My family needed a bite suitable for small children last night before the water park opened. We found ourselves at Subway. The service, the kindness, care they took with us and with an other customers I witnessed was exceeded our expectations. The two counter persons were exceptional! We had such a great time in a Subway because of their dedication to their customers, many who they seemed to know but treated us no different. They went above and beyond and we all had such a fun time. Thank you so much for such an unexpected wonderful time and providing the meal which met our expectations within such a warm environment. This is the second time I've come to this location and had rude service, but today was worse. We walked in and I didn't get to look at the menu or say hi before the girl stared at me bluntly and said "what do you want.?" Not even just a hello I felt uncomfortable ordering like she didn't want me there. Mind you no one was in the store so it wasn't busy at all, and it wasn't near closing or anything. She seemed to have attitude making it even though I said nothing but hi, and my order. I try not to write reviews like this unless it's really bad and I am paying for a simple service and food and should not feel uncomfortable doing so, especially since I was polite!! I wanted to give a high five, shout out, thumbs up to our local Subway. Especially because of the excellent customer service from Amanda. How is someone that friendly so early in the morning?! From her happy greeting as we walked through the door all the way through the preparation of our sandwiches. We even learned a new technique in slicing avocados. The shop was also spotless which is much appreciated. I'm not sure who chooses the music but great uplifting choice for early morning. Today's Playlist was country. Much better than the awful droning formula music so many businesses play. OK back to Amanda. Went to this subway tonight and they messed up my whole order. Also bacon was not pre cooked. It looked like they opened a package and tossed it in the bread. I am always on the hunt for a really good Subway. The ubiquitous chain is everywhere, but in spite of being "fresh" they can often disappoint just as readily as a mcdonalds can. Still, being a vegetarian, there are few enough cheap and easy sub shops that really have the variety of veggies and condiments to make a visit worth my while, so when I just need to have a sandwich , subway is my go to place. I keep mental notes on all my local stores. If they have good service, good bread, wilted lettuce, brown avocados, all are noted. That being said, this shop is one of the better ones that I've found in the la Quinta/Indio area, and I've visited pretty much all of them. Too bad it's so far down Washington! Not convenient enough to be a frequent haunt for me, sadly. read more

I have only lived in La Quinta for a year but one day as I was searching for hours at this location, I came across a page full of crappy reviews and wondered if the people on here were local or just snobby snowbirds... I have came to this location all but once for subs in the area. So a total of maybe 10 times in the last year. Not once have I walked in and not heard "Hello, welcome to Subway" by people who I truly felt were nice. My subs have always been as perfect as a sub sandwich from Subway could be. I love the fresh avocado (we don't have that in the midwest where I am from). The place is clean, staff is always kind. I've never asked for something they ran out of. Also I noticed a comment regarding bacon. I also see a pic posted. This is typical Subway bacon. I've never seen it look like your average upscale restaurant's bacon. You can't rate an entire store based on the bacon. Seriously. To the employees, you girls (and guys? I've never seen any in a while) you're doing an awesome job! We always get great service at this Subway, which we have visited quite a bit since we just moved nearby. Subway has a good system where there is a choice of on-site baked bread choices and order-whatcha-want-sandwich assembly line. Thank goodness for Subway, they offer affordable and tasty sandwich options. The breakfast flatbread sandwiches (egg whites and choice of toppings) are surprisingly delicious. We were shocked they open so early (7am). The Subway team members don't roll their eyes when I look for a crumpled up coupon buried in my wallet (don't judge, Subway has some good coupons). We like to get a Subway sandwich and sheepishly bring over to Starbucks close by to nosh on with our iced lattes. Disgusting. Despite how slow it was, their line was filthy. It took the gentleman a very long time to assemble the order in front of me, and repeatedly asked the woman what ingredients went where, instead of completing one item at a time. During my time here, a small child coughed on EVERYTHING. Nobody did anything about it, and the staff made no effort to sanitize the area upon their departure. RUDE! Call it being naive on my part, but really, as a new dog owner I had NO CLUE dogs were not allowed in restaurants. On 11/29/12, my 9-year-old daughter and I walked into this Subway with our brand new 12-week-old Teacup Chihuahua, I directed her to sit at one of the tables while I ordered. I was about to pay for my order when I heard commotion behind me, a Subway employee was ordering my daughter to leave, another one was holding the door open and pointing at her while finger motioning to her to go outside. I addressed the woman by the door and asked what was wrong, she said dogs were not allowed to be in the restaurant and that the dog and my daughter had to leave. It was obvious I was about to pay and so I told her, "Let me finish paying for this and we will leave, but I will not let my daughter stand outside alone." At this point, she then pointed to the "Refuse Service" sign and said, "We'll then I refuse you service." We left and I called the franchise owner Thad Kirk, who basically chastised me for not knowing dogs were not allowed in restaurants, stating, "Really have you ever seen a dog in a restaurant?" He also asked, "Who gave you this number?" He said that if I called corporate all they would do was direct the complaint back to him. Like I said, I'm a new dog owner and I REALLY did not know! But, what I do know is how not to treat people and neither of these two women nor the franchise owner, Thad Kirk, knows anything about customer service! I would have appreciated if at least one of these two women would have come up to me discreetly and pointed out my faux pas and explained the HS code. But, this wasn't done. It was easier for them to act like drill sergeants towards a 9-year-old and a puppy than to be nice. My daughter loves Subway; we have been long time customers of this Subway since it's the only one in the LQ Cove, up until today. My daughter had achieved a high mark at school and Subway was going to be her chosen treat. But, thanks to these two rude women (one of them named Lorraine) and an uncaring franchise owner, Thad Kirk, our meal and day was ruined. I am a reasonable, caring, intelligent and understanding person and citizen. All it would have taken to salvage this situation would have been a little professionalism on their part. Unfortunately that wasn't the case and I am glad Yelp provides a soap box for me to voice my opinion. I have frequented this establishment on numerous occasions to see what appears to be a pattern of behavior. The workers show an unwillingness to be flexible and help the customer. One worker stated I am the "GM." Who cares about your title, just help people. Don't be so rigid. Just take care of the customer. I observed this and another employee argue with a another customer in front of me in line over fifty cents as it pertained to a coupon. This held me up for roughly 7-10 minutes. Again, just take care of the customer and don't be so rigid. This location does not take American Express because they stated they do not want to pay the merchant fees. 7/11 and most other merchants take American Express. They lose more money in employees standing around and arguing with customers than what they pay in credit card fees or food by-product. read more
