This has been my go to place in Halifax for years. You will not find a nicer owner. The mother and daughter team take such good care of you. I moved to Toronto and I knew I was coming back for a visit so I called a month in advance to get booked in just to make double sure they will have time for me. I just left and I stopped to write this. Today I had my eyelashes lifted and tinted. It was my first time doing so and I didn't trust anyone in a new city with it since I had such a bad time getting my nails done and was not willing to trust my eyes to them. I was so happy to see the ladies have now rented out the space next to the original place to be able to offer more services. So here is what I had done; Eyelash lift and tint: I already have long lashes but they are straight and light at the tips. I had a private room and they were careful (like always) to provide private spaces for me so I can remove my hijab. It was so relaxing and she took time to make sure I got the right size curls to allow grow out. Afterwards we were both so excited to see the end result. 100% satisfied. Looks like I'll have to make more trips home. Then I had a pedicure, amazing as always. Clean space and massage chairs. The owners asked me to recommend halal nail polish so she can start carrying more. They have always covered me and locked the door to make sure men didn't walk in with out my notice. And finally I had shellac polish and a manicure. You can see for yourself the photo of the work. Amazing! There is so much care taken with you when you're in this place. I have been recommending this place for years to all my friends and family. Can't wait to see you again next time Tip* please try and book a head. Sometimes they can fit you in quickly but they really want to make sure they don't over book. Had a great time getting my nails done at Su Nails. They are a mother-daughter duo with a lovely clean and bright space. Very friendly service, I arrived a bit early and the daughter started right away! She posts all her work to Instagram under their business name and it's simply amazing. If you're interested in unique nail designs I'd definitely book an appointment with the daughter. She's very passionate and skilled. They have a ton of colours including OPI and shellac. I just had a simple manicure with shellac polish, and her attention to detail was great. My nails are perfectly shaped and polished! Plus you get a great hand massage afterward! I initially got my nails done somewhere else but wasn't happy with the results, so I tried Su Nails based on the good reviews. I was not disappointed. I asked for something very specific that I saw in a photo online and the young lady did a great job giving me exactly what I wanted. I absolutely love the way they look. My only complaint is that it's on the pricier side. Specially if you want to do a fill with shellac/designs on top of that. I will definitely be back. I really wanted to like Su Nails!! I live almost next door and have been looking for a reasonably priced nail salon I could go to regularly for pedicures. I have multiple coworkers who come here and their nails look great and they rave about it. I unfortunately had a less than great experience. I came in this evening, they were able to squeeze me in really quickly and I think I had the last spot of the day at 5:45. They have a small little spa with 3 pedicure chairs with massage features on them and 3 manicure stations. The salon is clean and they have a good selection of nail polishes My pedicure started off ok. The massage chair was comfortable and one of the ladies at the front desk offered me a nice chocolate. It started to go downhill after my pedicurist's child was for some reason dropped off at the spa. The entire appointment consisted of the pedicurist trying to appease this child who was literally screaming, stomping around the spa (along multiple products that said "keep away from children"). At one point the child was at my toes holding his doll over them and staring at my feet. It made for a very unrelaxing experience to say the least. My toes are painted nice. However there wasn't much time put into filing my feet (which I really needed) and not much of a massage because how could she possibly pay attention when she was also trying to parent her child. So I still have lots of rough patches on my feet and I definitely left completely unrelaxed. I understand that child care isn't always easy to find but I don't think my appointment should have been scheduled if the esthetician knew that she would have her kid scream and distract her from her work. I hope that doesn't sound insensitive but I was just really disappointed/annoyed and feeling ripped off to be honest. I will not return. read more

As I'm usually a nail-biter and seldom have nails worth prettying - once I discovered the long nails on my hands I figured it was time to do something about them! So, this brings me to my first manicure at Su Nails and Spa, whom I found when I was trolling Yelp for a place that was handy to work. This mother and daughter duo is as nice and charming as can be. Super friendly, helpful and chatty. The daughter worked on my hands and I opted for a simple square manicure with a natural-tone shellac. From what I found downtown, their prices are the best for really great service in a welcoming and cheery atmosphere. The salon is downtown, across from Bishop's Landing - It's bright and clean, and the ladies of downtown should definitely check them out! They're new and absolutely worth trying! I cannot say enough about this place! I get my hands and feet done by Xiaonan (daughter of the mother/daughter owners). She is UGG-MAZING! She always leaves my nails with a super polished and clean look. She also does amazing designs! Just bring in a photo or tell her what you envision, and she will make it happen. Recently, I got married in Maui and I requested that my hands and feet match the design of my wedding dress. She hand designed lace on my nails to match the intricate details of the lace in my dress! Worst mani/pedi I've ever gotten. The person who did my nails paid no attention to detail and there were spots of nail polish missing. Then the owner had to come and fix it so I ended up with about 5 layers of nail polish on, only to be ruined by putting on socks (I had already been there for 2 hours). I've been here a few times, the second time I got a shellac manicure within 4 days the shellac lifted, so I came back and they took off the remaining shellac of the 6 nails and put on a different colour. I was CHARGE 46$ for AN APPLICATION BECAUSE THE MY MANICURE LIFTED WITHIN DAYS. They also CHARGED ME to get SIX of my nails with polish removed! I was with my friend and the Asian lady there also tried to charge her 15$ for removal, until one of the other girls working there said no it's 10$. Ah, I could write a novel on how wonderful Su and her service is. Her salon has over 200 shades of shellac polish and were able to get exact shade of what I wanted from a photo. They also have a wide array of jewels and can replicate any photo you bring in. This was my first visit. When we started the manicure, Su looked at my nails and decided she would only charge for color change because my cuticles weren't in bad shape, but still cut my cuticles and did a meticulous job with my mani. What a refreshing change from the greedy salons I've been to in the past! After my pedicure (my feet look and feel wonderful now :)) she noticed I only had boots with me, so she offered to give me her sandals- and even insisted on driving me home so I didn't have to take a cab! Su treated me like family. It's obvious that she goes the extra mile to make her customers happy, and it made the difference between nice nails, and an experience I'll be recommending to all my friends. Love this place!!!! I got a french manicure for my prom and wanted something a little extra, so she looked at a photo of my dress and came up with an awesome idea- and only charged me an extra $5 per finger with the extra design (usually even just one little rhinestone costs $5 on its own). This was also done freehand which is crazy to me as a shaky, non artistic person! Welcoming and comfortable environment, overlooks the waterfront, convenient address. I also got shellac at a relatively low price and it doesn't seem like it will be moving, chipping, or changing in any way anytime soon!! Seemed like the nail artists working while I was there were very invested in making sure their work was perfect or as close to perfection as possible, and the woman getting the pedicure at the same time as my manicure seemed very relaxed and satisfied as well. Overall an awesome place and I don't think I'll go anywhere else for my manicure/pedicure needs, even going away for school next year I think I will be waiting to come here on my visits home!! Really disappointed. I tried calling in advance to make the appointment over the phone so I could arrange to have a pedicure with a family member at the same time. The worker on the other end said she was unavailable to talk and pushed me off the phone. The appointment was made via the business website with times as close together as I could get; we arrived 15 minutes early and the nail technician kindly accepted to take my family member first and I sat next to her with my feet soaking as I waited. It wasn't until my family member's pedicure was completed and the other nail technician was still putting on coat after coat of nail polish on the other client here before us that I realized an hour had gone by. I left upset and cancelled my 'appointment'. I think I would less upset if I hadn't made such an effort to book a double appointment in the first place to share the experience with my family member. As a business I wouldn't provide the service of booking appointments and stick to first come first serve if a client's time/appointment is not being honoured. read more
