Everything went well. I'm 80 years old and I was a nervous wreck knowing that I had to have an operation. Dr Schwartz calmed me down. After talking to him, I felt I had nothing to worry about. On the day of operation of course I was worried, but he came in and talk to me and once again, I was calmed and assured everything would go well . The next day I called him about four or five times with different questions. Within an hour of my call, he called me back. I have never had a doctor respond so quickly and listen to what I had to say and tell me that I could call at any time. He said that was his job. I am so impressed with Dr Schwartz. I would recommend the suburban endocrinologists highly. And a scale of one to 10 they are 15 or 20. read more

These are GEM doctors. If you know the NorthShore health system and most hospitals a GEM award is hard to earn let alone earn at global office level but this office goes the extra mile to make sure high acuity patients are taken care of properly and protected from mistakes. My physician is a fully licensed ear nose and throat surgeon, most commonly I find myself at the office for my routine ear servicing, I produce a good amount of wax (think Shrek) the amount of wax he pulls out every 6 months is probably enough to make a very stanky candle. He is very thorough even for what is just a clean up appointment, he asks me for my recent medical history including any infection incidents. He goes the extra mile to provide a patient like me with anxiety disorder extreme levels of confidence by performing extra laboratory work to assure me that the prior infection is truly eradicated, this can be as simple as running an extra culture to running a culture array. It's a shame that other doctors don't do a culture array as soon as I get sick because the culture array tells all. Doing a throat culture is far different than sampling from the throat swab and labeling it as AIRWAY GRAM STAIN POSITIVE and pulling a second swab for AIRWAY GRAM STAIN NEGATIVE. In some cases he will even pull a second pair of swabs for Aerobic and Anerobic stains if an infection is active. He's a very flexible physician and will participate in collaborative care with patients who have education about their own conditions and the diagnostics that surround them. Many doctors will go ape crazy if you tell them what diagnostics you want done but doc Smyrniotis is not at all one of those elitist "I know what's best I'm the doctor I'll do what I want" types. He's the type who will take your request for any test or procedure and tell you the pros and cons and his vote whether it's appropriate or not and if it's not he will go to great lengths to explain why doing such a test or procedure isn't needed. We need more doctors like him and his team. The entire team follows this collaborative GEM care standard that I wish all doctors followed. In a lot of cases it's the patient who knows their body the best. The office is clean and well sized. There's plenty of waiting area to socially distance from other people and while masks aren't required office staff encourage them and disposable masks are available at the front desk. In back the office hosts a wide array of examination rooms making the office have a pretty good level of patient turnover offering short wait times for your appointment and potential flexibility for urgent care / emergency appointments same next day or same week. In some cases availability is limited but the physician can electronically send instructions/order to your selected urgent care center on how to perform diagnostics. This office and the physicians are the Cadillac's of Ear Nose and Throat centers. Extremely comfortable to be around and high performance. read more

I was hoping to receive a request from this office for a review, but I didn't. For a 9am appointment, we completed everything on line and still waited an hour ten to get into a treatment room. Then another ten min before doctor Ho came in. Had a biopsy 7 days ago and never received a call with results. I called and they said he'd call today .... Nothing. I also had a bad experience there with the front desk staff, four receptionists there, they couldn't care less about you, never made eye contact with the patients, one was chewing gum like a cow, one had no idea what to do. The doctor I saw also could care less about me and my feelings, she cleaned my ears out with what looked to be a knife, hurt me and never apologized. Stay away. I saw Dr. Clark initially for some sinus tests to rule out sinus cavity dysfunction. Totally acceptable and unremarkable experience. I went back 4 - 5 years later, again seeing Dr. Clark, for some dysfunction in my Eustachian tubes. We tried a number of things, and decided to put in ear tubes. Everything was fine up until my follow up appointment. When I showed up to said appointment, a different doctor came in. I explained that it felt like everyone was talking underwater and that it was really difficult to hear things. I had previous audio testing that was provided to this office, and they did another one to compare. The second doctor looks at the results and says "You do have some moderat.... I mean minor hearing loss. We'll have Dr. Clark call you next week." I have since had further audio testing, and have gone from perfect - above average hearing my entire life to measurable hearing loss in both ears. Minor and Moderate are not the same, and the test results the second doctor reviewed (when taken somewhere else) showed moderate hearing loss. The second Dr. had a horrible bedside manner, and tried to blow off the very real side effects I was experiencing. I never received a follow up call from that Dr. or Dr. Clark. Not in 4 years. I have since gone elsewhere, and seen other doctors. There is nothing that can be done about my hearing loss, and I understand that it was a risk before surgery. However, I do not accept being talked down to and lied to regarding the nature or severity of side effects from a procedure. I wouldn't go back here if you paid me, my health is far more important to me, as is having a treatment team that is open and honest in their communication with me. read more

I saw Dr Clark for an earache and vertigo. He did a hearing test, when compared to the test I had five years prior he said I had moderate hearing loss in my right ear. He sent me for an MRI and ENG. It took four days for his office to call with the MRI results. My primary care physician called me with the results of the MRI the following day of the test as she was copied. A week after the ENG I had still not had my results of the test. I had to call, after waiting six minutes for anyone to answer the phone I was told that the Dr would call me back. Two hours later I received a call from his nurse/assistant who told me I need to see a neurologist with no explanation. Dr Clark did not speak to me. Very disappointed. I would not recommend this practice to anyone. read more

My family has been coming to this doctors office for a few years and we have only ever experienced exceptional service. **directions- park near the building on the corner (i believe it's called A) you will need to enter through the parking garage, go through the A1 doors, hang right, go through the double doors to the elevators immediately right and take those to floor 7** I came here to look into my allergy problems and received very good care. The receptionist was kind and considerate, and I never waited more than 15-20 minutes for all of my appointments. When I received my nasal exam, Dr. Clark was very kind and calm, I never felt overwhelmed. I appreciated him answering any and all questions. My allergy panel with Mari was also great. She was East to talk to and very patient with any concerns I had. She explained the process well and I was well prepared for my follow up with the doctor. Overall I trust and respect the judgement of Dr Clark and his advisement was highly appreciated. read more

I have just not had the time lately to write reviews, and I legitimately had to stop what I was doing to leave a POSITIVE review for Dr. Ho. We were referred to this practice by our pediatrician. My son had to have his tonsils removed, adenoids removed and tubes put in his ears at 3 years old. Let me tell you, I NEVER felt rushed. I never felt stupid for asking questions and the level of attention and detail at the hospital from the doctor personally was above and beyond. (especially on the day of surgery when I felt completely wrecked from what my son was going to have to go through.) The process of waking up from anesthesia was extremely hard for my son and the recovery (an overnight stay at the hospital) was also difficult. Basically a full 12 days of staying at home. BUT OVERALL, I'm so glad I went to THIS practice with Dr. Ho. My son is a new kid two weeks later. He's happy and not sick and speaking in FULL sentences. (Something he was struggling to do before.) I prayed so hard for clarity and direction in taking care of my child and who to go to for help and I would hands down recommend Dr. Ho as a surgeon based on our experience. (Overall notes, front desk, not the friendliest crew in town - as in most front desks but totally fine/what you would expect from a crazy busy practice. Weight time usually around 15/20 minutes - we always had morning appointments. Overall - a very well run, efficient, practice from what I thought.) read more

I had a simple procedure done. I give the doctor whom I saw, 5 STARS. I suppose the doctor's performance is the most important, but when one runs into a billing department that is clueless and an occasional front office jockey that is nasty...well...it is really a pain. This grade is due to the billing office, and whomever is in charge of the office in general. They do not know how to bill properly. Since that is their sole purpose, I think that the bosses might think about a training program to get the department up to date. They are unaware of the new plans being offered by insurance companies with which they already do business. I do not know where they are stuck at, but this is 2020. The billing office deserves 0 STARS. They are listed as being in my network by my insurance company, but they are no longer in my network. The insurance company states that it is Suburban's fault for not notifying them. I do not know if that is true or not. The insurance company normally operates in a state of mediocrity. Mediocre insurance company is redundant, though. Some of the people at the front desk deserve 5 STARS. Some of the people at the front desk deserve 0 STARS. read more

When my mom called to see if she could get in that day to see a doctor because she was having dizzy spells the Receptionist was very RUDE and said that their was no openings and that my mom would have to wait until June or go to the emergency room. My sister worked for many doctor offices and they always had openings put aside for emergencies. Their are 5 doctor's at this location in Arlington Heights and not one doctor could take her. My mom ended up finding a doctor who took her the next day. She would not recommend this location because they do not want to help anyone and has an attitude on top of that. read more

Extremly disappointed with service. Unprofessional and careless. Don't expect from the stuff to resolve issues, complications or apologies. I was patient enough and forgiving but I'm taking my child somewhere else. Post surgery issues not handled timely or appropriately, front desk unfriendly and i don't even want to start with the billing department. My wife recently saw Dr. Petchenik for an evaluation as she was referred to him by her endocrinologist. Although she has only seen him once, she feels he is a thorough doctor who has taken charge by ordering necessary tests to get to the bottom of her problems. She has been very happy with Charly , who is very compassionate and has been diligent calling her back and taking care of her medical insurance issues. We love Dr. Pugnale and everyone at the office. She placed Ear Tubes for my 1.5 year old and we just saw her for the last time as the ear tubes have officially come out. Every appointment has been quick and easy with plenty of explanation when needed and my daughter is never nervous to go there. After waiting months for my appointment Dr Clark, the day of I get a call in the morning cancelling as the Doctor has a surgery. Obviously I'm not happy as scheduling with this group was already a nightmare. They tell me they can't get me in until Friday but then find that Dr. Ho has a cancellation and they can get me in that day about 30 minutes later than my previous appoint. As I had to schedule off of work early I was relieved. I then get a call 5 minutes later to tell me that they have to cancel on me again and the only time they have is Friday at 8 AM. I tell them I have to go see if I can arrange the time off at work and will call them. I'm informed that they are closed between Noon and 1 PM but will be available after that. I called at 1:06 and get sent to a call service because there is no one in the office. The call service says they can't take a message unless its an emergency and to call back at 1:30 because they're often late from lunch. Obviously, I'm already frustrated by the lack of professionalism by this staff and when I do finally get through I'm going to be upset. I tell them this and that I can't do a morning appointment. They tell me they can't do an afternoon appointment any time this or next week. After waiting 2 months I'm not willing to push this to almost 3 especially as I've been suffering. Instead of empathy, I was told basically to go elsewhere. I am going to do just that but I'm going to let as many people know as possible that this is beyond unacceptable and that they should look elsewhere when looking for help. read more

I have been with Dr. George Smyrniotis since I was in High School and he removed my tonsils. My entire family has actually been patients of his. It only made sense that I follow him into my adult life. Dr. Smyrniotis always takes the time to squeeze me in and to really make sure i feel comfortable with what is going. I have even seen other doctors in the group, and though they are good too, Dr. Smyrniotis is absolutely the best. I highly recommend! read more

Dr. Clark is wonderful. About 3 years ago, I saw him for a severe sinus problem. I had to have surgery and he was very caring before and after the surgery & follow-up appointments. The surgery was one of the best things I ever had done. No more headaches, feeling like my head was underwater, pressure, etc. The surgery was as an Outpatient. Have had 2 annual exams since the surgery and everything is fine. He said to come back in another year. Of course, if a problem should arise, I'll call him sooner. The staff is friendly. I was referred to Suburban ENT by my primary physician, I had a bad experience with 2 Drs the first Dr I saw was not very Thorough in his testing , went back and requested a different Dr , thinking I would get a second opinion and more thorough testing and probably shouldn't have , I realized after the office visit that because they are working in the same office , my opinion is they are not going to disagree or step on another Drs toes , this office was not a good fit for me I am being referred to a different ENT and hope to get my issue resolved , read more

Dr Maria Wittkopf is superb! We visited Dr. Wittkopf for our baby's tongue-tie. Let me give you a background - when it is anything about your baby, you will always have at least 200 questions and you will be nervous like crazy. Having said that, Dr. Wittkopf was just amazing. She was patient and willing to answer all of our questions. I am sure she must be dealing with such parents all the time but she wasn't condescending one bit. She explained the entire procedure beforehand and in detail. And she even guided us properly regarding the risks and benefits. I wasn't in the room when the procedure was done, but my husband was there. And he was relieved and happy with the way they handled our baby. The doctor sure knows what she is doing. The staff was very helpful. Just a few points though - the initial signing up process for new patients is enormously lengthy. Be patient during that. And secondly, getting an appointment was really tough because they work only on third Saturdays (weird, right!) and the surgeries and procedures are done only on Tuesdays. If you can deal with this side issues, the doctor is simply amazing. I am glad we sought her advice. read more

I came for my first visit prepared, downloaded forms online and hoped for the best. It took them 20 min to get me in, so printing forms and have them ready is only for them to save on ink a and paper. Doctor saw me , and asked to go to other room for basic hearing test which revealed nothing. Shocker - when I was leaving at the checkout I was hit with additional $ 41.00 for this test. When I asked why, I was told that I have deductible - I said that it would be nice if someone would ask prior but instead girl just took my card, charged it and ask to sign. my dr told me to get an x-ray for my tonsils. When I told her I prefer an ultrasound because I did not want to x-ray my head they said that is not a thing. Even though pleantly of places offer ultrasounds on tonsils. ..strange... Probably because xrays are more expensive. Also the receptionist was not familiar with my insurance and told me she is not sure how much to charge me for my visit. read more

My boyfriend found out he has medullary thyroid cancer. He went to Dr. Kirk Clark at Suburban Ears Nose and Throat. We cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Clark and his staff. His bedside manner is superb. He really cares about his patients and their families. He did a major 9 hour surgery on my boyfriend and had his nurse call me in the waiting room from the surgical room a few times during this long surgery to keep me updated on how my boyfriend was doing. We felt so safe and that we were in such good hands with him. Then a week after surgery we were in his office waiting room for a follow up and my boyfriend started to lose his control of his face, mouth and arms and it seemed like he was having a stroke or something terrible in seconds Dr Clark and his wonderful staff had 911 on the phone and a crash cart and Dr Clark himself was sitting on the floor holding my boyfriend. Thank God he was ok. It was a sudden drop of calcium in his body from the removal of the thyroid. But Dr Clark and his staff were so concerned and moved so quickly to keep him safe. I recommend him and his practice to anyone in need of a fantastic ENT. read more
