For ANY issues that you may be having that are Otolaryngology (Ear/Nose/Throat) related, I could…read morenot recommend trying to see Dr. Ksiazek enough - after just one visit with him, I was very impressed. Dr. Ksiazek was very kind, calm, and helped put me at complete ease with my entire visit. (** Quick summary: For about 5 weeks, I had been having some continuous, unexplained "burning sensation" around my lower throat/voice box area. When it wasn't subsiding, I naturally became more concerned and then made the awful mistake of trying to diagnose myself "online", which only made matters 10x worse. I was a nervous wreck thinking I had something serious. After seeing several of my own doctors who didn't think it was anything of significant magnitude, they referred me to an ENT. Since the issue STILL wasn't subsiding, my worries weren't either. BY CHANCE, I found a quick appointment with Dr. Ksiazek at his Glen Ellyn office.) The entire experience was wonderful. From the time I signed in, I wasn't sitting in the waiting room but maybe 5 minutes when one of the nurses had called me back. I hadn't even made a dent in filling out the few pieces of paperwork. She was very kind and friendly - walked me back to one of the offices to await the doctor. After taking some quick vitals, the nurse said that Dr. Ksiazek would be right in. I am not exaggerating when I say no more than about 1 minute later, Dr. Ksiazek knocks and walks in and introduces himself. I was shocked (in a good way)! I hadn't even parked my car more than 10 minutes earlier and the nurse hadn't walked out more than 2 minutes ago. Perhaps by coincidence it was a very slow period, but still. As mentioned, I felt completely at ease. Dr. Ksiazek was kind, soft-spoken, and had a calming demeanor. He asked me to explain to him what was going on - and I took a few minutes doing so. I told him that after about 5 weeks, I had just worried myself sick trying to figure out what condition I had, and that it wasn't subsiding. Based on what I must have written when I scheduled the appointment (and perhaps reviewing my previous doctor visit notes and records in the system), it almost seemed Dr. Ksiazek had an idea of what was going on with me, but said he would do a scope of my throat to put me at ease. I had never had one of these before, and Dr. Ksiazek explained what it is, how he would do it, and said it was very quick and painless. The entire scope procedure was not at all uncomfortable, and quick - maybe 45 seconds tops. On a scale of 1-10, discomfort was maybe a 1.5. After I sat for about 5 minutes of having numbing spray put in my nose, Dr. Ksiazek ran a scope thru my nose (no pain, and he talked to me calmly as he did everything) and was able to see my throat. Long story short - I had common laryngeal reflux (similar to acid reflux) which had been happening so often it left me with the continuous burning sensation of my throat. I felt like 5 cinder blocks had been lifted off my shoulders. We also addressed my rare laryngeal spasms (feeling of waking up suddenly and not able to catch a breath) which he felt were also related to the reflux condition. I was prescribed some medicine to try, and Dr. Ksiazek told me to message him and just let him know how things were proceeding several weeks later. I left feeling with a huge sense of calm and relief - and all within about a half hour of walking thru the parking lot (Can't beat that! Again, this may be a unique situation just based on that particular day's schedule). I only wish I could have found Dr. Ksiazek sooner. I highly recommend him for any of your ENT needs or for any situation you may be having (ENT related) which may be of concern to you. You can even make some appointments online! Highly recommended, and I would def see Dr. Ksiazek again or refer my family to him!

After talking to him, I felt I had nothing to worry about. On the day of operation of course I was worried, but he came in and talk to me and once again, I was calmed and assured everything would go well . The next day I called him about four or five times with different questions. Within an hour of my call, he called me back. I have never had a doctor respond so quickly and listen to what I had to say and tell me that I could call at any time. He said that was his job. I am so impressed with Dr Schwartz. I would recommend the suburban endocrinologists highly. And a scale of one to 10 they are 15 or 20.

My physician is a fully licensed ear nose and throat surgeon, most commonly I find myself at the office for my routine ear servicing, I produce a good amount of wax (think Shrek) the amount of wax he pulls out every 6 months is probably enough to make a very stanky candle. He is very thorough even for what is just a clean up appointment, he asks me for my recent medical history including any infection incidents. He goes the extra mile to provide a patient like me with anxiety disorder extreme levels of confidence by performing extra laboratory work to assure me that the prior infection is truly eradicated, this can be as simple as running an extra culture to running a culture array. It's a shame that other doctors don't do a culture array as soon as I get sick because the culture array tells all. Doing a throat culture is far different than sampling from the throat swab and labeling it as AIRWAY GRAM STAIN POSITIVE and pulling a second swab for AIRWAY GRAM STAIN NEGATIVE. In some cases he will even pull a second pair of swabs for Aerobic and Anerobic stains if an infection is active. He's a very flexible physician and will participate in collaborative care with patients who have education about their own conditions and the diagnostics that surround them. Many doctors will go ape crazy if you tell them what diagnostics you want done but doc Smyrniotis is not at all one of those elitist "I know what's best I'm the doctor I'll do what I want" types. He's the type who will take your request for any test or procedure and tell you the pros and cons and his vote whether it's appropriate or not and if it's not he will go to great lengths to explain why doing such a test or procedure isn't needed. We need more doctors like him and his team. The entire team follows this collaborative GEM care standard that I wish all doctors followed. In a lot of cases it's the patient who knows their body the best. The office is clean and well sized. There's plenty of waiting area to socially distance from other people and while masks aren't required office staff encourage them and disposable masks are available at the front desk. In back the office hosts a wide array of examination rooms making the office have a pretty good level of patient turnover offering short wait times for your appointment and potential flexibility for urgent care / emergency appointments same next day or same week. In some cases availability is limited but the physician can electronically send instructions/order to your selected urgent care center on how to perform diagnostics. This office and the physicians are the Cadillac's of Ear Nose and Throat centers. Extremely comfortable to be around and high performance.

Front Desk staff demeanor was incredibly rude and condescending! When I informed them that I only had an electronic copy of my insurance card Front desk lady started huffing and puffing, visibly in distress. She provided me the email, and spelled out " G-E-N-E-R-A-L" as if it is not common spelling. I emailed it to them as I do with other providers, and as I was waiting in the waiting area she calls me over by gesturing with her hand instead of calling me by name, also very professional. She said "The image is too large", and in case I didn't understand they also took the time to print it out into several sheets of paper, which she then preceded to show me one by one. And when I told them that I didn't have a copy of the back side, she about almost lost it! Case in point, I am not sure what the deal was and had I not been there out of medical necessity I would have walked away in a heart beat, but I have been to many other medical providers and until yesterday never had I been treated with such disrespect. It is the first impression you make of your practice and it was not a good one. I would advice that you give your Front Staff some additional breaks so they don't become so overwhelmed by small simple tasks. Or perhaps some additional training with computer software so they know how to make a large image into a smaller one. Audiologist and Dr. Deitch were great, so it's a shame that front desk behaved like so. Thank you!
