Nev's Supa Deli has - over the years - turned into a lunch bar, a coffee shop, a lotto stop, a cafe…read moreand a small grocery all rolled into one. What makes it better is the great family feel to the place and the keen and helpful service. The Milky family run this place and they get to know you and your order as you come in. The same family that owns Argos on the Parade, they have a great range of sandwiches and lunch options (including gluten free sandwiches and lunches), desserts and pies and pastries. They make a great coffee and have pretty much all of the essentials you might urgently need in the kitchen. This deli is open all of the time, from about 7am until about 7pm every day - including Christmas day, which has come in SO handy. There are tables and chairs and they encourage people to dine in the shop to create more of a cafe atmosphere - and they're succeeding. In the past few years, I have seen business increase to such an extent that I avoid going there during weekday lunch hours, where all the local tradies and council workers come for lunch, and somehow - the people serving manage to keep track of all of their names, orders and stories.

Nothing fancy just plain old toasted rolls and sandwiches. I don't even pay that price in the CBD of Adelaide. Never going back.

Great new spot for comfort food in the market…read more Make sure you look for it in the Market Arcade and not in the Central Market (which I did for 15 minutes...) Once I did find it I was welcomed by friendly staff. Basic toasties at $7.50 and more adventurous toasties are $9.50, each with about 2 or 3 different ingredients. Looks like each toastie takes max 5 minutes to make and if you dine in, it comes with a little salad too. I tried the Tandoori Chicken toastie on recommendation from the staff and was not disappointed. Coffee was pretty good too. Great for a quick lunch if you're in the area, don't forget to leave a note on the blackboard too!

Toasties... Mmmmm. What can possibly go wrong?…read more The newly opened Tohsti is already getting a bit of a buzz and was featured in CityMag awhile ago. It's conveniently located in the newly revamped (check out all the new stores!) Central Market arcade, best located near the entrance coming in from Gouger St. The 'gourmet' toasties start form $9.50, they also do house shakes etc and a whole slew of other brilliant creations. If sweet toasties are you thing, they do that too! I got the roast pork, sauerkraut and cheese toastie with pumpkin bread which was pretty damn good. It comes with a salad as well which makes the meal perfect! I also go the Agro milkshake - give them a go! Protip: Come before or after lunchtime, it gets pretty busy and service can be lacking a bit.

Oh yeah, this is one f*cking awesome food truck!…read more Today I sampled both the southern-style chicken and slaw bun with pickles, onion rings and ranch, as well as the Texas pulled pork and slaw bun with BBQ corn and BB pickles. (both $9) In a word? YUM-AZING. To top it off, they have *cherry* Dr. Pepper in the fridge. These guys literally cannot get any damn better! The truck shows up in various spots around the CBD for lunchtime, so check their FB page for where they're going to be on a given day. They usually announce it the night before, along with the menu items they'll be serving.

There's usually only 2 or 3 choices served each time the Van is on the road. You get to choose from some of the following tasty treats: Toasted Rueben, Texas Pulled Pork Roll, Pastrami on Rye, Cajun Prawn Po Boy, Beef Debris Po Boy, Philly Cheese Steak, Southern Fried Chicken Bun or even a Salad and of course the always present Deep Fried Pickles The home made Slaw is an excellent add on the great tasting meats used and even a BBQ Corn Cob that comes with the Pulled Pork Roll adds an extra something. The flavours are just great and at a decent price. To top it all off the owner/staff in the Van are great, going out of their way to remember their regulars. a real nice touch.

If you love good quality food, you'll love Norwood Fine Foods…read more They stock really delicious small goods, pates, a huge array of cheese which can be cut to order and lots of other t'riffics - sweet and savoury. All the staff are passion foodies and will happily chat about different products on offer and let you try before you decide. They do an amazing trade at lunch time with their hugely popular baguettes. When I worked at Kent Town, I would drive past a dozen other sandwich places to buy my lunch here. There are 12 choices filled with all the yummy fillings you see in the display. They are made to order (they're pretty quick) so you can add or change any filling you like. Baguettes are around the $8 to $10 mark. Norwood Fine Foods is in the Norwood Mall next to Coles.

Cheese and cured meats and pickled onions, oh my!…read more For fans of gourmet small goods, be prepared to pass out when you enter the doors of this place. Stacked to the rafters with pantry delights (many of them local and South Australian), you'll spot olives, cheese cut to order, dips and so on, as well as gift packs for the food lovers in your life. Personally, I prefer to head down to the Central Markets for my small good needs (cheaper, more variety) but this place is a good second for a local option. They also yummy take away foods, like the baguettes that Rani mentioned. My hot tip: the kranskys here are GOOD. Yummy and made on the spot so they're fresh and good quality, though they don't offer a lot of toppings or chili sauce which makes me a little bit sad.
