My Husband & I visited this spot for lunch this afternoon and we had such a great experience. The inside is clean and organized. The workers were welcoming and the food is great. There were so many options of what to eat it was hard to decide. Everything looked good. We did end up narrowing things down and ordered the Mesa Chicken Panini and the Bourbon St Panini. All the food here is good, so for that part I don't mind coming here for lunch. But wait times have always been bad, and are not improving. There are always at least 8 people behind the counter, but good luck getting someone's attention to place your order. They are always busy doing something else (call-in orders, catering maybe) Waiting on line to pay is another drawn out event. Usually only 1 cashier, sometimes 2 on a good day. They have to go find your food. If you ordered something hot it will be at best warm by the time you are rang up. They need a better system for ordering and paying. Over the last few years they were the only place like this around...but newer places are opening close by which are quicker to get in and out. Today I made my second trip to Suburban Eats. I got a Spinach salad with beets, corn, goat cheese, honey mustard, artichokes, corn, and tomatoes. It was scrumptious! The man making my salad was patient with me, as I didn't know all of the ingredients he had. At the end he said, "You look skinny, have two pieces of bread." Was in the area today & stopped by for a quick bite to go. I ordered a chicken cutlet with lettuce & tomato on a roll & my husband ordered a roast beef sandwich. Decent sized sandwiches & lots of meat on the bread. The only issue I had with my sandwich was the chicken cutlets were very over cooked/burnt on the edges. I went there for the first time today after getting a new job in Melville. I ordered my usual sandwich on a "wedge". The server had no idea what I meant so I pointed to the wedges. She went on to call me out by saying, "You're in New York kid, they're called heros." I ate the sandwich and it was decent but I was furious by what she said, I'm born and bred in New York and she is the first person to call me out on calling the bread a wedge out of the many (and I mean many) delis I've been to. So this is the second time I have come to Suburban eats for lunch and honestly it would have been a better time if it wasn't for one person. The food is okay, chicken was ice cold even after it was in a 'grilled' pannini, but one fact got to me. I ordered a Roma Wrap, chicken, pesto, red peppers, and mozz. Easy. I've worked at a deli for 8 years and never told a customer what i was told next. I waited online like everyone else, my friend ordered the same wrap right before me and she had no problem they took care and made it for her. But when I asked for mine, i was told they were in the fridge behind me. No. I waited, i chose something off a list, you are making it fresh. You do not tell a paying customer to go grab a pre-made sandwich off in the fridge. Pure laziness, im not sure if he was new but I insisted (politely) to make it fresh, and he insisted I grab one out of the fridge. I barely write negative reviews but i feel like i had to since I feel if it is on a order list they will make it fresh, then I got ice cold chicken ontop of that? Good try but it was probably one of the worst sandwiches ive had. It takes a lot for me to black list a lunch spot, id give them another chance but not any time soon. read more

The longwood sandwich is my favorite as well as the suburban pasta!! We also used them for my daughters 1st birthday party and order the gourmet sandwich package. They cut the sandwiches into 2 or 4 pieces depending on the type of bread used and organized it beautifully in a basket. You can get a variety of sandwiches to mix it up, there's no minimum of a type of sandwich you have to order. Ordering was easy and they also deliver! I've also had the bolognese rigatoni and garlic knots when we had another party and it was EFFIN DELICIOUS!!! If they offered it on the regular menu (it's on catering only) I would be there every day...well every Saturday for cheat meals...and maybe a Wednesday here and there, because i have no self control. read more

I ordered catering from Tim at Suburban Eats for a brunch baby shower and they did an outstanding job! Tim and his staff were wonderful when I called to update the order. Day of service was also wonderful! The food was great and everything was included. One note- the paper goods and cutlery were very basic, so I would advise purchasing that stuff for a fancier event. read more

i love suburban eats so much, i can only wish that i lived closer. they have an incredible selection of food, you're almost overwhelmed and don't know what to choose unless you go in there knowing exactly what you want. it is always packed and if you are going prime lunch time it gets crazy (especially because of the area with all of the businesses). i usually always head straight to the chopped salad station because they are made delicious. a flipped mixed green salad with their sesame ginger dressing is the best. read more

Way overrated. The place is one of the more expensive deli's around and the food isn't worth it. They catered almost every event my company had, so I tried a little of everything and it was sub-par. The breakfast pizza was good though. The worst part of this place for me was the fact that they NEVER changed their gloves when say, making a bagel and taking money from people. Came here 3 times at 3 o'clock, every time the place is completely empty yet I wait 15 minutes for one sandwich. My last time going was today, I ordered a wrap and while waiting I wanted to check out the side salads. The kid helping me kept insisting that I go pay like I couldn't get anything else once I ordered, he kept looking at me while making the food as if he were doing something wrong and didn't want to be caught. Oh Suburban Eats how you let me down. So let's start with the good, they are open late (8 o'clock). That's it. Oh wait, they take cards. I also like that. Suburban used to be one of my favorite places to eat when I was a working lady in Melville circa 2010. I'm not sure if they got lazy or what but now that I'm back in the area, they suck. The service sucks. I was there on a Saturday afternoon around 1230 pm. Prime lunchtime. They had 1 lady taking orders while 7 other people walked around. It took me 20 minutes to order my sandwich. Now on to the sandwich, I normally order a bistro. The chicken tasted microwaved and the bacon was all fat. It's a panini and when handed to me it was lukewarm. Gross! Don't dine here. Stopped in here today around 2pm for lunch and there were so many people in there it was mass confusion. There's no real structure to placing your order. You just yell it to anyone on the other side of the counter what you want and then wait but it works ok I guess because I got my order in a few minutes. I ordered a teriyaki steak Stromboli which was very delicious. They have what seems an endless variety of salads, sandwiches and paninis posted on a giant menu posted on the wall. If you walked in not knowing what you wanted it might take you 10 minutes to decide because the choices seem endless. There is literally something for everyone. read more

In an area lacking options; this a solidly executed deli. Stuck eating $15 omlettes next door at the Hilton? This place has great ones starting at 2.99 + other ingredients and a bunch of cool stuff like organic juices and truffle oil. Lunch is great; sandwiches with artisan bread are popular as well as loudly chopped salads. Currently still waiting on my lunch delivery that was ordered at 10:40 this morning. It is now after 1 PM. They tell you deliveries take 60-90 minutes. I called at 1225 and then at 1245 at which both times I was told the order was on the way. We are located up the road from suburban so it should take no longer than 10 min. Food is awesome... When it's still warm. They're a very popular deli in the Melville business district. Delivery wait time is usually minimum an hour and a half during peak lunch hours which result in Luke warm food by the time you receive it. On a few occasions they have forgotten items and you have to wait even longer to bring back your lunch you ordered. Inside lines can be long but they move quickly. I do enjoy the food very much here but since they are so busy and popular their customer service can fall to the wayside quite often. When they're on they're on. When they're off they're frustrating. Worth trying the hot food if you go to the actual deli and not order in. read more

I wanted to update since my last writing. I just love grabbing lunch here. Just as great is the take out order I stopped in to make for a meeting at my office. I waited for it while enjoying my chopped salad (always delish)..and the staff was just so accommodating! It was a bit of a fussy order for a group but the staff at Suburban Eats worked with me and by the time it took me to eat my lunch, the order was all ready to rock and roll...wrapped decoratively and ready for a beautiful presentation on the conference room table. An added bonus were the delectable bakery cookies for dessert. FYI, they have wraps, pizza, yogurts, deli, hot dishes...anything you want for lunch is here! Second visit to this deli and it was equal to first. Excellent choice of salads and fresh sandwiches. There is ample seating and the place is clean and fast at serving. Last time I was here I ordered Caesar salad with chicken. Today I had the chicken salad in a wonderful whole wheat seeded roll. Both were delicious and both were super fresh! Stopped in here today for a quick lunch on the go. It was just after 1pm, and it was packed. It's a very small area that you have to walk through in order to get to the food. I was walking through carrying my twins in their car seats and I was nervous of knocking over someone's beverage. The employees working behind the counters were very nice and ready and willing to serve. The man helping me was not the most cheery, but the others around him were very nice. There was not much choice of bread at that point, so I guess it was a busy sandwich day. I couldn't get to the other side of the rope to 'stand on line to pay', even though I was ready to check out because of people waiting behind me and not being able to back up per say because of the car seats in my arms. Not the ideal situation, but I was hungry and preferred not to have drive thru food. There was one man that worked there that saw this and was very upset that the people would not let me in to the checkout and he said, 'That's not right, let her ho." I told him it was okay, I didn't have a problem waiting until there was no line and I thanked him. I was taken back that a 16oz soda was $2. I just kept thinking I could get a 2L in the store for .99 when they're on sale. But, that's any deli on LI, not just this one. Upon checkout, many employees offered to help me to my car or even with the door or carry one of the babies. A customer kindly held the door. Tight quarters, but very nice employees. I used to love this place, i had a few years i din't go. I walked in there today and when i went to pay for my food the man who served me started packing my food in a bag. I said im staying can i have a tray. He said you can eat from your bag. I could not believe it . I said forget it im leaving. I mean who says that to a customer especially when you have trays and tables. How unprofessional. Even McDonald's offer trays. The food is good, the salads are generous. The delivery time is ridiculous. It takes easily two hours to get your food, it's always cold and crappy. Just this morning I placed an order at 8 AM for breakfast, it's now a quarter to 10 AM and I still haven't gotten anything. So, in summation, the food is okay. If you order, you'll be lucky to get it before it's time for your next meal. If you go to the place you'll wait on line for an hour. Overall not worth it for the quality gotten, especially when every other place in the area seems to able to get their act together enough to deliver within 30 minutes. EDIT: Received the food after writing this review. It was warm which would be to their credit, they didn't send me a cold brick. The food here is good, it's just best to go and pick it up rather than order delivery, which is not reliable or timely in my experience. read more
