3.5 / 5 based on prices, ease of ordering, and customer service. I don't know why subway doesn't spark the same about of joy and creativity in me compared to a build your own place like Blaze. Their menu and ordering style has somehow gotten more confusing. It was my first time back in a while and I wanted to try something other than my go-to meatball marinara. There was no one in line aside from my friend and I were trying to decide on what to order. We were in front looking at all the deli meats, cheeses, veggies, etc, and we were obviously confused as well as indecisive. The person that was going to be making our sandwich just stood there silently waiting for us to figure out what we wanted. I'm not sure if that's their protocol but if it's not, I know that it was late at night but since the employee looked bugged by us not knowing what to order, they should have offered suggestions or tried to help us in order to get us moving. Another customer had walked in at that point and we still hadn't chosen our meat. I think I'll stick with my meatball marinara so I can avoid this. read more

This is Subway. And I can say that it is very similar to just about every Subway I've been to. Subway is a place you go to for a standard fast food sandwich. You can get turkey, ham, roast beef, salami, tuna, and other choices in combination with each other. It's a good restaurant if you're hungry and know what to expect. And most people know what to expect because there seems to always be a Subway around the corner in every town, city, and village in America. So it is what it is. The food doesn't stand out and blow you away, but people can generally find something that they can enjoy eating on the menu. Today I tried one of their new menu items. And when I say new, I just mean that they found a way to use ingredients that they had before in a new way. Today I had the Flatizza. Yup, it's exactly what it sounds like... it's their flatbread used as a crust for a pizza-like item. When you order it, they just take some of their flat bread, spread tomato sauce on it, place toppings on it, and cover it with grated cheese. A little time in their oven and out pops a Flatizza. You can have your choice of pepperoni, spicy Italian, and plain cheese. Today there was a special going on where you could get two Flatizzas for under $6, so I tried the spicy Italian and the pepperoni. They both practically tasted the same. I actually couldn't tell which one I was eating as I ate. The Flatizza tastes like each ingredient that you see on it. I mean, it's ok, but if you're craving pizza, this isn't a great cheap solution for you in my opinion. The problem comes with the flatbread 'crust'. It's just way too soft. If it were crunchier or more crisp, that would have made a huge difference. But as they are, I would definitely say it is sub par. If you're going to go to Subway, I'd stick to the sandwich or sandwiches you know (and love). The new Flatizzas can definitely be skipped over as other places have much better pizza offerings than this. read more

This is the worst sandwich place ever!!!! My son and his friends ordered online and received the order confirmation. But when they arrived at the store, the door was closed at the time of 8:40 pm. The store hours clearly says 9am-9pm and they have received confirmation via email. There was a female worker who was sweeping the floor and the door was locked, My son and his friends were outside and tried to explain the situation, but this worker told them the store closed at 8pm already. Then she refused to communicate with them further! This is ridiculous! The store hours clearly shown on the outside of the store and their orders were confirmed. How could this lazy worker do something like that?? Isn't there no store rule or policy that she should follow? They already paid for their food online, but now they were rejected by this women!!!!! To all Davis residents and UC Davis students: never ever order from this subway. This kind of restaurant needs to go! Really, really great location. I mean, if you're a freshman living in segundo north, Subway is just a hop, skip, and jump away. I mean, don't bother busting out your bike becuase unlocking and locking your bike will make the trip longer. This Subway is never busy. I mean, there can be a wait, but it won't take that long. The staff is super nice and they'll always be sure to ask you what you want on your sandwich. Sandwiches are not that expensive and they are so much healthier than the crap at the DC. This is in a freakishly convenient location for me, so I'm a fan, especially of the $5-foot-long deal. It feeds me for one meal. There are few places in Davis where I can have a filling dinner for a little over 5 bucks (the only cheaper place I can think of is In N Out, but that's rather far from where i live). Since I'm a creature of habit, I suppose all I will be reviewing is the $5-foot-long of oven roasted chicken on honey oat bread with lettuce, tomatoes, green peppers, a couple red onions, salt, pepper and the sweet onion teriyaki sauce. No cheese, and toasted. It's pretty hard to mess this up, so I'm good to go. I do wish they were a little more generous with the toppings though. :\ This is my go-to meal when I am slaving over classes and/or midterms and finals (which, in the quarter system, never ends once it's 2 weeks into the quarter), or about to go to a concert (it's cheap, fast, convenient). read more

Another subway location. This is the one I've frequented the most over the years and found it to be consistently what it needs to be. You'll get your standard sub made the way you want so I have no complaints there. The staff is always different so I can't comment on recent service, but I thought it was decent for the few years I came here. I come here a lot for a cheap meal when I'm sick of the dining hall food. Overall it's great, however I came around 9pm on a Saturday and was surprised to hear that they only had flatbread. For my 21 years of living so far, I can't believe I have NEVER had a Subway sandwich until now! I never believed why everyone keeps telling me how Subway is so good and why it's good but I do now. After I saw commercials for the $5 foot long subs, I knew I had to check it out. Finally I got the chance when my BF suggested Subway for lunch. I was actually kinda excited. Like how little kids are excited to get ice cream, I was excited to try Subway. There were plenty of options on the menu. What caught my eyes was the chicken and bacon ranch on an Italian Herb and Cheese bread. BF got the sweet onion chicken and prime rib sub. For $5, the foot long sub was my lunch AND dinner! This Subway had a decent enough location, but wow, were they were super cheap when it came to toppings. I am not sure if it was management's decision or if it was just their sandwich makers, but I would get some stale bread with barely any veggies inside. When I ask for olives, I want more than three. When I ask for bell peppers, please put more than 2 little slivers. But yeah, thanks for all the damn lettuce! If you asked for more of any type of veggie, they would charge you extra. It was really annoying. In addition, the slices of meat and cheese would be super small. At times, I received way less than the 3 meat and 2 cheese pieces you usually get on a 6-inch sub. This is one of the few times in my life where I actually REGRET not reacting and throwing a total bitch fit for the crappy service I received. I stopped by one morning, looking to order a sandwich for lunch later. The older lady that was helping us didn't greet us.. didn't smile.. and just basically took our order. I didn't really care - this is Subway, I really don't expect 5-star service here. The true wickedness of this lady came out when I asked that she wrap my footlong in halves. This is when the old lady began to cop an attitude. She began to act ALLLLLL annoyed, like her life was THAT much more miserable because a customer reasonably requested that she wrap a sandwich in halves (I do it ALL the time). She basically rang me up and then tossed my credit card back at me. Whatever, I thought, no bigs, it's early. However, when my bf requested napkins (since she didn't put any into the bag), she seriously threw ONE napkin at my boyfriend, with an obviously agitated expression on her face. I was SHOCKED, for real, did she just do that?! My bf asked for more. Her response was to slam ONE more napkin down and then walk to the back in a huff. No one is expecting the people who work at Subway to plaster exaggerated smiles on their faces or engage in overly-sweet chit chat. But her glaring attitude and rudeness was totally unwarranted, especially since (1) all my requests were made politely and (2) were normal everyday-type requests that I am sure anyone who works at Subway hears. I walk in after a workout really needing to use the restroom after a long workout. This was the way my experience began at this subway. "bathrooms are for costumers only", says the automatically rude woman working there. "That is fine I have an order for my wife and myself, do you mind if I use the restroom first and then I will order?" I question very nicely. " we only do breakfast sandwiches until 11" the wonderful woman says to me, "I can do an egg white sandwhich" "So I can buy an egg white sandwhich, can I just add ham for extra charge?" I ask politely "No! breakfast sandwhiches stop at 11" said annoyed as if I am taking up her time. "Can I buy one egg white sandwhich and one Ham sandwhich?" I question. "Yes" she says still annoyed. "So they have eggwhite and ham and they can be sold separately in samdwhihes but together you cannot sell that to me because it is after 11. " at this point i am feeling a bit short. "Yes", again a one word answer. "Okay then, do you have another healthy option that I could purchase instead?" The staff either mumble to me, requiring endless what-was-thats from me, or; mumble to each other in one of the many languages I do not speak, leaving me to feel like Pony Boy in The Outsiders. But if that all sounds grand to you, by all means grab your keys and head on down. My first time there (maybe two years ago), the two guys behind the counter acted as if they were surprised and offended they had to *exasperated sigh* make sandwiches AND *rolls eyes* have to take my money for the horrible experience I just had. I come here pretty often for lunch since it's close to where I work and it's cheap. Purchasing food at Scrubs can get expensive. Today, it's Friday so no meat for me. I ordered a veggie delight and the lady making my sandwich was not very understanding with the vegetables. All the subway commercials always say make the sandwich the way you like it, as much veggies as you want. All my sandwich includes is veggies and some cheese and it still cost the same as a sandwich that contains meat. There not anymore cheese than a sandwich with meat. This place straight sucks. I usually go to the Subway near my place but I was already in this area so I decided to stop by and grab a sandwich. I came in thinking I'll get the same sandwich I'll normally get. But nooooo, I got a huge MESS instead. The worker was SO RUDE. What can I say. It's Subway. In Davis. I come here for the daily deals (now $3.50 for a 6 inch sandwich or $6 for a footlong). For fresh veggies and meat wrapped up in warm toasted bread, it's a great deal for somebody who wants to eat healthier and is on a budget (my quick, healthy, & affordable meal alternatives are the $3.99 Trader Joe's wraps and salads just down the block). Normally, I add avocados to give my sandwich a little more kick. Sadly, they recently stopped offering fresh sliced avocados. I've tried asking. They have pre-made guacamole now, which isn't bad either. But boy do I miss those fresh sliced avocados. It's the same feeling as craving a fresh apple only to have apple sauce instead. Out of all the 6-inch Subway sandwiches I've gotten this past year and a half, today's 6-inch was definitely more like 5 inches. It was still delicious, but without that extra inch, I was only 83.33% full. Next time I'll bring a measuring tape to show them (I'm kidding). I attempt to be as patient as I can to her so she understood that I'm not rushing her but instead she was rushing me. Then I asked for tomatoes and onions and he plops it right on. At this moment, he was so busy talking to the short, chubby guy and the lady that he didnt hear me ask for cucumbers. I had to ask 3 times. I am a soft spoken person and I dont raise my voice unless I have to. By the third time, I was pissed. I knew at that moment that the fool was talking about me and the whole lettuce ordeal to his coworkers. RIght before he plopped my cucumbers on the sandwich, he had the audacity to ask me if I was the one who asked for more lettuce. NO SHIT SHERLOCK. They have a good little laugh about it. Holy goodness. I've been to some terrible Subways where their customer service was not exactly up-to-par, but this one just takes the cake. Since I have faith in humanity, I hope that not all of their workers are like this, but after reading the reviews, who knows anymore. My experience here started with me asking for the oven roasted chicken breast and the worker put the chicken on the two loaves. I've been to Subway continuously for almost a decade now, so I know how the process works. He didn't ask me if I wanted to toast my sandwich, which was great because I didn't want it toasted anyways. He then proceeded to put my sandwich in the oven. I had to loudly interject to say that I didn't want it toasted to which he replied, "but the chicken is cold." As if I didn't know that already! He acted as if it was imperative that my sandwich be toasted and I had to just give up and tell him to just microwave the chicken. He gave me a look like I had committed some sort of sin and shoved my sandwich to the other guy. The other guy was pretty much the same as the other. He was obviously just giving me a pinch of each of the veggies. Before this, I like my sauces on the bread, so before he put on the veggies, I asked for ranch to which he replied, "what veggies?" I repeated myself and he decided that I said lettuce, so he started putting lettuce on my sandwich. I am not a quiet person because I understand some people have a hard time hearing, so I enunciate myself whenever I order, but this was ridiculous. Then I asked for extra veggies which didn't cost me extra (luckily; I feel like they will one day charge for this) but he still just gave me another pinch. Literally, he took one ring of a green onion and crumpled it on my sandwich. Really? Please, I wouldn't be mad if there was a screen blocking my view from the sandwich and you were doing that, but this screen is clear. I can see exactly what you're doing and you're doing it wrong. Finally, I asked him for mayo and mustard, but only a small amount, "just a small line," I specifically said. He proceeded to drown my sandwich in mustard. It wasn't just a line, it looked like one of their marinara sandwiches but with mustard. I almost canceled my order in my fuming rage, but I like having the option of eating Subway so close to campus, so I didn't throw the sandwich away in their faces, but one of these days, I will definitely have to voice my opinions. Both workers could not make eye contact with me while asking for my order, which left me infuriated. They looked outside the window, so I looked too, and there was nothing going on, so I don't know if their manners were just that bad or if they just unable to look in other people's eyes. I've only had one other terrible experience at a Subway, where they decided to hire an eighty year-old lady to make my sandwich, but this one definitely takes the cake. I don't know if I'll continue to buy here, but if I do, I'll definitely ask for a different worker until I find one with manners and competent enough to make a sandwich that they, themselves, would eat. read more

But why would you just think Subway is all same so I will go any Subway, because you are paying same price and you might get low service than what you pay. Bottom line, the employer and employee will make your day sad after you make an order. At least employer needs to care about his business but he don't give a shit, so he does do take your order so he puts veggies as you wish but he puts veggies so little that just looking at it makes you not wanting to eat anymore. I am more concerned about the location of this Subway than anything. Having to drive through a lube and oil change shop to awkward parking spots for starters. The location's outdoor dining is right next mile high dry weeds in a long trench. Hope no one accidentally throws a cigarette in there. Not inviting at all Hard to easily turn to the junky street it is on from Russell. Other businesses block it somewhat. The employees are being shortchanged by this junk surrounded location.
