This place is kind of hit or miss for me. I order from here both from work and home because it's conveniently located. I feel like it truly depends on the day when ordering from here, which is never good. If you get the owner that's working there, the service is fast, fresh, and pretty well made. If it's anyone else other than him, the food is not prepared correctly, it doesn't taste good, and the employees are rude and unprofessional. For example, my boyfriend went with his mom and myself to go pick up an order of pizza and wings. We were told that it was going to be 20 minutes so we waited 20 minutes and then went to pick it up. Upon arrival, when we walked in, the girl at the counter looked up from her phone and sighed, putting it away and then looked at us like we were annoying her by being there. Turns out they hadn't even started our order yet and couldn't have bothered to tell us it was going to be late. Then while we were waiting, the girl and another employee started making jokes and comments about his mother, calling her a man and when my boyfriend said something, they just rolled their eyes and continued on. When we finally got our pizza the dough was basically raw and undercooked, which I thought wasn't possible since it was so thin. The chicken wings were overdone and dry. Terrible. If the owner is there, the food is fine and worthy of at least a four star rating, but his employees are killing this restaurant quickly. read more

Ordered from there tonight the women who answered the phone was rude kept putting down the phone while taking our order got very annoyed when we asked questions about items and prices. Hung up on my boyfriend after wAiting almost an hour and a half I called to ask where our subs were and was again put on hold to talk to other people same women came back we were rudely told they got lost in Erie county and our food was on its wAy I asked politely to speak with a manager because of the attitude of the women I was told she was the manager! I then expressed I was worried after all that time I wS going to get cold soggy food I was again greeted with a nasty rude attitude I then told her I did not want the food without an apology she again hung up on me. 20/25 minutes later which made it almost 2 hours after ordering after I cancelled our order due to the rude behavior a delivery man shows up with the cold food I told him what happened told him I did not want the cold soggy food and asked him to let the owner know what happened. I then contacted the man on Facebook that had been on this site in earlier posts apologizing for the employees behavior and have not received anything back. To me this is not the wY to run a business and family or employee no one should be treating paying customers like this there is no excuse I will not be ordering from here Again and I do not recommend this place because of their attitude the way they treat customers and because of the way owner and manager handles problems terrible customer service skills! read more

It's unfair that they are rated only two stars. My mother and I just had the philly cheese steak sub and it was delicious. Not greasy or watery as stated in previous comments. Had an online order placed for the NT location. Said it would be about 20 minutes. When I arrived 25 minutes after placing the order, they had not even become aware that there was an online order being placed. I waited an additional 30 minutes at the restaurant for a sub and a side. The employee was indifferent to the extended wait time, did not apologize. Needless to say, I will never be returning to this establishment given their horrible customer service. read more

Since this Submasters opened, we've only ordered from them a few times. Every time, there's been an issue. First, they toast subs when you explicitly say not to, leaving me with two toasted ham and cheese subs that my mother and father (with weak/no teeth) could not eat. Then they burn not one, but TWO half trays of pizza. Their solution? We'll give you one free. Really? So one burnt pizza is replaced, awesome. What about the other one? Because at this point it's burnt, it's inedible, we've lost over fifty dollars because of burnt food. Thanks for your generosity in helping to remedy the situation. We'll be taking that free pizza and going elsewhere, thanks. There are plenty of pizzerias willing to deliver to the Tonawanda area; I would NOT recommend choosing this place because of convenience alone. Annoyed by soggy bread on my favorite sandwiches Ok let's start off stating I am originally from Central Pennsylvania, this makes me a bit spoiled when it comes to my Cheesesteak hoagies. Fox's Pizza Den is the go to place for the best I ever had. There ranked 12th out of the Top 25 pizza chains in the world. You will never get a soggy bun. That said, this is the third worst sub I have ordered from Submasters and it will be my last. The only reason I ordered this last one is because my old man is from North Tonawanda and I swear if it aint pizza he does not have a clue. He likes them because they are loaded with meat. BUT when I bite in to steak I don't want to crunch on anything hard (aka gristles or bone not sure) I have to spit out. This is what I expect in my Cheesesteak: Choice sirloin steak, melted cheese, peppers, onions, mushrooms. I have gone there since they opened and today was the worst experience ever, I called after I returned home and the Manager (so she claims) was so rude and hung up on me when I asked for her name, she informed me that when ordering a sub the customer must request lettuce tomato and onion they are not automatically supplied, I called another sub shop and was told the staff are to ask those questions. I ordered an assorted sub why would it be baked, They have lost my business and I will share the news with friends There are plenty of shops in town and they can have all my business. read more

There are two things I hate in this world, ISIS, and service from sub masters, not only was my order about 40 minutes late, but the food was cold and I had to give the delivery guy directions to down the street 2 separate times. I don't know how they continue to make deliveries without a damn gps or anyone with management skills that didn't have the customer service abilities equivalent to Helen Keller. We were curious of the new Submasters we were hearing everyone talk about so naturally we had to stop in and check it out for ourselves. Upon our entrance we couldn't help but notice how clean the place was. They also have an "open kitchen" which I've always thought showed an establishment's confidence in the way they present themselves to the public. Nothing to hide here, everyone was wearing gloves, hats and uniforms, and the kitchen area was just as spotless as the rest of the place. I had the honey stung chicken sub which was unlike anything I've ever experienced in a sub! I mean this thing was loaded with strips of grilled chicken, bacon and the sweetest honey b.b.q. sauce I've ever tasted! There was also something special about the cheese and after inquiring about it at the counter I found out that it was a mixture of real cheddar and monterey jack, a nice touch. I should also mention the fact that this sub was served to me on a plate with a fork. I could have made another sub from all the extra chicken that was busting out of the roll! My wife had the Shells' Special sub, the menu described it as a steak and cheese sub on a toasted garlic roll with a double layer of mozzarella cheese. Her thoughts were the same as mine, these guys are truly the Submasters! Just when we thought we were done the owner came from behind the counter with more food! White veggie pizza, old style pizza and funnel fries with powered sugar. The place was packed and he personally went to every table and made sure everyone got a sample. At first I really thought this was a chain restaurant, but after seeing this and after tasting the subs I knew there was no way. Sure enough he confirmed it was a family owned business. Absolutely five stars for Submasters. Great food, very clean and friendly service! Also five stars for their menu, everything from burgers and fries to homemade lasagna and steak dinners! The food is decent but the people working at the establishment are horrible. There's no need to be rude to your customers because they're the reason you have a job and they are also the reason you get paid. Don't work in the food industry if you can't have decent customer service. I called and they were a bit rude and seemed annoyed I was ordering. I didn't think much of it so I just carried on and went to pick my food up. There was a woman waiting for a pickup for some kind of food delivery like Grubhub or whatever. She asked how much longer for her food because she had already been waiting for a while. An older man with tattoos and gray white hair with a beard told her he didn't care how long she was waiting that he had other orders. A minute luee they bagged her food and this man practically threw it at her. This was so uncalled for and disgusting. The woman wasn't even being rude she was simply just asking. I'm not sure if the man is the owner or not but he clearly shouldn't be working here, and if he's the owner than he needs to be a better example to the rest of the workers.
