We came for a nice hot breakfast for my birthday on a cold and rainy morning. After spending $55 on breakfast and coffee for two, we sat and waited for our meals to come. We had no issue with the timeframe, as it was obvious they were busy and we were happy to wait and enjoy our coffee.
Our food came out served by a stone-faced middle aged woman, who barely allowed us the time to move our hands out of the way before she unceremoniously dumped our plates in the middle of the table, without asking who had ordered what or even acknowledging our existence.
We both had a little laugh about the service and started our meals, only to find, aside from my scrambled eggs, that they were as cold as a plate of vegetables left uneaten by a fussy 4 year old.
After making another server aware of our issue with the breakfast, she kindly advised she would speak with the chef. Upon her return she informed us that they could 're-heat' our food. Whether this would have been using a microwave or the grill, as she stated, we wouldn't ever know, as we declined this insufficient offer. After years working in a commercial kitchen, I highly doubt that our bacon, eggs, beans etc would have been put on the grill to reheat. Microwave reheated bacon and eggs is not what I would consider to be edible.
The server sweetly apologized and offered us a card for a free coffee upon our return, acknowledging that this wouldn't make up for our experience.
We decided to eat our cold meals before leaving, unsatisfied.
Any of these experiences alone, wouldn't be enough to normally make you not want to return, but when you add them all together, makes for an unpleasant and expensive ordeal.
Considering that these are the same people that bring you Argo on the Parade, which has brought nothing but exemplary service and excellent food, I was extremely disappointed.
Suffice to say that I did not take them up on the free coffee offer, as we would not be returning.
Happy birthday to me. read more
