Unfortunately, this review may be one of the only sub par experiences.
We used Style Matters for a few reasons. They were the DJ at a friends wedding and they were AMAZING. Great music selections, energy. spinning, and skills. Really helped make a great wedding, already, a bigger hit. With this in mind and a fair price point, Style Matters seemed like a great choice.
We talked to the owner and based on what we were looking for....he promised one of his best DJs that would fit our needs. We then met with the DJ and let him know what our style and preferences were. The experience so far, was good.
The challenges came the actual wedding night. After the ceremony, the DJ advised us that he lost all our music. Please note this was right after the ceremony and during the meet and greet with all the 100 plus guests. The DJ advised his email was hacked the night before or earlier that morning. The DJ asked if I remembered the songs for the parent dances and opening entrance dance. I advised him, I did not. I said, I may have in my email, which was not avail at the time. Not the best timing when guests are trying to congratulate you right after you got married. Two questions that come to mind: 1) Couldn't of the DJ contacted us before the wedding or at least tried to? 2) Why are these songs not saved on some kind of back up drive. Please note, he lost all our specific music requests: Slow songs, must haves, like to haves, etc....
On a plus note, the DJ did seem to play a steady stream of solid dance music the whole night, which kept the dance crowd engaged.
We thought we might get some type of formal apology from the DJ or owner, since there were obvious issues and challenges that affected the quality of our wedding (missing slow dance songs for the rents dances, the songs we requested for dancing, etc...) After a month, I made the tough decision to share some constructive feedback to the owner. It seemed the right thing to do. The owner responded, that he knew... and then apologized quite a bit. He said they were very sorry and some unforeseen issues happened. The more specific reasons he mentioned seemed very odd. The owner said we would be receiving, a nice surprise, in the mail for our inconvenience. We did not receive anything. Maybe it was sent, but we did not receive anything.
While many others experience seemed 5 star, our experience did not meet expectations. I don't think anyone should expect perfection, as stuff/life happens...however I do believe you should get at the minimum, close to what you paid for. It is also good customer service "to apologize" when things go wrong and explain the "why" behind it.
Hopefully this is one time occurrence/exception and others don't have the same experience. read more
