Now, I'm no spring chicken and throughout my time on this planet I've had many,many steak sandwiches. You know, the usual stringy, cardboardy, uneatable, thin tiny piece of meat. But because I needed an iron hit that's what I opted for. The steak sandwich arrived on my table, it looked pretty much like any other I'd had before but then I took a bite. ..... PERFECTION! Surprise? The steak was fillet, plenty of it (drool) and cooked b-eeeeautifully :) Whenever I'm in that area again I'm going in for another treat.

It wasn't until a friend drove me to his favourite shop that I got to try the great selection. The guys Adam and Joe took over from the original owners and cakes are made specially by Marissa. On this visit I tried only the ice cream and gelato. It was very tasty and will have to work through all of them to find my favourite. There are not many tables inside and it is a very casual setting. What I did notice was the large number of people coming through the door for a takeaway ice cream. I'll be back.

It's a nice looking place in a bit of a tacky way, with a bright purple feature wall with cheap looking 'art' hanging around the place. The Scottish lady who served us was very sweet, and I'm assuming she's the owner of this seemingly family-runned business. We got our coffee and tea, the tea being served in a plunger which we liked because it meant my friend got approximately two cups of tea for my one coffee, and they were pretty good. Coffee was a little bitter, but not in a very bad way. I was still able to drink it! Then, our bacon and egg sandwiches came out - served by the most adorable and professional little 10 year old boy I've ever seen. It was the cutest thing. I liked the family feel that this place gave off, that everyone is there to help out. And the kid did a good job! Also, the toasted sandwiches were great for just $4! Not the best place to go for breakfast, but due to it being right near my place it's probably somewhere I would definitely venture back too.

Very reasonable prices, $6.80 for the sandwich and $12.90 for the meal. I just wish I could fit in coffee and some of the carrot cake, but I might have to return for them later.

The store offers the same range of hot and cold baked goods, coffee and sandwiches - but there is a renewal about their attitude which is reflecting really well throughout the store. They recently held an Open Day with free cupcakes with cupcake decorating which attracted a lot of children and their families. This was a great way for the regular and local customers to meet the new owners. The store was also completely renovated in the last few months with new couch seating which creates a more relaxed atmosphere and has attracted a younger clientele, different from the hoards of 50+ you normally see there. Try and a vanilla profiterole or a hedgehog slice, they are so good! The coffee has also won some awards with prestigious judges, a fact they are very proud of.

Then I got my coffee, and it was way too hot to drink, so I took it away and waited a while before I drank it. I didn't even finish it, it was pretty horrible coffee unfortunately, and I'm not very picky when it comes to coffee. The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is because the lady was really nice and their salads etc for their sandwiches looked really fresh and appetising. So, it's somewhere good to stop off and grab a quick bite and a Farmers Union Iced Coffee, but I wouldn't recommend having a real coffee. Just saying.
