I was in town for work and immediately walking in it was clean and I immediately received the best service from Rick. He greeted me as I walked in, he asked how my day was going and while making my foot long he would ask if it was good after toasting it or putting any veggies. Walked in on a sunny day sounds like a great lunch, right? Wrong. The man that was there must have either been having a terrible day or he hates his job. From slamming the sandwhich & huffing & puffing at each ingredient added to the sandwhich to refusing to give the sauce on the sandwhich on the side instead of on the sandwhich.. Pedro (if that's his real name) really needs to learn customer service or even just basics of interacting with people. I go here quite often. Shout out to Ken for a great job every time. I like their veggie patty and their oven roasted chicken. The sauces are fantastic especially the chipotle southwest and the creamy sriracha. You can customize your sub every which way. Customer service is everything at Subway. Unfortunately, at this particular location, you will only find passive-aggressive farces instead. Of all the Subway's in the Totem Lake area, this one features the bar-none worst bread. That's a huge strike one. Like, c'mon - making bread in one of the most important tasks for Subway employees, and management in particular. Too bad they're lazy and inconsiderate. I've repeatedly had staff get abusive when I ordered sandwiches they flat-out felt compelled to complain about making. For instance, whining about making me a blt without lettuce. If I decide against lettuce on my purchase, get off my back. Know your role. I've also been overcharged multiple times for reasons that lie within the management's narcissism. I've seriously been overcharged for not getting vegetables on my sandwich. Who even gets upset about how you like your sandwich? This Subway does! I won't be back to this location. read more

My hat's off to the guys who work here... on moving day, I went in with an eight sub, complicated order. All three guys working that day got busting on my sandwiches. They were friendly, fast, and they got everything exactly right. During our conversation, they found out that I was moving, and they said, oh, moving is hell, and gave me a cookie to go with each sub (we'd already done meal deals, but I got chips to go with each one, so they gave me essentially almost $3 worth of cookies). Bread was soft. The sandwich artist threw away a few of the breads that were too stiff. Quickly made sandwich as they had multiple people working. One on bread, meat and cheese. One on veggies and sauce. One for checkout. A little weird getting in and out of the parking lot but manageable. The employees are nice, but I've never seen a Subway with such a limited selection of crappy cheese ever. 2 cheddars, a jack and American. That's it. That aside though, the veg and bread here is always fresh, and one day when I was physically ill from not eating, they gave my husband double meat for my sandwich at no extra cost. Can't really beat that type of caring. If they get some swiss or provolone cheese, I'll gladly put them at a 5 though, which says a lot because usually Subway isn't even that good. read more

"Where everybody knows your name" comes to mind... I have been going to this subway for 15 years and have to say, these guys give you the most personalized service because they care! The owner is almost ALWAYS there... the franchise is run by brothers and nephews, and since it's a family business they treat their patrons like family! Each and every person that enters is greeted with a smile, and they make an effort to have a conversation and make connections so you feel important!!! They are the perfect lunch break in your day because during your crazy hectic work, the smiles you are greeted with is the right amount of fuel you need to finish your day! My office has moved so I don't go there as often as I want to, so the other day I walked in after almost a year and they smiled at me, they knew my sandwich-- I'm their tuna girl! Within a mini-mart is this Subway, sounds like a great idea, until you get up to the counter and see flies all around the vegetables and meat. And I'm not talking like one fly. My favorite subway in the area, mainly because the staff are really friendly and awesome.

I've had very few truly embarrassing moments in public but a few weeks ago I was at this subway and found myself with a declined card, horribly embarrassing as I had forgotten that I still had not deposited my paycheck and here I was holding up the line with no money to pay for my food, the employees were very considerate though and patient with me as I ran out to my car to scavenge for coins and ended up still just over a dollar short. The employee at the register was kind enough to ring up my order as a different sandwich to make it affordable for me as a one time courtesy and still was able to help keep my embarrassment to a minimum. Usually the big restaurant chains try to have equal quality across the board. But being run by people, some are just better than others. I am not exaggerating when I say that in Totem Lake is the best Subway I've ever been to. The people owning/operating it are the ones that makes it so special. They keep their food the freshest possible (we all had a few bad experiences in some Subways with their soggy, past prime ingredients, well never at this one). They are really nice, and they always accommodate special requests that would routinely be turned down at other Subways. They just seems to care a lot about their costumers, and that makes a big difference. One of the great lunch places around Totem Lake. read more
