This review is long overdue…read more.. No trip to my hometown is complete without a visit to get a Spanish dog. The "place" has long since changed and I must admit I miss the old place down the road that no longer exists and hasn't for years...lots of memories there. Not to mention my parents and grandparents frequented that old Root Beer Stand. I do like the idea that when this "new" place was built years ago they added inside dining. Even the folks who grumbled and/or cried years ago when the old place was torn down liked the idea of indoor dining! Besides, depending on the mood, it is nice to eat inside, and the old place used to close down in the cold months. I've watched the prices go up over the years, but I keep coming. The taste has changed over the years as well, but I still keep coming. Well, there was a year in there when I stopped because of the recipe changing too much and that period when the hotdogs themselves were different. I do miss the old recipe, and they are using it, but I think the people who make it have a lot to do with it and employees come and go, so that special something is lost. The root beer is always super cold and delicious and mushrooms are normally pretty good. They have daily specials and I can honestly say that I've had everything on the menu, but the Spanish dog is the "go-to" item in my opinion. They still come to your car to take your order and bring your food to you if you pull up under the overhang. But it's not like the old days when you automatically got a tray and had to start up your car for them to come get your tray (trash, mugs, etc.)...I miss that. Now you take care of the trash, etc. and you don't get glass mugs unless you sit inside. Root beer tastes better in glass mugs...jus' sayin'. Although it's not as unique as it used to be, it's still a unique place. Be advised, when you stay in your car to order, they will take your card to run it inside. Be aware of this in advance, but it's safe. Aside from the area to place your order from your car and eat, there is plenty of other parking if you wish to eat inside. Just be sure to not park in the area where folks wish to pull up and eat (the overhang area)...make sense? And if you eat inside, take time to enjoy the décor. The black & white checkered floor sets the stage for the 1950s motif complete with a jukebox and cool bar perfect for enjoying a root beer float. There are restrooms as well. The staff is staff. Prices are a tad high, but it's worth it. Moreover, they stay open year-round. No matter how you slice it...a bite of a Spanish dog brings back memories for me...my childhood, my wild teenage days, friends, fond memories of family, and just some really good thoughts and vibes. And that is what keeps me coming back... Please note: The B-K in Piqua and the one in Troy are no longer affiliated from what I understand. So, please do not confuse this one with the one in Piqua. The food tastes the same, but different (for lack of a better term), and nearly the same menus. Try both and decide which one you like more! But remember, the one in Piqua is open seasonally.

The Spanish dog with cheese is great! The French fried…read moremushrooms are yummy. The service is excellent.

I recently ordered delivery from this Culver's restaurant…read more I ordered the Mushroom and Swiss Value Basket which comes with a drink and side. I ordered the onion rings as a side which is about a dollar up charge. I also ordered a single patty ButterBurger with cheese. Delivery was really quick. The Mushroom and Swiss burger came in its own box. Both burgers were very good. They were seasoned really well, fried good and quite appetizing. The hamburger bun is a little thicker than most burger joints. The onion rings were very good, fried perfectly and not overtly greasy. The onion rings come with your choice of sauce. I chose Culver's signature sauce which is a white sauce, mildly spicy, and has a pickle taste in my opinion. I highly recommend. Food is a little more than most fast food places, but everything was packaged carefully and it appears they take pride in the food that they serve.

When you enter you see the big menu. Salads, Fish, Chicken, sides & Frozen Custard. It was our first visit to a Culver's as there is no other location in south Dayton. After seeing commercials for years we had to start with their burgers. The deluxe comes with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, cheese & ketchup. You can customize as I did with cheese, lettuce & mayo-note the burgers have shredded lettuce. The crinkle cut fries were fantastic & hot right of the fryer with just the right amount of salt. They have Coke products & you fill your own drinks. They have a deal where you order burger, fries & drink or you can substitute the drink for a milkshake or concrete mixer. You can also have that served with your meal or later. I went with the later option, they give you a printout to take to the counter to have made right away. I had chocolate concrete mixer with Dove Dark chocolate pieces & M&M's it was delicious! We enjoyed talking with fellow diners. One loves their salads, which hers looked so good with grilled chicken & another couple raved about their fish, which also looked really good too. They were really busy because they just opened the burger was okay, but appeared to be thrown together & the cheese wasn't melted. Definitely going to return as there is so much on their menu & would like to try & definitely have another mixer as there are so many you can customize. Thanks Culver's for great visit tonight

I frequently order cod, shrimp, and walleye at Culver's and it is better than fish at many sit down restaurants. Definitely the best seafood at any fast food restaurant. My food was brought out quickly, as soon as I parked. Always a good experience at Culver's.

The employees at the counter were welcoming & took our order quickly. We each ordered the one piece walleye dinner with coleslaw, roll & butter & fries. I decided to switch out the fries for onion rings. Hubby got a Coke but I chose to skip the Coke products (not a fan) & drink water. We asked for our senior discount & got it. The food was delivered to our table by a polite employee within 6-7 minutes. The walleye was scrumptious though a little on the greasy side. We had to use several napkins to soak up the excess oil. The tartar sauce served with the fish was very good. I was disappointed with the onion rings as they were dry & tasteless. Hubby told one of the employees that I wanted to try their made in-house signature root beer & she gave it to me free of charge. It was really refreshing & I appreciated the gesture. We will definitely eat here again.
