Suburban Propane bought out the company I was using and their service went well for a while. Last fall I ordered a tank of propane and a month later I was hit with a tank rental bill at double what I had been paying. I am a senior citizen on a fixed income and have to budget my moneys. They did not notify of the increase and it hit me hard! I wrote this company a letter explaining that I wanted to discontinue service with them and to be reimbursed for the gas that I paid for that is still in the tank. They ignored it and keep sending me bills with more interest added on. They are more interested in $$$$$$$$$$$ than in customers needs or concerns. With the number of One Star rating that I see on the site, I think it would be in their best interest to look into new leadership and policies that are going to be more customer friendly. read more

Careful with this service. We sold our house in September but despite calling them to make sure they knew we no longer owned that home, they are still billing us for tank rental. They apparently had it on record that the house was being sold as well. read more

Horrible, rude customer service. Had a delivery day of Wednesdays. They changed it to Friday without telling the customer. They want to charge me 195 for coming on Wednesday instead of Friday. I was told I should check my tank more often. read more

This company sucks....we're building a new home, Suburban serviced the old home we tore down, we're also adding an accessory bldg. After 5 calls and 4 weeks and assurances they would get back to us, we never heard from them, we even called their main office in New York. We're moving on to another company. They will have to pick up a 1,000 gal tank and a 500 gal tank, that's a lot of lost revenue to them, doesn't figure.... read more

BEWARE of this company!!!! When it was Santa Fe Propane we were so very happy with the service and especially with our wonderful driver. Then Suburban took over and Nothing has gone well. As a result we are cancelled our service with them. A few of the reasons for cancelling are as follows: 1) took three phone calls to finally get a refund from their overcharging us $ 130.00 2) an increase of $1.00 a gallon was charged to our account without notifying us. 3) upon terminating our service and requesting their tank be picked-up we were told they will only pick it up when there are others in the neighborhood that need to be picked up! Could take up to 2-3 weeks before they can get to it and it will be in our yard and will be seen when you view our house. I wouldn't recommend using this company at all! read more

I called to get our tank refilled and to pre-buy 400 gallons. The lady on the phone never put us in for the pre-buy snd now it's too late. They have the worst customer service We will be looking into switching companies. read more

We were doing business with Suburban Propane for over 15 years...recently, we had a problem with our solar system, and our propane level dropped to less than 10%...they always delivered on Mondays...so we contacted them. They said they couldn't deliver Monday because of the 4th of July holiday. The 4th of July was Sunday! I told them that after over $10,000. and 15 years of service, we have never asked for anything, but we were in a desperate situation, could they bring some propane - any amount! After hours, I got a call back, and they said "sure, we'll bring you a load at the end of the day! The only thing, we would be charge an extra delivery charge..." I thought OK, maybe $50.? Nope! They wanted to charge us $195.00!!!! Almost $200. to deliver 3 days early. We cancelled our service!!!!! Then they came the following Monday to deliver propane...you've got to be kidding...by that time, we had already started our new service with our new company. We told them just to pick up their tank. Oh, and we didn't get our deposit back...then the driver who just came to pick up the tank said that lots of people were cancelling, and the company was happy as now they didn't have to pay overtime to their drivers anymore. AWFUL PRICE GOUGING! We are new to Propane service and assumed in a smaller community they would be competitive. We inherited the service with a small amount of propane from the previous owner. Their regular price is $3.61 per gallon!!!! of propane. Seniors, firemen, military get .25 cent discount bringing the rate down to $3.36!!!. Compared to Barrett; current prices $2.69 to $2.79 Yavapai Propane $2.69. I did not verify prices before ordering a fill on our tank. Lesson learned. Customer service agent told me there was a 20% discount, but when questioned she says they told me .25cents. I beg to differ. She told me "people often get mixed up". I ran my own business successfully, for over 30 years. I wasn't successful by mistaking the difference between 20% and .25 cents off. However, set that aside, this is outright price gouging. If you want good service I have heard really good things about Barrett. I just got pricing info from Yavapai and while I can't speak to their service their pricing is better! I just bought a house in Chino Valley Az. I thought we had the Propane set up to auto fill from one of the local companies, but we ran out of propane is it was a VERY cold morning. I was told there are 6 local companies that service Propane here and i called every one of them. I didn't get any help until i called the last one on my list, which was Suburban Propane. I talked to a VERY nice lady, Julie. She was EXTREAMLY helpful and answered all my questions. She had their technician " Billy " come out and fill out tank in a couple of hours. She help me get the tank full, set up autopayment and autofill. Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOO very much Julie. Billy was also very helpful and very nice. He showed me how to read the tank gauge, and turned both heaters and the hot water heater back on. You guys are GREAT, i highly recommend you as a fantastic propane service. Sincearly Paul read more

I was on a payment plan and was making my payments as planned. I recently ran out of propane and was told that when I was put on a payment plan that I was taken off of auto fill. However, I was never told this and I had been on auto fill the last four years. I was informed that I would be charged a fee to refill my propane. I refused to pay this due to the fact that they misinformed me. The first lady I talked to proceeded to hangup on me. I called back and they wouldn't listen to me and kept interrupting me. The customer service is zero. After 5 years with this company I was treated like unfairly and disrespected. Thankfully they came and got their tank off my property and I won't have to deal with them again. After the company was bought by the new owners it has went down hill unfortunately. read more
