My stylist tried her best to use boiled water, but she still had to use cold water to rinse out the shampoo and finish the service, which made me very uncomfortable. What was even more disheartening was the owner's complete lack of concern. She didn't acknowledge the issue or apologize for the inconvenience, making me feel undervalued as a customer. I appreciate my stylist's efforts, but the overall lack of customer service from the owner was unacceptable. I do not recommend this salon to anyone, especially with that owner in charge. Ana Delia is the best. :-)…read more This review is long overdue, so where to begin. The location is in a good spot of Boyle Heights. Its small and unimpressive to the naked eye. Fear not once you are inside this quaint little beauty shop you'll be impressed by the hospitality that you receive. I usually come for my haircuts or a blow outs. Because that's all I needed. Since I never colored or treated my hair in any matter (virgin hair). Until last month. On march I decided to make my relationship serious with Ana Delia (Co-owner and overall hair genius). Ana Delia was super excited as was I going to do something new, especially when it meant color treating my virginial locks. The thing that I like about her service is that she really takes it upon herself to know each and every customer, in reguards to what they like and don't like, their professional/career and overall sense of fashion (she in not pushy or intimidating). Ana Delia suggested I get some highlights. Then she was on it. As I cringed the thought of bleaching, she assured me that she wouldn't over do it. So 2 hours or what seemed a small eternity. She was done. I was happy and in love with her work! Ana Delia knew I was worried about coming in for frequent touch-ups. She assured me that I won't havet to come in, not until six months from then. Yay for low maintenance. Its been a month and my hair looks great. I receive many compliments from total strangers and friends. My only suggestion to you is that you phone in to ask for an appointment or just to know the overall volume of customers. That way you won't be stuck reading a magazine or texting (wasting your battery). It gets pretty busy. Save yourself from boredom.

She had me sit in the chair just to discuss what I wanted before anything else. I prefer a scissor cut versus electric clippers or that blending razor thing. Jade went right to the scissors and did a fantastic job and in half the time of my regular salon. But she doesn't rush! The salon can be a little difficult to find. It's on the ground floor of the building on the south side that doesn't face Fiarview Road. You have to drive behind the office building and look for the awning with the name of the salon. Look forward to my next visit!

I too find it very strange that they don't have mirrors in front of each stylist... in fact instead of individual workstations it's set up more like a bar. So, the day I went in for my service, the place was pretty empty. They got me in & out fairly quickly which is good because I had a meeting to go to afterwards. I told the stylist that I wanted loose beachy curls and she did pretty much what I wanted. However, I was disappointed that it did not last beyond a day after the service. When I have gotten blow-outs at other shops, my hair usually stays fabulous for 3-4 days afterwards. So, for me the price was not worth looking good for just 2 days. I am not sure if I will go back next time I am looking for a shampoo & style.

We went with the tried and true method of finding a stylist; we walked up to someone on the street with nice hair and asked them where they go. A Chicago transplant we met said she had tried a half dozen places since moving to Charlotte and Salon Blu was the best. I made an appointment with Robert for a haircut. My sister, who was visiting from Philly, also made an appointment with Robert for a wash and style. We were both really happy with the results. He spoke tome about my hair and styling practices before he got started. He seemed really knowledgeable about hair --how different products, styling, diet and stress can affect it etc. He washed my hair and gave a great scalp rub without being too rough. And the best part was the cut. Granted, I was not getting something radically different than what I had, but I was definitely getting more than a trim. I was really happy with the cut and style when I left and got a lot of compliments afterwards. Wish he lived in New York, I would make him my regular stylist. My only quibble is that he flat ironed my hair and I usually prefer a blow dry with a round brush because my hair is fine and thin and the blow dry gives it more body. But he said he was more comfortable flat ironing. It looked great at the end so hey, stylist knows best. The second best part was the price - $45. I don't know how that compares to other places to Charlotte, but for me, that was a really good price. Also, I honestly usually avoid black salons because of the annoying habit of severe overbooking. I mean, all salons double book (a stylist has to do something while you are under the dryer) but black salons in my experience are the worst offenders of booking too many so that you end up in the salon for hours, often neglected. I had no problem with that here. I was there in the morning and including my sister, he worked on 2 or 3 other clients while I was there, but it didn't impede my time. We were in and out and we weren't sitting around waiting.
