At first, I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy having breakfast at this little cafe on Payneham Rd (particularly when they are advertised to open at 7am, but on this day they didn't open until 10am - but I didn't ask why). It's a nice looking place in a bit of a tacky way, with a bright purple feature wall with cheap looking 'art' hanging around the place.
The Scottish lady who served us was very sweet, and I'm assuming she's the owner of this seemingly family-runned business.
We got our coffee and tea, the tea being served in a plunger which we liked because it meant my friend got approximately two cups of tea for my one coffee, and they were pretty good. Coffee was a little bitter, but not in a very bad way. I was still able to drink it!
Then, our bacon and egg sandwiches came out - served by the most adorable and professional little 10 year old boy I've ever seen. It was the cutest thing. I liked the family feel that this place gave off, that everyone is there to help out. And the kid did a good job! Also, the toasted sandwiches were great for just $4!
Not the best place to go for breakfast, but due to it being right near my place it's probably somewhere I would definitely venture back too. read more
