Though we didn't sit in the restaurant proper, the magic of modern technology (a wee QR code) brought the feast straight to our table without missing a beat. We started with the Sausage Sampler, a delightfully hearty offering with the O'Malley Stout Banger and Lil Lucy's hot pepper sausage, served up with a tangy beer mustard and house BBQ sauce. Cut into perfect little circles for sharing--though truth be told, I was tempted to keep them all for myself! At $8.99, it was a steal fit for a thrifty lass. Next up, the Scotch Eggs ($8.99)--two glorious hard-boiled eggs, lovingly wrapped in sausage and fried to golden perfection. If there's a food that makes you believe in miracles, this was it. Absolutely divine! And, of course, what Irish outing would be complete without Fish & Chips? At $14.99, the cod was fried to crisp perfection, and the zesty remoulade gave it a delightful kick. The fries were standard, but let's be honest, we were too busy savoring the rest to mind. With the warm pub atmosphere and proper Irish offerings, it felt like a slice of the Emerald Isle right there in Weston. Sláinte--we'll be back for more the next time we are in the area!

(Especially in this economy) While ordering online, be aware that the time it says on the ordering portal/site is not generally accurate. I, on multiple occasions, have ordered something with a specific pick up time selected (I left plenty of time, thirty minutes from when I ordered to when I wanted to pick it up) and the food still was not ready. Ex: ordered at 11:30 am, pick up time of 11:55-12:00, food was ready closer to 12:10 and I received the 'your food is ready text' at 12:45 pm. While this isn't a bad thing if you have time, if you're on a tight lunch schedule I'd look otherwise. This location is also a bit smaller than their Parkville location, so if it's crowded it's very noticeable and can get a little overwhelming. I do prefer the Platte City location to Parkville though, as their Parkville location doesn't do that good of a job when I order online (this may just be me but I have to take it into consideration). Overall, I do recommend it, just be aware that it is pricey, when packed it can get a little overwhelming, and be aware of how long you have to eat.

They serve a variety of deli meats and cheeses, available to go as well as on sandwiches. The wall of chips is impressive too! I ordered a toasted plain bagel, perfectly golden, along with a white chocolate macadamia nut hot drink. The bagel was incredibly fresh, with a warm, slightly chewy texture reminiscent of homemade bread. My drink was made with half the usual sweetness, using creamy oat milk, and had a rich, balanced flavor that was very satisfying. Next time I'll plan to get a cinnamon roll - those are huge and look delicious!! I plan to add this place to my coffee-and-breakfast routine.
