There's nothing to eat in Melville. This is the best out of every place I've been to so far. I've been going here 3 days in a row. I love the Bistro Panini. Melted brie cheese, caramelized onions, bacon, chicken, mmmmmmmmm. I do not love the JR Panini though. It was just alright. this is my Go To deli on 110. Weekday lunch time is a circus but a very well orchestrated one. Looks crazy until you slide into the line you want; fresh chopped salad, pizza or soup and the sandwich counter which is always full of fresh premade great combos. TIP- order first then go get your drink. then get in line to pay, if you're with a friend send them to go snag a table. Saturday (closed Sunday) you can be more leisurely about things. This is my firm's go-to lunch spot, for company sponsored lunches and special occasions you can be sure we are pulling out the Suburban Eats menus. We always order to the office and they've always arrived on time. Their food is all-around very good, and their catering menus are reasonable. It's great they have a big selection of food and I especially enjoyed the panini I ordered. For catering there is a nice spread of sandwiches/wraps, chips, soda, and cookies. The cookies are just 'meh' but at least the sandwiches are good and have a great variety. One day I will stop in the deli itself and report back what's happening inside, but for now it looks like I will be chowing down in the conference room. read more

Had this place a couple of times as a catered lunch (wrap, sandwiches, salads, and pizza) and it was great. I would highly suggest it for a company lunch or small party. Deli review: So I was in the area and decided to stop in. I decided to get a sandwich. Grilled chicken on a hero, lettuce, tomato, hot sauce, blue cheese dressing. It was just ok. I wasn't overwhelmingly impressed the way I was when I had their catered stuff. The chicken was super salty and the marinade they use overpowered the taste. It's probably good on salad or in a wrap but not for this particular sandwich. The hot sauce wasn't really that hot. Good: The sandwich was a good size for the price and well constructed. I've seen people complain about the prices here. $6.45 was more than fair for a hero like this one. Mac salad was good. The overall selection in this place is great too. I'm sure if you come here often enough you'd find the "go-to" items. Not so good: The grilled chicken: too salty and over seasoned. The kid behind the counter was SLOW. Kid moved like molasses and needed to speak up. Overall 3 stars is fair. I'd still come back here. Suburban is an Oasis. There isn't much stuff on this portion of Route 110 except some of the worst examples of poorly run chain restaurants and one horrible dinner. So Suburban is significantly better than any of the places I just described as a group. But taken by itself, Suburban is an ok place with a severe case of multi-personality disorder. There's a salad bar (closed on Saturdays), a pizzaria, a Manhattan-esque deli and a froyo place all under one roof. Perhaps this works on the weekdays when employees of nearby businesses need some nourishment on the fly? Taken in this light Suburban is the oasis as I first descibed. Now for the food: I ordered a chicken cutlet panini sandwich with fresh mozzarella and roasted peppers. The silly clerk asked me if I wanted it warmed to which I asked if paninnis were served any other way? He then proceeded to place my pre-made concoction on a panini press for what seemed like half a second. When I received the sandwich most of the contents were cold. The cutlet was too thick and the mozzarella was all dried out. The bread however was exceptional! My munchkin had the chicken finger and freedom fries. My buddies munchkins had the pizza and my buddy had a roast beef whole wheat wrap. We were all hungry. While I didn't ask any of them what they thought about the food, I surveyed they plates at the end of the meal and gathered their votes by what was left on the plate. One of his two munchkins ate all the pizza and the other didn't eat any part of the pizza except for the trial bite (fours stars and one star, respectively). As I sit here at my keyboard, hungry, disappointed, irritated and feeling that I have once again wasted my time... I wonder why I continue to punish myself, or better yet why this establishment continues punish me and other patrons with poor quality food. I cannot comment on the service as I was the only person in there, which in and of itself is surprising for 12:30 PM on a Friday in a corporate area at lunch time. Onto the food, what I ordered was Roast beef, American cheese, lettuce and mayo on a hero. I have attached a picture of the "sandwich" that I received in return. It was an entire head of lettuce chopped up slathered with mayo accompanied by two slices of roast beef. Now I am not sure who I offended but you can rest assured I am beyond offended that this is what was passed off to me for $9 plus tax and called a "sandwich". Personally I feel less scammed by the constant phone calls about "car warranties" and the like, than I feel I did by Suburban Eats. This a gourmet deli. I ordered chicken cutlet in a roll with lettuce, tomatoes, and roasted peppers. The roll had golden brown color with seeds on it; it wasn't that ordinary beige roll without any flavor. The veggies had bright, radiant colors which made it evident that they were fresh well before I bit into the sandwich and confirmed the freshness. The chicken cutlet was juicy and flavorful. My company recently relocated to the Melville area and I decided to try Suburban Eats.. I bought the premade salad for $6.95, it was plentiful and tasty.. I then looked into their prepared food case and saw MOLD, DIRT, GRIME on the entire back of the casing.. To the point that piled food FOR SALE, was also touching the cases. I brought this to the attention of 2 employees and they said the owner is redoing the place soon. I walk to the salad counter to have a salad made and there is no list of what you can put in your salad. You need to look over the glass on the side to guess what you want. I keep giving this place a chance but their service is so horrible I think I'm officially giving up after today's experience. The organization here is just totally non-existent. Every single time I get a panini it's the same stupid issue - they take your order and put it on the panini grill then they send you to go pay. The problem is, no one takes ownership of your order and ten minutes later you're wondering where your damn food is, until you realize that no one ever took it off the grill and it's now burnt to a crisp. This happened to me multiple times and it's difficult to prevent because the place is so chaotic that it's hard to get someone's attention and ask them to take your food off the grill before it turns into a brick of charcoal. And why should I have to worry about this? Should it really be the customer's job to manage the cooking process? Today I was trying to get a salad, which usually isn't an issue. It was 10:55 and many of the salad toppings were still covered by the metal lids. I set a package of lettuce on the counter to reserve my place in line and the employee standing there rudely told me that she wasn't ready yet. I said it's okay I'm just waiting and she gave me another rude look then continued doing... whatever it is that she was doing. After a few minutes of pretending to work and realizing I was not going to disappear, she sighed and grabbed the package of lettuce and dumped it into a bowl, and asked me what I wanted. I asked her if the toppings were available (they were still covered) and she said no. I said I don't understand you just asked me what I wanted... and she said WELL I have SOME things under here so why don't you just tell me what you want. I explained to her that I need to see the toppings to pick what I want (I'm sorry I am inconveniencing you so much but I actually have more important things to think about than memorizing the dozen or so toppings that are available at your salad bar.) She just rolled her eyes and sighed so I told her you know what forget it, I'll get something else. And I walked out. I really don't understand why this is so complicated. If the salad bar is closed, politely tell me that and let me know what time it will open. If it's not closed, get off your lazy butt and open it up and take my order, POLITELY! It will probably take a miracle for me to set foot in the place again. It sucks because they have decent food but it really takes a lot of patience to actually GET it! I understand you're bound to have a bad experience ONCE IN A WHILE almost anywhere. But about half the times I have eaten here there have been ridiculous problems like this; it's just way too much nonsense to deal with. read more

Walking in unsure of what I wanted I was rushed into a decision by the employees and asked for a simple Tomato and Mozzarella Panini. My sandwich wasn't what I ordered, not even a Panini, and had turkey on it. In addition, the sandwich was cold and fell apart in my hands (not In the good way). Meanwhile my friend waited about 20 minutes for his steak-bits sandwich. Which consisted of only 4 small slivers of steak on a tiny kaiser roll. Certain not worth the $16 spent on two sandwiches. I decided to try this place because my co-workers couldn't stop talking about how amazing the food was. After my experience, I can say I've had worse, but I'm pretty sure I'm not going back again. I've been going to this deli for at least 10yrs and while the service is not like it was the food is still really great. They have the best salad bar that I have ever been to. I love to build my own salad and it seems like they have everything there is to put on a salad. There sandwiches and panini's are excellent. I highly recommend three: the Londonport pub, the 110 express, and the bourbon street. The sandwiches are always fresh and if they run out of a certain one they will offer to make one for you. I've eaten there and it's nice but most times I take out. The staff is friendly but the service is way slower than it once was. I will have to take pictures the next time. During peak lunch hours as everyone from the corporate offices closeby flock here. Service is efficient tho... Just keep moving in line and decide fast! Only place of its kind in Long Island that I have seen. This place looks a lot like cafes in the city where you pick your food, get on line and pay. There's a salad bar, sandwhich line, hot food, pretty much anything you're in the mood for you could find there. It's pretty close to the offices in Melville so you get tons of working people during lunch hours. Def a good lunch spot. When I went I got a chopped salad with I think 6 ingredients, I don't think I paid more than 6 or 7 dollars, so def a lot cheaper than other places I've been to in the area. read more

This place makes me so happy(and so sad when I finish their food). I've been coming here for years after my best friend started working at Estelles and we used to go on her lunch break. This place actually reminds me of a typical New York City deli(with the lunch time crowd to go with It). Despite the long lines I will keep coming back again and again for their Longwood sandwich..grilled chicken, fresh mozzarella, lettuce, sundries tomatoes(I pick those off) and its covered with this dynamite pesto-honey spread. It makes the sandwich come together nicely. They use a lot of pesto(pesto bread or pesto spreads) on their sandwiches which I'm fine with(love the stuff). They really do have something for everyone. While I stick to the sandwich case(chicken griller is my back up if the longwood is out), someone like my BIL the vegetarian would visit the salad bar(where you can mix and match pretty much and salad ingredient you can imagine). They even have a pizza case(where you'll find my sister ordering her food). Of course no meal would be complete without dessert! My go-to is their to die for crumb-cake. They also have HUGE brownies, cookies, muffins etc. Lunch not your thing? They serve breakfast as well(they open at 6am). Went in early afternoon one Saturday. Impeccably clean, and beautifully set up - as always. I knew what I came for .. my favorite Bourbon St Panini & their amazing fries. What I love about their fries is that the "batter" on them reminds me of Checkers or Popeyes style fries and they never disappoint. I was helped immediately and waited maybe a little less than 10-minutes. I also had to help myself to a damn donut (which I didn't want to admit lol). I enjoy this deli/pizzeria quite thoroughly. The people who own this place know what they are doing. I have never ordered delivery, but judging by other reviews you are better served going to pick up your food. Every time I have visited the place is jamming, but I have never experienced an overly long wait at the counter. All of the panini and pizza items are sitting in a case already prepared. You are not waiting for them to assemble sandwiches, only heat them. That is the only reason I give this 4 stars instead of 5. I would prefer if the panini were assembled to order, however the place is so busy that this would make the pace unbearably slow. The turnover seems very high at lunch time and I've never gotten something that was old, so I deal with the pre-made sandwiches. Most of the sandwiches are $6.25 which I find quite reasonable. They are all on very nice breads and fair in size. Considering most places will charge you 5 bucks for a regular cold cut sandwich on a standard poppy roll, being able to get nice bread, cheeses & meats for the extra $1.25 is worth it, IMO. I can't speak for the salad bar and other prepared foods, though. Some of my favorites include the stuffed garlic knot, vermont maple panini, and sicilian panini. The garlic knot is jumbo in size and stuffed with prosciuitto, mozzarella, and tomato. They also have one with chicken in it if you want a real meal. Vermont maple panini is honey turkey with some kind of almondy spread and brie, delicious. The sicilian panini is a good vegetarian option if that's your mood and has layers of fried eggplant, roasted red peppers, provolone & artichoke spread. This place has gone down hill. Went in today and they had a very small selection of deli salads, hardly any drinks in the case. My husband ordered the London port and asked for extra chipotle mayo and the guy just slapped on plain cream cheese. Very sad place now. I will never be going back. read more

Love Suburban Eats! When I worked in the area, my department used to order from there regularly. It's usually pretty bustling during lunch hours but happily, they deliver. It's also super close to where I live and often I stop in to grab a small take-out meal for dinner. Wish I could give 2.5 stars. This place is really confusing, when you walk in there's 3 different lines that are for 3 individual reasons but no signs as to what each is for. I got in one line & was told to go to a different line, by an unfriendly deli counter person. My sandwich ended up being pre-made (Nantucket) it was OK but not fulfilling & I'm still hungry. It shouldn't cost almost $8 for a pre-made sandwich that comes just like the ones you see in gas stations. It's very packed & noisy. We had a party for 60 people. Did there catering menu for Traditional BBQ. They were right on time, setup, kept pumping out the food, in a perfect timely manner. Helped clean up the food after they were done. All the food was very good. Pulled pork, burgers,hot dogs, and bbq chicken. All the family and friends enjoyed the wonderful food. For deli fare, Suburban is tops. We routinely order lunch delivered to our office. However, you must be prepared to wait up to 2 hours to receive the delivery. And sometimes the grilled chicken (or various other ingredients from "build your own salad") may be missing from your salad. This is the reason I stopped ordering salads from Suburban long ago (even though some of their homemade dressings are delightful). The soups are overpriced and not as good as you'd expect, judging by the quality of their sandwiches and hot food choices. You cannot go wrong with any of the sandwiches or wraps. My favorites are the JR Special or the Longwood. Delicious and well worth the price. I would avoid going there at lunch time.
