They do not care what you want on the sub. They will say ok but then not put things on it. How do you eat a cold cut with no Mayo?

    Havana13 Restaurant & Bar - Cubano sandwich

The Hidden Flavor Bomb in a Strip Mall…read more We stumbled upon this place on our way home from North Carolina, and let me just say, do not let the strip mall location fool you. This spot is a flavor-packed gem you do not want to miss. On a random Wednesday night, the place was clean, bustling, and buzzing with satisfied diners. That is always a good sign. The menu is a glorious mashup of Cuban, Puerto Rican, and Dominican dishes. If your taste buds had passports, they would get stamped three times just by looking at it. Our server, who was fast, friendly, and clearly knew her stuff, recommended the traditional Puerto Rican platter. Bless her. This plate was a full-on party. The roasted pork was the kind you dream about--tender, juicy, and seasoned to perfection. The traditional rice tasted like a family recipe handed down for generations. Sweet plantains added just the right touch of comfort, and the cabbage salad brought a refreshing contrast. It had tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, and a balsamic vinaigrette. If I had one suggestion, I would swap in white balsamic instead of dark. The taste was spot on, but the color made it slightly less visually appealing. Someone else in our group ordered the Cubano sandwich, which came out looking like it could feed two people easily. It was massive. They only made it halfway through. The fries were served in a little basket, hot and crispy, just the way they should be. Best of all, everything was reasonably priced. If you are in the area or passing through, do yourself a favor. Stop in, loosen your belt, and prepare to leave full, happy, and a little surprised that a place this good came out of a humble strip mall.

I never had a pork chop sandwich, so I decided to give it a try. I was surprised to see it was none-in, but tasty for sure. I did t expect it to be just a pork chop on a sandwich roll. Wondering if I should have included toppings. The waitress didn't ask so I just went with the flow. I did ask for hot sauce to kick it up a notch. The waitress was very nice and attentive. The menu has a lot of comfort foods on it. The atmosphere is casual and relaxing. Check them out!

Excited to find a soul food restaurant on our trip . Amber worked really hard and as efficient as…read moreshe could since she was the hostess , waitress and answering phones. However I would recommend having shorter nails for food service , nails looked too close to my food during drop off. The popcorn shrimp and nuggets are frozen then fried perfect for kids , not adult taste buds . The smothered pork chops were tooo tough to eat to, unable to even cut with the steak knife provided, and difficult to chew and swallow , but the gravy and onions were good (I mixed that with my mac and cheese ohh good ) . The mac & cheese and sweet potatoes were good. The corn bread, sweet tea and butterfly shrimp were amazing. The cabbage was very mushy, was able to eat some with hot sauce. The seating was comfortable And the restaurant and restroom is clean. The scent of the soap in the restroom was amazing. I would come back but only for the corn muffins.

My wife and I were on our way to our place in Myrtle Beach and were driving down Highway 13 toward…read morethe Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. It was lunchtime, and we passed the Sage Diner, which was packed, so we turned around and decided to stop in. This is not a fancy place, and it seemed like about 99% of the customers were locals. The hostess greeted us and seated us in a booth. Shortly after, a gentleman came over to take our drink order. We both ordered tea. I tried mine and didn't care for it -- it tasted like fountain tea -- so I switched to a soda. For lunch, my wife ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes, which came with a cup of soup. She chose the bean soup. I ordered the prime rib sandwich, which also came with fries and a cup of soup; I chose the cream of crab. When the food arrived, it looked pretty good at first. My wife liked her soup, but the meatloaf was extremely dry and had a strange seasoning to it. The mashed potatoes were real, with large chunks of potato in them. My prime rib sandwich special was overcooked and came with cheese. I was expecting thinly sliced, shaved prime rib, but instead the meat was cut very thick -- about a quarter inch -- and was tough. The cream of crab soup was disappointing. The first thing you notice is a heavy spoonful of Old Bay on top. When I dug in, there was barely any crab -- just a few chopped particles, which didn't feel acceptable for cream of crab. I ended up eating the prime rib plain with some BBQ sauce just to get through it. Overall, we don't think we'll be returning. There were a few other places we passed farther down the road that likely would have been a better choice.

Blatant racist mocking by staff - unacceptable experience…read more I'm posting this after taking time to process what happened. In the moment, my priority was de-escalating and calming my father. I'm now documenting this clearly. Friday, April 24, ~1:15-1:25 PM My father ordered an iced vanilla latte and food at the kiosk. When our order was called, an employee said "we are out of vanilla" with no explanation. When I asked what options were available, she rolled her eyes, gave a dismissive response, and walked away. I asked for a refund. A second employee then stepped in and handled things professionally, explaining alternatives. I appreciate her. However, another employee approached us and repeatedly mocked us, saying: "Chong chong chong, are you guys fighting, what are you saying?" I asked what she meant, and she continued. My father, who is not fluent in English, was clearly uncomfortable and had to raise his voice to tell her to stop. This was unprovoked and unacceptable. For identification: the employee had a name tattoo on the inside of her right wrist (starting with "T," possibly "Tammi"). I expect management to take this seriously and address it. No customer should be treated this way.
