The Italian is so good. Love this place. A Wilmington staple for sure and reasonably priced!

One of my favorite lunch spots in town! Luckily I am right around the corner but need to cut back because I could easily eat there 3 times a week. Good basic old "hole in the wall" sub shop. Great "stick to your ribs" steak and cheese with lots of options to choose from but minimal filler and the hamburger aint bad either especially the combo deal. Their tuna cheese sub even has some flavor since even the tuna salad is made there on site. This place seems to go to extra mile for their customers. You get either a whole large sub you probably will not finish in one sitting or a half which you will finish eating but then want more later on and the prices are all pretty decent so go on and splurge. read more

I hate to do this but something has changed. The bread is different and really not good. There is way less meat on the sandwiches now and the whole thing is just put together sloppy. I used to love this place and I'm not sure what happened but I wont be back. Maybe there was a lack of profit so cutbacks in quality? Not sure but the quality is down and just not worth it anymore. Ordered take out last night and at the drive thru we did not receive the complete order. The receipt was emailed to me later and it was correct for what I ordered but one item was not in the take out bag. We live a ways away and did not return to complain about this. Tried calling the business and the lady I spoke to would not credit the cost back to me. Please look in the bag before leaving the drive thru window and verify your order is complete before leaving. read more

Terrible take out experience. They forgot to complete the order and when called upon this issue, not only did they weren't able to refund the money, they refused to do anything but to request I come back to pick up the forgotten food. Their fried mushroom also had empty mushrooms. How does that happen?? read more

Someone made a stupid review that there roast beef was red... okay so I really have to go there about the specifics on that comment.. I have been there almost 25 times in two months and have tried everything, and they haven't let me down. Okay, sorry they did as I didn't like something and they fixed it. Plain and simple. Don't bitch about something, when every place you go to eat is gonna be different. You don't like it, say something and have it fixed. And sub stop has yet to let me down when I said I didn't like something. I do try and try everything on the menu, and the few things I haven't liked there, they took care of and got me my regular. Decided to finally try this place after living here for 3 years. It's always been pretty busy when driving by. The prices are definitely reasonable. The special for a half (6 inch) sub, fries, and drink was about $7. I had a hot Turkey Club Sub. It was great. I loved the cherry peppers, they give the sub just the right amount of kick. The fries were crispy. I would have liked the sub bread to be a litte more toasted but that's just preference. It wasn't soggy at all. The girl behing the counter was friendly and helpful since it was our first time. I will be back to try one of their steak subs!! Great lunch spot!! Oh also...They have the good ice!! LOL read more

First time to the Wilmington area,,didn't really know what I wanted to eat for lunch today,,glad I stopped here, it's fairly small but it worked. The sub I got was very good just basic ham and cheese on wheat,,I ordered the small and it honestly had to be 8" or so got the combo and was like $7.75 can't beat that do a good sandwich. Anyway it was definitely full of local people so I'm betting you can't go wrong with anything they serve. Definitely recommend. That's my two cents for what it's worth read more

Cool vibe, really tasty Steak and Cheese. I definitely agree with Matt, it dominates. I think their specialties lean toward the philly-type steak and cheeses but I'm excited to explore the huge menu (italian subs, pizza steaks, burger specials which looked awesome). Lots of pepper choices which I dig. Very friendly and crowded during lunchtime. I popped in here one afternoon, and I was blown away. This place was amazing. You know any place that does oil and vinegar standard, knows how subs are supposed to taste (none of that Subway saran-wrapped meat packet crap) I just tried a turkey/swiss, but I WILL be back anytime I'm in that neighborhood. Don't bother going to Subway where the ingredients are mostly garbage and the price is too high. Sub Stop has everything you could ask for and more. Echoing the 'order a whole' sandwich comment! It's definitely worth it. And they had great tea. That is always a HUGE bonus for me, being a sweet tea fan. I had to get two cups and refill to take with. I like how the sitting area of the store is set up as well. Friendly service, though they do get a little busy. All in all, great sandwich! Would go back, certainly. Especially for those prices. Best sub in town. Have been going there for years and the food is always delicious. Cheesesteaks and the fried pickles are a must.

We were highly disappointed with our cold roast beef and cheese subs from here. We both like our RB on the rare side, this was very well done as in looked liked cheese steak meat just sliced deli style. I hated the bread too. My husband took 2 bites and said he couldn't eat it. I also ordered onion rings which he liked, but I found to be greasy and not very tasty. Guess it's Jersey Mike's next time. read more

Sub Stop is our own Wilmington gem. I'm a local and I have been eating here since I was little. The old owners were awesome and the current owner is just as awesome. I can say that very little has changed with Sub Stop over the years and to honest that's what makes in so special. #7 turkey and cheese hot has been my favorite. I love the sub stop the first time I ever had it was about two months ago and since then we have had it at least 5 times. Absolutely best sub shop in Wilmington! I get the 13- vegetarian all the way and my husband gets different subs but if you like subs this is your place...they close to early like 8pm so don't delay lol! read more

Ok, just let me say that I'm an old faithful. I have been going to the Sub Stop since it opened in a tiny little (former Ice Cream Shop) building a few spots south of their current location. Friends and I would ride our bikes over, get our sandwiches and ride to the GF lake to "picnic". Fun times!! I don't eat there as often as I would like (watching the waistline!) but I try to make it a few times a year. I started 2014 off by hitting the Sub Stop this week. As always, I stand there and read the menu, but always without fail, I choose the #11. The same sandwich I have been choosing for the last 35 yrs!!! Best sub place in town! Great bread, I love the way they slice thier onions and lettuce and their ranch is addictive. If you're from out of town you have to visit this little mom & pop at least once. I actually like Sub Stop and think that the food is good, but I do have a problem when you specifically request NO MAYO, not just once but every time I place an order. But guess what, I get mayo about 75% of the time and when I call to report their mistake they tell me that the person that took my order must have misunderstood. I could understand if it was once, maybe twice, but 75% of the time. I think not. read more

Sub stop is just great sandwiches and food period!! I have ate here since 1998!! In 1998 during a hurricane I went out riding around during the eye of the storm and I happened to see that substop was open(or so I thought) so I pulled in and walked inside and the owner was shocked that I was standing there waiting to order! He was just there to check on the store during the eye but since the store(substop) never lost power he said "ok give me a minute to fire up the grill and I will let you order" no longer than he got the words out of his mouth people started pouring in and he said to hell with it and opened during the eye of the storm!! We were all grateful for that and so was he. He got to make money!!:) anyways he sold it to an employee that had worked at substop for many years so this transition didn't hurt or change the food because he knew exactly how to cook it and how to run it!!
