Subuary Subway
Michael C.

I frequent a lot of different Subways on a regular basis, due to the nature of the field of work I'm in. The Subway on Upper Union always seems to build a better sandwich. Maybe some of you feel this way, maybe you don't. But when I usually go in and order a foot-long sub, it usually turns out to be all veg and no meat...and that's with me ordering a roast beef sub sandwich. I'm talking about maybe getting 4-5 thinly sliced pieces to cover an entire 12" x 3.5" sub. I'm one to get all the veggies piled on, but I still want to be able to taste some meat. I can honestly say that the Subway on Upper Union will make you a roast beef sub with at least 8 slices of meat (the correct amount for a roast beef sub according to Subway's corporate website) and sometimes even more. Whenever I am there, the veggies are always fresh and so is the yogurt parfait I always get on the side with My sub. So for that, Salute you Union Street Subway. There cookies. For some this is important. Cookies at different Subways are largely inconsistent. Some are soft and chewy, others are hard and chunky. Some taste like they are a day old, while others have a weird salty play-doh after taste to them, that is really unpleasant. Subway on Union has the cookies on lock-down! They make them soft and chewy with a hint of cookie dough still left in the center. That's just how I like 'em. The staff is always friendly to me and they are quick to make my sandwich. I've never had to wait more than 6 minutes, and that's with a line out the door. You can find them located on the corner of Dean and Union Street, across from the McDonald's. They share a building with Union Beverage Center. Go there if you are looking for an inexpensive fresh sandwich. It's a great alternative to fast food like McDonald's, and because I'm on the road a lot, I try to eat fresh instead of fast.

Storefront looks like an old speakeasy entrance. This side faces Union, but the store is really on Dean Street.

After reading this food critics article -- "I Asked 6 Chefs…read morefor the Best Fast Food Fried Chicken, and This Classic Won by a Landslide" By Karla Walsh Allrecipes I headed to the closest Popeyes to pick up lunch for my 20 year old grandson and me. The article is based on critiquing nationally available fast food fried chicken. Six experts selected a winner, and it was Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen by a landslide. Here is their justification: "When it comes to fast food fried chicken, no one does it better than Popeyes. They've really nailed the salty, peppery, crispy coating, adored by this Southerner. Plus, Popeyes chicken is always juicy and tender, even the breast pieces, which are often dry at fast food places. The moistness they are talking about is likely due to the 12-hour marinade the brand boasts about on its website." Another Excerpt -- "Popeyes' crust really knocks it out of the park. It has the crispiest breading that's never soggy, greasy, or underseasoned." No wonder Popeyes came out on top during our team's taste test, too." At the drive thru, we picked up our order of Crispy Chicken with Louisiana Seasoning and Wings. Shortly after, we concluded that the fried chicken was even better than KFC and way better than Chick Fil A. We agreed with the experts who wrote the article. In addition, the bone in and boneless Wings from Popeyes were also excellent. And the Sauces! The Mardis Gras and the Sweet Heat dipping sauces were outstanding.

What do I want/expect from a chain fast food place when I order takeout?…read more *Efficient drive thru ordering system (Order is displayed on screen as you order) *Ability to order with special directions such as no condiments; directions followed *Food tastes freshly prepared *Good value *Prompt service *Hot, well packaged food items I got all of the above at the Burger King on Erie Blvd in Schenectady when I ordered Take-out for husband, me, and grandchildren (ages 8 to 14) on THREE separate visits in the last six months. Comments: Fries were crispy, HOT, and not greasy; they tasted like real potatoes unlike at other chain places. The fries were enjoyed and finished! "Two Meals for $10" or "$5.00 Sandwich" Special on last visit -- Burgers, chicken or fish sandwiches each came with TWO fries ($10. included two sandwiches plus four fries) Asked to pull up ahead, my order was delivered to my car after a short, reasonable time. Special directions were noted and reflected in food received. In our collective opinion: Much better food than the big McD. Better prices than Wendy's.

worst experience ever regarding customer service. I…read moreordered a classic chicken sandwich , but I was given a crispy chicken sandwich instead. I immediately noticed the mistake (I was still at the counter). The manager refused to change my untouched sandwich because the receipt indicated a crispy chicken sandwich. I explained that the worker must have rang up my order incorrectly ( the same thing happened the prior week). the manager ignored me and would not change my sandwich. for 10 minutes, I remained at the counter, at this point I'm yelling at the manager to provide service-- the correct sandwich or a refund. the manager continued to ignore me. she refused to give me the correct sandwich or refund my money. I finally had to leave because I had to get to work. I left without food, the manager kept my money ( in essence, she stole the money from me). the only reason I did not call the police ( for petty theft) was because I had to get to work.

I get it by the pound with the Bama sauce and make my own lettuce wraps. Not a fan of the kimchi slaw. I would like a regular slaw option, but I get it. Friendly people with an excellent attitude for delivering quality food. Delighted to learn this is a locally owned and operated place. So this is going to be a startling review -- a five star review of a place called Meat & Company by…read moresome vegetarians. We went the first time because it was one of those days, and our non-vegetarian kid was desperate to eat and we were in the neighborhood. So while he chowed down on the pork sandwich platter (which was, he reported, excellent, and I can tell you the aroma made my mouth water), we split one of each non-meat side available. Chips, Potato Salad, Mac and Cheese, the Japanese eggplant, and the Kimchi Coleslaw. (I think we passed on the beans because they had pork in them.) They were FABULOUS! I mean, I've had plenty of BBQ sides in my time, back when we were carnivores, and I've tried them all. I can think of maybe two or three others that were the equals here, but for a limited run of options, it was non-pareil. It kind of makes me wish they'd put their minds to a veggie sandwich, the name of the place notwithstanding. They do the maillard reaction proud. One tiny tip for the owners: "Reuben" is misspelled on your menu.
