This was only our second visit, yet three employees--two younger staff members and one other lady--recognized us immediately and seemed genuinely excited to see us back. It wasn't the forced "customer service" kind of friendliness; it felt sincere. They greeted us warmly, remembered us, and made us feel like regulars after only one prior visit. In a world where so many places make you feel like just another transaction, that kind of hospitality leaves an impression. The food brought us back, but the people are what will keep us coming. The manager was extremely apologetic and told me she was going to send one of her employees to personally deliver my food. I insisted that it was totally fine and she didn't have to do that but she was adamant and said they would be leaving soon! The employee arrived with my food within 15 minutes and she was so kind. The order process online went smoothly and the food was ready promptly. I was disappointed by the gyro and ended up not eating it. For the uninitiated, a gyro sandwich is a pita bread filled with gyro meat, tzatziki sauce, and sometimes lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. The meat is made of a blend of seasoned lamb and beef meat molded around a vertical spit. The spit rotates and the outside is exposed to a heat source. As the meat broils, the chef carves off slices or chunks from the sections that have browned. Typically the gyro meat is cooked to "well done." The meat in my gyro was not browned; rather it was lighter colored and had a mealy mouthfeel. I've eaten gyros in traditional Greek restaurants and casual eateries in Chicago, Austin, San Francisco Bay Area, and now Denver, and this was the first time I've tasted the meat cooked this way. Three stars because the restaurant looked well kept and reasonably clean, the service was polite, and it's possible other people are not bothered by manner of preparation of the gyro.
