We're doing a Philly cheesesteak pass in Jax - this was our first pick to try. I love quirky hole in the wall spots and this place checks all of the boxes for that. Cheesesteak with onions and peppers and provolone. I compare all to Pats in Philadelphia as the baseline. I'll say this one is on par. Nice twist on their spices. Good bread. We had the chicken philly, sausage sandwich and the gypsy fries... It was all crazy delicious. When a sandwich can put you on your ass because you've inhaled it in 3 minutes, you know you're eating the real deal. It's not easy to get an authentic philly sandwiches when you're not in philly but they've nailed it. On my way to another spot I was stopped at the light and looked to my left & spotted this lil gem out of the corner of my eye, I made a swift move out of traffic and right up to their window. So much to choose from, I went with the cuban, a refreshing mandarin orange drink and chips. The sandwich was panini style (pressed) the distinctive taste of pork came through as well as the taste of mustard/garlic, it was a different flavor that I had never experienced with a cuban sandwich but very good, service was friendly, since the sandwiches are made to order expect a bit of a wait, looking forward to trying the gypsy fries and a different sandwich soon! read more

Popularly known as the "Home Depot Philly Cheesesteak guys," it's about time they got their own spot. Sub Cultured is one of the best places to eat in Atlantic Beach. This is not your average sandwich shop. So far, I've tried their Philly Cheesesteak, Cuban and Sweet Caprese sandwiches. My hunger has been completely satisfied each time I've visited. You really can't go wrong with anything you choose. The restaurant occupies a tiny to-go stand nestled at the corner of Mayport and Donner Rd, with a few seats. Service is very friendly and helpful (as a bonus, the dude gave my dogs free treats). I will be back to try more. read more

Sub Cultured RULES!! My favorite place to go when I'm in town. The Cinotti's bread is amazing and I haven't had a sub I didn't like.

It was good, but a bit salty. They charge a bit much for what they're serving and the atmosphere is kinda wierd. Feels like a lunch truck in an apartment complex. I definitely would come back. read more

Really great local restaurant and have great delivery service that is super convenient for me with a one year old at home. Loved the packaging and food was terrific! The owner herself delivered it! Yelp did it again! What a fantastic find just where you would never expect it. You order via a window outside and then can sit in the parking lot outside or a small inside area. Nothing fancy but comfortable. Then the food comes and it is fantastic, hands down the best sub I have had in Jacksonville. This is a must visit place. read more

Their sandwiches are really good, but their fries have been cooked to crisps on more than one occasion. I really wanted to give them 5 stars but super crunchy fries more than 3 times sucks. I still like them a lot though so I do recommend them for a quick bite to eat. read more

Best Sub place in jax. I go there once a week. They always know what I want and are super nice. They use the best quality meats/cheeses you can get, and the sub rolls are amazing and locally made at Cinotti's bakery. Not many places you can get a good pastrami sub, so I'm happy a cool local place opened up in Mayport. I always tell people about it and try to bring friends. read more

Great food, local business. Primarily a service window for take-out but they also have a cute, cozy dining room if you want to eat in. Very reasonable prices for the quality and the fact that it's not a chain. Outstanding customer service - they legitimately appreciate your patronage and are very, very helpful. I love the Godfather (Italian sub), but I've tasted several others and they're terrific too. I recommend walking or biking up if you can because it's at a rough intersection, but it's not that big a deal. You won't go wrong with anything you order here. read more

Saw this place driving around town and was interested. Got off work early and the wife suggested we get some sandwiches from here. I got the pastrami sandwich, it was simple but so good.. Huge wait times and it wasn't that busy. We waited an hour to get our food after we ordered. The food didn't have that great of taste either, pretty bland. I've been here several times and almost always get the Godfather. It's a great Italian Sub! Large enough to fill you up. I recently tried the Montreal, a pastrami sandwich with cheddar cheese curds and mustard. Thought there was too much cheese but that's just me. My friend had the Cuban and loved it! They also have Coke (and some other sodas) in glass bottles which seems like a novelty these days. Prices are a bit higher as they are not a sandwich chain, just a great local place. Parking is limited so be prepared. They have an inside dining room if you don't want to grab and go. They accept cash and credit cards. read more

We are long time fans of the sausage/cheese steak spot in front of HD on Girvin/Atlantic so we were super excited to hear they had opened up a spot with a full menu. My boyfriend and I just had dinner there and were extremely pleased with the food and experience. I ordered the Caswell...tender, perfectly roasted beef, havarti cheese and the house creamy Italian were amazing together. Bf ordered the Cuban...the shredded pork was very flavorful, super tasty sauce....and then we just HAD to try that poutine stuff. Holy moly. Fries with cheese curds (soft, delicious, chunks of cheese) and gravy on top....it sounds so weird but comes together so great. Anyhow, the food was delicious, their area is quaint and super chill, and those guys really put their heart into what they do. Can't wait to try more items off the menu! read more
