Today I found a place "where diets come to die a delicious death." It's called Country Crust Bakery…read morein Bainbridge, Ohio, and what a find it was! We were out exploring the area when we stumbled across this charming little bakery run by a group of Amish girls. The moment you walk through the door, your senses go into overdrive. The smell of freshly baked pies, cookies, breads, and pastries fills the air, and I swear I started drooling before I even reached the display case. As I quickly learned, "walking in here with self-control is like bringing a snowball to Florida." It simply doesn't exist! Mine certainly didn't. I ended up leaving with two peach fry pies, a loaf of cheddar jalapeño bread, and a glazed donut. My wife chose one of their giant fresh-baked pretzels with cream cheese. It was served warm and was absolutely delicious. Then I dug into the glazed donut, and wow--light, fluffy, and it practically melted in my mouth. This was our first visit, but there's no doubt we'll be back. In fact, I can easily see us becoming regulars. A quick heads-up: they accept cash or checks, but no credit cards, so plan accordingly. Country Crust also has a cute little café area where they serve pizzas and sandwiches. From what I saw, those sandwiches were absolutely ginormous. I didn't order one this time, but trust me, the brisket on a pretzel bun and the Reuben both have my name written all over them for a future visit. If you're anywhere near Bainbridge and have a sweet tooth--or just appreciate great homemade baked goods--do yourself a favor and make the drive. Your taste buds will thank you, even if your diet won't. "Worth every calorie and every mile driven."

Found this gem on our way to see the Serpent mounds. It's a definite Must stop for yumminess!…read more donuts, breads, cookies, baked goods galore. Prices are low and affordable! Donuts are big and fluffy! Glazed donuts are $10 for a dozen! Wish we tried the pretzels and sandwiches. ***CASH or CHECK ONLY!

Stopped counting how many times I've driven past Kim's Classic Diner like it was a roadside…read moremirage... until a 24‑hour shift and the siren song of actual homemade breakfast (vs. Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch pretending to be a meal) finally won me over . Quick facts: Kim's Classic Diner https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100071643982262 303 W. Washington St, Sabina, OH 937‑944‑3939 Wed-Thu & Fri 7am-3:30pm; Sat-Sun 7am-1:30pm (Mon-Tue closed) Vintage 1946 Silk City Diner shell, restored by Kim & Ken Starr -- yes, it's basically a stainless‑steel time machine on the National Register of Historic Places. #HistoryNerdsRejoice Walked in at 8am, got greeted by Amber (who immediately filled my 20 oz Yeti like she'd known me for years), and felt like a regular before I even ordered. That's either great hospitality or they have a secret BaldWhiteGuy membership card I didn't know about. ‍ The food: I went with the #5 Jetstar 88 -- fluffy omelet, homefries, smothered in sausage gravy, cheddar on top, toast on the side. Because who doesn't want to start their day with a gravy blanket? * Gravy: The edible version of a warm hug that also apologizes for your life choices. * Homefries: Potato therapy -- crunchy on the edges, soft on the inside, zero judgment. * Eggs: Sunlight on a plate. Scrambled for the soul. Food came out fast, tasted like the kind of breakfast your grandma would approve of. #MostImportantMealofTheDay. Service was friendly, the place is spotless, and the era original booths are delightfully snug -- historically accurate and a gentle reminder that we've all gotten a little wider since 1946. Met Kim & Ken -- absolute #legends. They gave me the diner tour, showed photos of its journey (New Jersey New York Michigan Sabina), and told stories like it's a movie set that keeps getting better. Apparently Kim's Classic Diner has been in movies. #Famous Minor gripes: And by Minor, I mean hardly worth mentioning * Coffee = $3.05. Yes, it was good. No, it was not brewed with gold flakes. * No WiFi. Some will call it a crime; I call it a forced digital detox. Enjoy the pie, talk to a human, stare at the chrome. Final verdict -- Bald Head Rating: 4 of 5 Bald Heads ‍‍‍‍ Lost a head for the coffee price and the lack of WiFi (but gained a few for atmosphere and gravy). Huge shoutout to Kim, Ken, Amber, and the whole crew -- you brought a piece of diner history back to life and gave Sabina a damn fine breakfast spot.
