Subway at Manchester Arndale is well-deserving of an upgrade especially considering since my last review for this branch back in December 2014, they have improved and now offer gluten-free bread.
The gluten-free bread is individually wrapped to avoid contamination, the staff are normally happy to do what they can to minimise cross-contamination including changing gloves, there is a really friendly Sandwich Artist here who has begin to recognise me and remember my order, which is great as this really good customer service experience is rare with a chain especially a fast-food chain.
My regular order of a gluten-free tuna ham and cheese, with red onion, lettuce, sweetcorn and red onion normally comes to £5.49, this is a little expensive but considering this is one of the only gluten-free sandwich options widely available (and the very generous loyalty scheme at Subway), it is made much more affordable. I do think an option to choose X amount of fillings for a certain price would be a good idea though as I always have to pay £1.20 extra for tuna AND ham and then £0.50 extra for gluten-free bread (I even have to pay this when redeeming a "free sub!)
It is pretty clean and even during lockdown, where it is much less busy they do seem to be changing the fillings regularly to ensure freshness.
For a mall fast-food chain, this Subway has impressed me and I really hope they can continue these standards when they begin to get much busier when Lockdown 2.0 ends
