I bought a tonneau cover for my new truck in 2007 at Suburban Toppers. I called them and said I had a hinge problem on my topper before I could tell him what I had he asked if it was a 2007. He said bring it so they could look at it. I drove into the parking lot and showed it to a nice gentleman. He went and got the proper tool and it was fixed in 10 minutes or less. He didn't charge me for the quick repair. I have always gotten great service here for a great product. read more

I have purchased 3 toppers here. 1996 Tacoma First time they let me borrow one while mine came in so my dogs could ride in my pickup safely. New one arrived and color didn't match perfectly according to owner of business. He sent topper back and had ATC repaint it again at no cost. 2011 Silverado ARE topper . Outstanding quality. Built a topper on the ARE Website and chose suburban toppers to give me a quote and get me fitted. Whole process from building it on the website and having it installed was about a month. Chris, the owner, was great to speak with and clearly knows everything there is to know about this business. These guys did me right! I found a topper on craigslist that they were offering. It was almost the perfect topper for me but was missing a couple of features that I really wanted. I wanted a sliding front window and interior lighting. I emailed them and asked them if they would take a less than what they had it listed for since it didn't have the features I wanted. Very happy with my experience with ST. I had a window broken on my topper, called them and they immediately got it on order, told me when to expect it to show up and scheduled an appointment based on that timeframe. The sales process was fine, of course. ARE toppers are mediocre at best. The paint application is not great. I ordered my topper with side windoors. The passenger side windoor was not aligned properly and it would not open smoothly. It required a lot of force to get open and my wife could not even pull it open. Suburban Toppers replaced the window 3 times. The first two replacements were still bad and there was a lot of debris from the install left in the bed. The third windoor still catches but will now open. However during the install the paint on the left rear fender of the truck was chipped, scratched, and scuffed in multiple places. This windoor was also not placed correctly in the fiberglass cutout leaving a gap. Basically a hole in the topper. No one took any accountability to check that the work was done correctly. Waste of money and time. If you get the perfect topper all will be fine but if you have any issues you'll be in trouble. read more

This review is long time in coming. Brought my Tacoma to Suburban Toppers a few years ago to get the lock bar replaced. They did a good job replacing it and explained to me what they were doing along the way. In the process of replacing the bar, they noticed my topper brake light was not working. They rewired it for no additional charge. I had no idea it was not working. Added bonus. Fast forward to present time, I called a few weeks ago and talked to Chris about installing a new topper on my Tundra. Chris was very friendly and patient with me. There are tons of topper options and combinations. Vented windows, side windows that open, single lock, double lock, headliner, cab-side sliding window, cab-side folding window, etc. It goes on and on. Chris talked with me for about 20 mins. answering all my questions. Great customer service, for sure. I have an appointment this weekend to get the new topper put on my Tundra. (You were a great truck and served me well, Tacoma. 9 years, 127,000 miles.) We'll see how it goes, but if my first experience was any indication, I'm sure it will be a fine. I wanted to buy my first topper and Dan was really helpful steering me in the right direction, I probably called and bothered him about five times during the process and he was always happy to help and gave great advice for what I wanted to do with the topper. I wanted a tall topper for my short bed Nissan Frontier (short as in 5'), which is not something you see too often. I did a lot of price shopping and Suburban Toppers did a great job in getting me the best deal. They also have a very friendly and personable staff that helped me customize my topper with a ski rack and reinforced mesh on the inside windows. Suburban Toppers will also remove the top and store it for you if you decide you need to use the bed of your truck for something else. I can't believe how great these guys were for us! We're traveling from Texas, through Colorado, visiting friends. After a museum and lunch decided we didn't like having our traveling accessories exposed in the truck bed and stopped by. Leaving town the next day posed a problem getting a bed cover but Nate thought out of the box and two hours later we're headed to dinner with a new BakFlip folding Tonneau cover. So first off, I want to start with the only positive. I live in Colorado Springs and called Suburban Toppers in Denver because of all the great reviews. I called and spoke with Dan, who was super nice, ordered my topper and was all set. On the day of the appointment, my spouse and I got to Suburban Toppers and a man came out. Didn't introduce himself and overall looked put off. I don't know if that's his regular demeanor or not, but it wasn't what I expected due the reviews and my previous phone conversation with Dan. Told the man that we had an appointment. He took the keys and we had to ask if we could wait inside and how long it would take. I don't know if the man was rude, I don't even know if rude is the right word, or just not interested, because we were women or what. We did notice during our wait that when male customers came in, and even interacting with men outside on the times we stepped out, the man seemed to be more personable with them. It was just really unpleasant. So the topper gets put on and another man goes over what's been done. He talked so fast that it was hard to catch everything he was saying. Pretty much here's your topper, we are busy, get out. Topper is on, ARE, because they are supposed to be the best. It wasn't the quality we expected, but it's on and done so we head home. We get home and the back window won't close. We spend some time loosing the clamps and getting it realigned. In the process we notice that the inside of the topper just looks, cheap. Mind you this is a $2600 topper. Again, it's on so that's that. We also notice a knick that wasn't there in the left hand bottom corner of the truck rail. I know there's nothing we can do about it. Overall we are just really disappointed. We drove almost an hour and a half to a place that is supposed to be one of the best and we should have just went to local place that didn't have the best reviews. If we were going to get bad service anyway, we could have saved the drive. I don't like to post bad reviews and I've been sitting on this a while. It's a customer driven world and for a place that even has a sign inside their shop saying how everything is all about the customer, they don't show it. And if it was because we were women in a 'good ole boy' shop, then shame on you all. read more

These guys were exceptional. Had to store my flip-pac for a few weeks and couldn't have hoped for a better experience. They were careful, both for the car and with the topper, and even cleaned the back windows quickly before putting it back on. Despite not being open weekends they were phenomenally accommodating for timing. I wasn't able to find a mutually available time the first week when scheduling to put it back on and they very understandingly didn't charge for it. They were always available and helpful over the phone and in person. I even went to change the bed seal before putting the topper back on and Nate(?) kindly offered to do it. He did (unsurprisingly) a phenomenal job. I had the pleasure of interacting with a few people both visits and they were all friendly, professional and fantastic at their jobs. If doing anything with my topper in the future I will absolutely look forward to working with them. read more

There are very few business that do things as well as Suburban Toppers does. I've been a client for about 5 years when i initially got a topper for my toyota tacoma. The whole crew over there is always helpful, even if you have a question they won't make any money off of. My topper window was broken by a carwash and their ability to fit me in quickly, and get it repaired was seamless. Even when busy, they found a way. I called a few days ago to ask for advice on selling my topper. Dan, who has been incredible the entire five years i've known him and still remember buying my topper through him - super easy and non sleezy to deal with. He told me they could buy the topper back, but said based on my model of my topper and the matblack color, I would fetch a better price on craigslist. He was right, sold it the first day i put it up and because of Dans advice i made a grand more than i would have. Literally, $1,000. I raved to the guy i sold the topper to and I know I'll be back for when I set up my new rig! read more

It has taken me too long to write this review. The good folks at Suburban Toppers added a matching topper to my Toyota Tundra about 14 months ago. I was hesitant to invest much money in an 11 year old truck, but we live in the mountains. When we moved to a place that did not have covered parking, I quickly tired of shoveling snow out of the truck bed. I was able to compare options and place an order by phone. When the topper arrived at the shop, we made an installation appointment. The installation was done on time and professionally. In fact, we left the shop and drove to Coors Field to catch a Rockies game. After more than a year, my only regret is that I wasn't a customer sooner. The color match is perfect. About every 6 months, I take a ratchet and tighten the installation clamps. The topper keeps the truck bed bone dry in heavy snow and rain. We have driven the truck over some pretty gnarly 4WD roads and passes without any issues. Depending on the season, I can keep our camping equipment or ski gear in the bed and it remains secure.. Best of all, no shoveling out the bed! I told the salesman that I wanted a quality product, but did not need all the bells and whistles that I might put on a new truck. They gave me several options and there was no pressure to buy more than I needed. I now have a much more useful and valuable vehicle. The next truck gets a topper from these guys on day 1. read more

I've spent a lot of time thinking about if I should write this review. It has nothing to do with bad service or quality. I stopped in to ask some questions one Saturday and I stood there for about 5 minutes before anyone asked me if they could help me. They had two people there and only 1 of the two was a salesman. There were 3 guys there including myself wanting to get help with purchasing a new topper. I left because there were 2 in front of me and I had no idea how long I would be waiting but I knew I certainly would be taking a lot of the 1 salesman's time. My question is this: Why (on a Saturday of all days when people are usually shopping for this sort of thing) does a business like this only have 1 salesman on duty? I thought that was pretty stupid so I left and I will take my business somewhere that I feel is more competent. read more

I was hoping to add to their great reviews, but due to a number of issues, I am unable to give more than 2 stars. I have owned several different brands of bed caps and I found the ARE was the best quality of them all. I searched for an ARE dealer and found Suburban Toppers was the closest. The price was competitive and the cap arrived on schedule. The installation went well until I got home and noticed that about 4 ft of wire was hanging down underneath my truck. Maybe that was a good thing because when I went under to find out what was going on I saw that the wire loom was just draped across the underside and a part of it was resting and therefore melting on the muffler. After I tied things up properly I went back to have them look at it. They said that the wire hanging down was just an extra wire that came in the loom. At this point I also asked them to replace the rear window because there was a defect in the glass. They ordered a new one which was fortunate because shortly before I took it it back in to be replaced I went through a car wash and got a bunch of water in the bed. I looked closer and found there was a large gap between the glass and the seal at the rear window. It seems that the quality of the ARE caps is not what it used to be and the installation could have been done better. read more

Very nice people when you order the topper but when comes time to install, totally different. I got a great A.R.E. topper. Very happy with the topper. However, when suburban installed the topper, it took them about an hour and a half. They told me that it took longer than expected because of a bad relay switch in the topper. After I got home, I looked at their wiring and found that they had butchered the tail gate wiring when hooking up the remote unlock / lock feature. First they tried to wire to the removable tailgate harness, then redid the wiring properly to the main wire harness at rear of truck. Then I found that they had sliced the outer cover on several wires in the cab wiring harness were they spliced in. These wires they sliced were just from carelessness and weren't even wires they were using. I called to complain and they couldn't have cared less. Told me to bring it back and they would look at it, like I would give them another shot at messing something else up. I would also note that the power wires they ran up front to the battery was a sloppy job and had wires loosely hanging under the truck and pinched in between suspension bumper on the bed. I would definitely not recommend this company. read more
