First thing I noticed when walking in was there's a TON of flies around, food is uncovered and exposed and I watched flies land on stuff....Also the meat that was out on my sandwich was questionable looking...Also quite stingy with the toppings. They really need to step up their fly control game because it's gross to think what they landed on when I wasn't here. Wouldn't come here again until they deal with the flies. read more

We stopped there on the way to Waimea Canyon. There was a sign on the door that said only two people were permitted in the store at a time, presumably because of COVID. There were two people already in the store so we waited our turn to enter the store. After 5 minutes or so, a customer came out and my girlfriend went in to start her order. After the other customer came out, I went in to wait my turn to order. While we were waiting two other people walked into the store. The woman working at Subway didn't ask them to wait outside. So much for the store respecting the COVID restrictions. Then another person walked in. Now we had five customers in a store that is only suppose to have two customers in it. Another person that worked at Subway came out and took the order of the person behind me. I thought she took that person's order because my girlfriend and I were together and the same employee was suppose to make both of our orders. After my girlfriend's sandwich was made , I tried to give the younger woman my order and she said that I had to go to the end of the line. Unbelievable. I was there first, the other people weren't even allowed to be in the store, and the Subway employee is now telling me I have to wait until the three people that arrived after me were waited on. Needless to say, I did not wait. I will be reporting this behavior to the owner of the store, Subway corporation and the Hawaiian board of health (or whoever oversees compliance with COVID restrictions). The younger employee was rude, unapologetic and if I owned this business I would fire her. read more

I ate at this location last night and the night prior, the food is the freshest I've found at subway (in Kauai) last night the 2 girls working were talking about their personal business with customers around, and talking about a customer badly after he left. I don't know what their names were because they had no name tags. When Kawika (only one who wears a name tag lol) is there the customer service is on point, he works fast and accurately and has a much better personality that the other employees. If Kawika isn't there I wouldn't recommend anyone go there. read more

Couldn't find any other sandwich places in Waimea so ended up here. Girls were friendly and actually made the sandwich better than at home. Slower and not all thrown together! Yes, the don't have some of the ingredients that Subways in CA have, but that's not a big deal. Just a Hawaii thing! Bad service .. Employees seem slow and lazy ... When I walked in employees sitting down and one was on her phone and didn't even look up from phone and said in unenthusiastic voice loudly " welcome to subway so and so will be right with u" just loud enough so the girl from the back comes out To help me . We generally love Subway, and it is one of the most abundant restaurants on the island so we had to have some eventually. This place is pretty tiny, don't plan on eating there. The staff is hit or miss as far as friendliness goes, but that's pretty typical when you hire high school kids. They have all of the standard subs, but in typical island fashion, it all costs a bit more then on the mainland. ($5 foot longs is actually $6). The food was really good. It tasted like any other Subway. But the only reason I gave them a 4 stars was because of their customer service. They kinda gave me a weird look when I wanted something weird on my sub. The phrase is " Have it your way" I don't need then to judge me and the weird foods I like. read more

Not enthusiastic about this place because I went at lunch time and the only bread they had was flat bread. The service was great and the selection of items is just like all the rest of the Subways. Horrible experience!! Credit Card machines down and very slow staff. I understand Island time, but not snail time! I literally had to ask if everything was okay and to move my sandwich along the line. One sandwich took 15 minutes to complete.... I could have gone to store and made 5 sandwiches in that time. Management should do some more training and have the girls watch themselves on video....they would learn a lot about themselves and customer service. read more

I know, I'm being nice. The service is slow and the help is there, but not really. For some reason it seems like they're in another world. Orders do get messed up form time to time. Best advice - Check the bag before you leave the store and make sure you keep an eye out when they build your sandwich. All in all - its subway! read more

If I could, I would give this place ZERO stars. This subway is the worst and I usually don't like to complain about stuff like this but this place stinks! I went in last week to get a foot long pastrami melt, and didn't get out until 30 minutes later!! The workers move like turtles. Almost all of the staff is not friendly at all. Sometimes there are 4 people working, and you can clearly see half of them sitting down or waiting by the register when there is a long line of costumers. Lots of times, they don't have all (or even most) of the bread selections. It's as if they want to wait until almost all of the bread is gone until they make more! Do not waste your time at this subway, unless you are in the area and absolutely desperate for a subway sandwich.
