Quite possibly the WORST propane company out there. Price gouging and rudeness (Marcus and staff) are the norm.

I have had no problems with United Propane. They have always been polite so I am wondering if the other reviews are isolated instances?

We just had a whole house generator installed, and this is the company that we used to set up and fill the propane tanks that will power the generator. The initial delivery of the tanks was coordinated by the generator installation company, however, from the day of tank delivery up until now everything has been fantastic. Dennis, the delivery driver who brought, installed, and filled the tanks up was very helpful. He answered all of my questions and took great care to install the tanks in a manner that was safe and in the location that I needed. When dealing with the staff that has handled everything else when I've called, I've been incredibly impressed. I initially spoke to Lynn, who just like Dennis, patiently answered all of my numerous questions. She explained the process of getting us set up with our own account and what to expect for the next steps in the process. Now that everything is up and running, I had the pleasure of speaking to Mary yesterday. Again, Mary was very helpful, professional, but also very friendly and personable. I love supporting locally owned small businesses and I'm so glad this is the company that the generator installation company works with because I could not have picked a better company to service my tanks! If you're looking for a propane company, definitely give them a call. Their prices are reasonable, the service is great, and I have been very pleased already.

Doug and his team at Economy Propane (EP) are the gold standard when it comes to propane delivery,…read moreservices, and propane products. Prior to ordering propane, I call around to compare prices and EP is usually the lowest or among the lowest, especially for non-contract, will-call customers. Five years ago I found EP by doing a Google search for propane delivery providers. They were one of the few companies that allowed for will-call/at-will delivery of fuel. Meaning you did not have to agree to unscheduled recurring deliveries at times and frequencies the company chooses. That system is a convenience for some customers, but I prefer to call when I need or want to pay for fuel. EP only charges a $5 delivery fee, total, on top of fuel cost. Doug also is upfront about anticipated price fluctuations in the propane market. If he believes the prices will go down (or up) soon he will let you know so that you can either wait (if you have enough fuel) or adjust the amount of propane you order. Having dealt with other companies on contract orders it seemed that they always delivered when prices were highest. Even if they knew prices would fall after winter, those other guys would deliver that last of winter delivery even if the tank was relatively full. Rewind to the frigid first week of February 2018. On Wednesday, January 31st, I check my propane level and saw there was only about 8% remaining. Not good, considering the prediction of colder weather. I called Doug and company and he promised to get me a delivery by Monday. Even though they plan out their drivers routes usually a week or more before, he worked me into the schedule when he heard how low my levels were. If the tank runs out or is close there is a costly process to either get an emergency tank or to purge and fill an empty. The cost for either is like $100-$200 plus. Doug could have simply waited until the next day and charged for this emergency service. On Monday the 5th, I returned from work at 5:45 p.m., hoping to be pleasantly surprised by a fresh delivery of propane but to no avail. The tank was now hovering between 4%-3%. In a panic I called Doug and he stated the driver had an emergency and that as long as DOT regulations for the time a driver is allowed on the road are not exceeded, that the truck would make the delivery. I will spare those unfamiliar with propane delivery protocols or with DOT driver regulations, the gritty details but since the trucks have thousands of gallons of liquid propane in a huge tank on it rear, the government likes the drivers to be rested lest they get sleepy have an accident and cause a fiery inferno of death. At about 7:15 or so, I hear the rumbling of the truck as it pulled up. I ran outside like a kid on the last day of school to greet and thank the driver. He told me that Doug call him over the radio and asked that he try his very best to get me the fuel delivery because I was so low. The driver had to come from several counties away (and back) but they knew we were in need. Over the years, that is not the first time they were so accommodating. That is just the way they conduct business. I cannot thank Doug and his crew enough for going above and beyond when it would have been so easy to blow me off by saying I should have called early before the propane levels were so low. They would have been able to charge the emergency fill fee or the empty tank check and purge fee of $100-$200. A company would be correct in that assessment, it was clearly my fault and my fault alone. Here is the difference with Economy Propane, they have a spirit of taking care of their customers with stellar customer service. Even on days when they have their own emergencies like today, Doug and crew looked out for us and went above and beyond to deliver. Every person at Economy Propane I have spoken to or interacted with as they delivered fuel of checked our propane appliances have been courteous and professional. The name of the company is perfect when judging their prices, however, their service and level of care for their customers is platinum level. Five stars are not enough. Kudos to Doug and his team. Special acknowledgment to the driver who made the delivery to Glenn Dale, MD on February 5th (I cannot recall his name).

I use a remote gauge and it's pretty accurate, and I have no issue doing it this way. This gives them an idea how much fuel we're burning and allows them to get me on the delivery schedule. With any snow or ice storm, I clear the driveway, our sidewalk and I remember to clear a path to the tank. This last storm (1/25/2026) was brutal, a lot of sleet and freezing rain. The driver showed up as scheduled on Feb 3rd and was thrilled to see a clean spot on the street for him to park the truck, with a clear path to the tank. And hats off to the delivery guys, they're awesome!

Long story short...we finally were able to Purchase the tank from our propane company. Sharp energy was referred to me by a couple of friends. So I gave them a call. Fortunately I did not purchase the tank at that point and was able to get the problem solved before I "Bought it" as part of the purchase. Our propane company came out quickly to resolve the issue. A recheck by Sharp found it was still not correct, again our company came out to address it again and again it failed. Richard sent a Sharp tech out who identified a bad grounding site, cleaned it up, retested and this time passed in flying colors! If Sharp is willing to do this before I'm a customer? I can't wait to be one!!! The cost savings is almost staggering between what we were paying vs Sharps pricing. My impression is that HD is geared more for the pros while Lowes is more for regular consumer DIYers. So, I use their respective apps and check what they have for my projects. Lowe's uses local companies in the areas and Lowe's then becomes sort of like the "middle man" at least that's what it felt like. We ran into issues when scheduling the vanity install and it took multiple trips to Lowe's and multiple phone calls to get the appointment. It was a lot of hassle that I prefer not to deal with. I thought going throw Lowe's to schedule install would make things easier, but after that experience, I feel as though it might be easier to purchase what I need from Lowe's and the hire people myself for the install. In the end the installation happened and I'm satisfied with the product but just wish I didn't go through the hassle of it all. Again the Lowe's employees were patient and kind so I really appreciate them.

They cut me off a couple of times during the winter months. I have not used any propane in over a year. I purchased a heating element to do anything that I needed to cook. I also have a microwave and toaster oven. Having to look over several months statements, I noticed that I am being charged a rental fee of $53.00, that said annual fee. Every time I get a bill there is that rental fee added to the bill. I have had so many discussions with them, the last email I received from them told me that all companies charge rental fees. I called a couple of the other companies and was told they do not charge a rental fee on their tanks. When I informed them that they were wrong, I was told to find another company. I don't know what business behaves this way, but in my opinion, it is wrong. I am 76 years old and disabled. I can't work any longer and my social security benefits cover just the bare necessities, such as rent, food, water and sewer, gas, car insurance, registration on my vehicle is over $190.00. I can't pay it all. Yes, I get $50 food stamps benefits, but that amount is very small. I do appreciate it though. I'm at my wits end. I have a low credit score and can't afford to get another propane company without them asking for a huge deposit. If I had a large amount in my bank, I wouldn't be in this situation.
