Huguette B. Aug.04,2026…read more From our trip to Calgary from Vancouver ,we stopped by the store for two pies to bring to our son. I should have check the bill right away as it had an unwarranted charge of a tip of 30% that I did not agree to($13. 00 dollars for two pies). The final bill for two pies $65.00 dollars instead of $52.00. They were good but not for that price. And to make matters worst, on our trip back to Vancouver, we stopped on August 04 ,the store was closed. Why ?? The holiday was the 3rd not the 4th. This was the second time that this unorthodox closure has affected us. I just dont understand that during a busy TOURIST season that you would do this. And because of this rationale we will not be buying your products anymore. we did stop because family and friends were asking and at the same time ,I would have asked about the tip charge on my previous visit ..if that is a usual practice to add a tip like this over the counter purchase. Totally disappointed in Shuswap Pie Company.

It's fairly crowded inside and Covid 19 measures haven't really been followed, but it's got a nice atmosphere and during non-pandemic times there was nothing wrong with the table spacing. It's generally friendly, food comes as ordered and is good. It's just not a reliable place so it's not worth making plans to go there. Generally when it is open it's open for breakfast or brunch, it's never open in the afternoon or evening and I don't think it's open on the weekends or Monday... and other days... it seems to be when they feel like it until they decide to close.

It's small, quaint and in a smallish space with a couple of tables out front and a patio in back. It's dog friendly which we love, and a bit of a hole in the wall which we love even more. The service is counter service where you place your order, pay, receive a number and then sit while they prepare your sandwich, or whatever you order. The menu is small, which like the place makes sense. I had the grilled cheese with added ham for a very reasonable price and the lovely K had the daily special. Both were good, not five star worthy, but solid. We both had water, not really coffee folks, so can't comment on that, but the murmurs were that the coffee was great. For us a great place to grab a quick lunch and enjoy the sunshine in Armstrong, what could be better than that.

When you first arrive there are two parts to the restaurant. One part is just for food and the other is for cake and desserts. We knew we wanted food so we went to the entrance on the right. The menu is quite simple and they specialize on French pastries/breakfast items. I got the Westcoast Montreal Bagel. They really nailed it. I love the smoke salmon in it along with the alfalfa. The bagel was made the Montreal way. It was nice and chewy. It had the right texture. I loved it. B had the large poutine. It was a bit peppery but that was very tasty. They were very generous on the cheese curd which was really nice. Seating can be hard to find given the restaurant isn't very big. There are seatings outside as well. Most people eat and then leave. We ended up sitting on the sofa with the fireplace which was not bad. We do prefer a normal table that was ok for us. I tried a piece of my friend's sticky bun and that was very tasty as well. It is kind of messy to eat. So far the items I tried were tasty. They do have street parking and parking lot dedicated to their customer.
