Everyone needed to know who our wedding DJ was - because he's the BEST! We had Spencer for our wedding in September of '09 and honestly - I can't speak highly enough of him. Complete professional in every sense but also the most amazing wedding DJ ever. The dance floor was packed all night long and we couldn't have had a better time. Spencer had everything under control and gave my husband and I nothing to worry about the day of our wedding. He's a pro and seriously, the best wedding DJ ever! read more

My wife and I could not have been happier with using Style Matters at our wedding! Max DJ'd for us, and had everyone on the dance floor from the instant it opened up to the very end of the night. People were so pumped up that the dance floor didn't clear for another 45 minutes after the night was supposed to end! Overall, the planning process with Style Matters went very smoothly. Spencer, the CEO, was great to work with in the initial phases before we were introduced to Max. Max too was very easy to work with and is obviously passionate/knowledgeable about music. Coordinating with both of them was effortless and allowed us to focus on other details of our wedding. In short, if you want a good DJ at your event, you can't go wrong with Style Matters, and we highly recommend requesting Max! read more

My wife and I were initially set on a band--that was until we met Spencer, Max, and the rest of the incredibly talented group of musicians at Style Matters. They are true musicians and DJs who are able to take a handful of suggestions and put together an incredible play list. They not only drive the crowd, they adapt to the energy of your guests in setting the mood. We are music people ourselves so finding someone that shared in our passion was essential. We are so lucky to have found Style Matters--if you are looking for talent, passion, creativity, and a group of musicians with a unique understanding of what it takes to turn a wedding into a party, Style Matters is it. I'd like to give one more shout out to our amazing DJ Max! It was a pleasure to work with him. He was extremely accommodating and went above and beyond to ensure that our special day was everything that we wanted it to be. Thank you guys! read more

My husband and I chose Style Matters because after dealing with so many vendors it was refreshing how straight forward and easy they were to work with and to get information from. We met Spencer (the owner) and we knew Style Matters was perfect for us. All of the DJ's have a lot of experience and they know how to read a crowd. We have been to some wedding where they DJ's weren't great, so having a good one at our wedding was very important to us. After filling out a survey, Spencer recommended a few DJ's he thought would go well with our musical tastes and personalities. Our DJ was Chris and we can only say amazing things about him. We met with Chris a week before our wedding and he put all of our worries at ease. He was so friendly yet very professional. Fast forward to our wedding day (9-10-16); Chris went above and beyond all of our expectations. The sound quality of the equipment was perfect (not too loud/not too soft). He played songs that we requested but also chose some amazing songs that got all-ages on the dance floor. Our dance floor was packed the entire night. I highly recommend Chris and Style Matters to all of my friends who are getting married. read more

DJ John Simmons did an amazing job at our wedding. I'm not kidding when I say that a majority of our guest said that they never danced so much in their lives. He fused different genres and music from different time periods perfectly. He's charismatic and kept our guest on their feet. I'm so glad that we got to work with him. Style Matters (John Simmons) you made our reception great. read more

Style Matters is awesome. We were behind schedule in finding a DJ for our wedding and I got a hold of Spencer. We dove right in and met the next day. He was professional, calm and confident that he would find the right DJ for us amongst a group of them that he works with. We filled out a very looooong questionnaire. We almost dreaded it, but as we went through it, we found it very helpful for us. It helped organize parts of the day decide on a lot of important songs. It also brought us to Kyle, who was the perfect fit for our wedding ceremony and reception. We met him for a beer to talk things over and afterwards we were confident that he was either man for the job. I never saw so many people on the dance floor so quickly at any other wedding in my life! Everyone complimented the food and especially the music. Pricing was very reasonable as well and I'd recommend this group to everyone. read more

Let me start by saying I don't really rate people on Yelp. We decided to work with Style matters mainly because of the low price, compared to a lot of their competitors located in the Chicago area. Style matters has a system, meet with the boss and he assigns you to the best DJ for your specific taste. We scored Max "Abstrax" and let me speak for both of us when I say " YEEEEESSSS". My Wife and I are both classical musicians, so we had very high standards. Max met with us and ironed out our incredibly diverse song requests. We wanted classical, we wanted rap, we wanted taylor swift, we wanted Coldplay, we wanted the Beatles, and of course Frank Sinatra. He never even blinked, and just smiled at us and told us how excited he was. I honestly was not expecting what we received, I expected so much less, (no offense Max I just had no idea how great it was gonna be!!) I immediately noticed when he started working he has a great MC look and voice to control a room (in this case our wedding) which is no easy task in the three room setup presented by the delicious and Beautiful Salvatore's Restaurant, and over our loud friends. He did everything we asked, and he did it with bold choices. He seamlessly transitioned from one song to the next, with no audible break, unless of course he wanted there to be one for dramatic effect. There was a moment when Max made an incredible transition between some hard pumping rap, to the Beatles, this transition was far from subtle, which added to it's genius. He knew exactly how to keep the crowd pumped up. He often made us wait for the "drop" by isolating the openings of songs, which in turn made people want to sing, and made people get really excited. NEVER could we have imagined how much awesome occurred at our wedding, once we started dancing we never stopped. He kept everyone dancing and excited for over 2 and a half hours; NO ONE EVER LEFT THE DANCE FLOOR!!! No easy task with a dance floor one quarter hoosiers, one quarter business men, and the rest classical musicians. If you work with Style Matters, request Max, he not only is super chill, and an incredible DJ and MC, but he also will surprise you in the most incredible and unexpected ways. BRAVO MAESTRO, PLAY ON!!!! read more

We had Duke as our Style Matters DJ for our wedding and we were so impressed with him! Duke really took the time during our conversations leading up to our wedding to get to know our style and what our guests would enjoy. Day of, he coordinated well with our jazz trio during cocktail hour to ensure that the wedding party introductions to prerecorded music flowed well with the live jazz. Duke can really read a crowd and knows how to blend a variety of songs and beats to keep the party going, whether that is higher energy or a slower jam. Our guests were on the dance floor all night. We would highly recommend Duke and the Style Matters community for a wedding or special event DJ! read more

They did absolutely fantastic work. They're absolutely professional, they don't plaster your venue with lights and a giant advertisement and they will get the party going. My wife and I were a little worried about how things would go: we have a lot of conservative members of the family. We need not have worried at all: Ryan read the crowd and got the reception floor going strong the whole night. He was amazing. We were also idiots and were slightly tardy with some paperwork; Style Matters was gracious and handled it with the utmost professionalism. They know their business, their art and their work and anyone wanting an amazing time should contact them. read more

I had my wedding in October of 2010, and I can tell you that one of the best decisions I made was hiring Style Matters. My wife and I were very worried about hiring a DJ that would focus more on lights and inflatable props than making sure our guests had a good time. I could not of been more pleased with the way everything turned out. Our initial meeting with Spencer was very low pressure. He was a true professional. Spencer ended up assigning us a DJ that he thought would best fit who we were and how we wanted our wedding to go. Our DJ for our event, Max, was perfect. I am usually very discerning and can be very picky. One of my biggest faults is that I tend to complain too much. Max gave me absolutely nothing negative to say which is saying a lot for me. This is an accomplish in and of itself. He met with us and nailed down the tone and theme of our wedding, he showed up early, and played music that kept our guests dancing the entire night. I have been to so many boring weddings where no one dances. Our event, thanks to Max and Spencer was a complete success. Simply put - If you do not hire these people for your event you will not be getting the best that the industry has to offer. They set the standard in providing such a flawless attention to detail that I would trust them with all my events goinf forward. read more

We could not have asked for a better DJ than Max from Style Matters. In fact, we could not have asked for a better overall experience from start to finish. Spencer was extremely responsive from the first email I sent. My now husband and I felt totally at ease when we had our first meeting with him. I was confident that we were in good hands. About six weeks before the wedding, Spencer matched us up with Max. Max came over to our place a couple weeks before the wedding to go over a timeline for the evening, to get our must plays/do not plays, and just to generally chat about the vibe we wanted at our reception. Again, I knew Max got us and couldn't wait to see what he had in store for our wedding. Whatever expectations I had going into the wedding were completely surpassed. Max was AMAZING. He helped remind us of our timing, got us through a slideshow and toasts flawlessly. And then it was time to dance. And everyone danced. Really. Everyone. The dance floor was packed from the first to last song. My husband and I couldn't pull ourselves away and danced all night. At the end of the night I was really sad that the music had to stop. We had that much fun. There was a line of people waiting to tell Max how much they enjoyed the music and all my husband and I kept saying to each other was literally "wow, he was awesome. This was crazy." Perhaps it was our slightly inebriated best man who said it best when at the end of the night he told Max "dude, you rocked a lot of d*cks off...seriously." I couldn't think of a better compliment. Max was the best. Thank you! read more

We used Style Matters for our June wedding and were so happy with them! Spencer was great to talk to, and quick to communicate with. He suggested we go with Kyle as the DJ for our wedding and we agreed! We met with Kyle about a week before the wedding and my fiance and I both loved him. He was the sweetest person and was obviously very knowledgable about what he does. He made a list of things that we liked, asked us questions about things we haven't even thought about yet- and basically made us feel completely comfortable and relaxed about that part of our wedding. The day of he was completely professional and was so great at picking music. He took guest requests and was really good at weeding out the ones that he knew we wouldn't like as the bride and groom! It seemed like he was very in tune to how people reacted to certain songs to make sure to keep guests on the dance floor. We got so many compliments about the DJ! I would totally recommend Style Matters if you are looking for a talented DJ from a company with a great reputation that will ease your stress greatly on the day of your event! read more

This rating is really for DJ Intel (Jason). He did an absolutely amazing job from start to finish. We hired him for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. For each we only gave him a brief description of the vibe we were looking for and he truly delivered! Our dance floor was packed all night and we had many people asking for the set list. Could not have been happier with his service! Communication with Style Matters on the front end was a little slow at times. I would recommend going to their annual showcase of DJs (held at their awesome venue) which is where we were able to select Jason based on what we heard him play. read more

Dustin Harris was awesome! He DJed my wife's sister's wedding so we knew he would be good, but he delivered, keeping the dance floor packed and making sure the evening moved along perfectly. He was very easy and flexible to work with, and everyone had an amazing time. Highly recommend Dustin! (Wedding in Chicago, 11/2017) read more

It's hard to judge yelp these days because people either respond if they are super happy (5 stars) or super pissed (1 star). So, you could say the reviews could be biased. I don't want to add to the cliche's of 5 stars on Style Matters, but I have to say, Spencer is top notch, world class, and a true professional. Out of all of the vendors we worked with, one of the best. He is responsible (responds to all emails within hours, except when he is traveling) and is all about YOU. And, when you are bride, that is super important. We ended up using Style Matters (for DJ) and String Theory for the ceremony and couldn't have been more pleased. String Theory coordinated directly with my officiant so I didn't have to be involved at all. Spencer suggested Noah (aka Weaponry) as our DJ. We were concerned at first since we weren't sure if our music styles matched, but both Spencer and Noah worked with us to ensure the day was to our liking. End result? My biggest fear (no one dancing)...never came true. Noah had people dancing till the very very end and the guests wanting more. Thank you Spencer and Noah for making my wedding uber special. read more

I can't say enough positive compliments and remarks on Style Matters! Their professionalism, fun personalities and easy going attitudes make them a DREAM TEAM for any bride to work with! I am based in Southern California and hired Style Matters to DJ my wedding in Palm Springs last fall... Everyone thought I was nuts booking a DJ outside of the state to have travel in for the wedding, but I knew in my heart of hearts it was the right choice! And it 100% was. Spencer was so kind and detailed in asking alllll the questions to be sure he was going to make our big day the best day ever. After our first call he sent us a questionnaire that was more comprehensive than any other vendor we worked with. It went over EVERYTHING - from bridesmaids, to timing, to setup and what music you absolutely want to hear along with the absolutely not to play songs. I think half the wedding forgot they were at a wedding because the music was SO fun and the dance floor was constantly in motion. And that's exactly what we wanted! He helped announce all the typical wedding things - cutting of the cake, speeches and first dance, but after that it was just a straight dance party! I cannot imagine having any other DJ's and I'm so happy I trusted my instincts by booking Style Matters!! IF YOU'RE AN OUT OF STATE BRIDE - Book Style Matters with all the confidence and do not worry! I promise they will be the best vendor you hire on your big day and they will take care of all your musical details which are such an important part. Thank you Spencer & the Style Matters team!! read more

Cannot recommend Duke enough! My wife and I don't live in Chicago and Duke was flexible and met us the week of our wedding to finalize details. People came up to us at our after-party to tell us how good our DJ was and how impressed they were that he could actually mix music instead of just hitting "next" on a track! He played a wide range of music throughout, including the more EDM/trance hits that we love. If you want packed dance floor for your friends, go with Duke! read more

First off, apologies for the heinous 1.5 year delay on this. Book these guys for your wedding as we did, or any other event, and you'll be happy you did. Right off the bat, we knew style matters was right for us. Spencer invited us into his home where we were able to get a read on his own tastes, which definitely jived with us (RJD2 album art on the wall, etc etc). The process was like that from that point forward: casual conversation about us, him, the DJs on the SM team, and what we'd like to happen vibe-wise at the wedding. He recommended Dustin, who we met with a little while later and he was a great fit. Dustin was able to play the right tunes through are ceremony on cue, and then kept the party going with great music the entire evening. AWESOME NOTE: They take your "do not play" list to heart. Dustin totally denied requests for the chicken dance and Bon Jovi amongst others (at our request!). As much as we love our families, knowing some weird uncle or +1 jokester couldn't ruin the vibe made us rest easy through the magic night. Slight bummer note: We weren't able to use wireless mics for the ceremony, but apparently that was because the venue (salvage one) would have to much feedback or something like that. Dustin installed a mic stand and all went well, but worth noting when you're looking into sounds options with your DJ. If you consider yourself having good taste in music, and appreciate a friendly, casual process with all the professionalism you need, call these guys and get the conversation going. We couldn't have asked for a better time. read more

Absolutely amazing! We got married at Ovation and the whole experience was perfect. Spencer makes the whole process enjoyably simple and provides a one-of-a-kind venue/experience. Dustin Harris is a legend is every sense of the word. He met us a couple weeks beforehand to go over the flow and vibe and killed it! He kept the party going from the moment the ceremony ended until the lights came on at midnight. Words cannot express how appreciative we are to Spencer, Dustin and the Style Matters team for making our day so memorable. Do yourself a favor and use Style Matters - you won't regret it! read more

From our very first in person meeting with Spencer, to our pre wedding Zoom with Max, we knew we were in good hands. Style Matters was super supportive after we had to postpone our wedding due to COVID and worked with us to secure our new date. Max was our DJ and we were so grateful! He is an all around stellar human being and was so kind and fun to work with. He had our dance floor packed from start to finish and did an excellent job with the transition of songs. The Hora length was perfect and got everyone out of their seats. Our friends and family all left saying they danced the night away and it really was Max who created that environment. Thank you Style Matters!! read more

Here's the situation- 14 Days prior to my wedding, came across some SCATHING, awful reviews of the DJ I initially hired. Panicking, as my wedding is 2 weeks away (nonetheless, on NEW YEARS EVE), I turn to yelp to find a replacement. Contact Style Matters at 11:36PM. Spencer responds to me within 4 MINUTES "We've got you covered"..... knew at this point I was in great hands. Spencer is amazing. He immediately earned my trust (obviously), but nonetheless, for a demanding DJ day, did not try and give me a run for my money knowing I was in a desperate situation. Style Matters is phenomenal. Spencer sets us up to meet with our DJ, Ryan a few days later. My husband and I sat with Ryan for about 45 minutes and knew immediately we were in great hands. He is not only a pro, but we share a very similar taste in music. I gave him a list of the songs we absolutely did not want played, and gave him a few recommendations on what we'd love to hear. He chose the rest, and he ROCKED IT! I cannot emphasize how happy I am that our initial DJ misfortune turned us to Style Matters, and we cannot have imagined our wedding day without the phenomenal talent of Ryan & Style Matters. He made our wedding SO memorable, and we LOVED his suggestion for our big "New Years Eve Countdown"- it was a huge hit. His presence was much more than I could have ever imagined- he flawlessly handled all of the introductions & MC moments of the night. Our friends & family (ranging from 20's to our parents 55+ crowd) are all raving about him still...several friends have even expressed interest in booking Ryan for their own weddings. BY FAR. one of our favorite wedding vendors we've worked with. Spencer & Ryan, thank you SO MUCH for making our wedding day not only a success, but a BLAST for everyone. Yelpers, look no further......just go with the best!! read more

My partner and I got married this weekend. Is was a gathering of various ages, genders, sexual persuasions, races... basically, our families and our friends, some of which are in the "business" of hospitality, music, etc. We went to Style Matters because of what I read online. We met with Spencer: professional and easy going. He got us hooked with Scott Yorde as the DJ that he felt would work for us......OMG, Scott was the hit of the night. He took our suggestions ( and my "control" issues!), and made it into the best possible party we could have hoped. Never have I had so many compliments for the DJ! With no hesitation, I recommend Style matters, and especially Scott. I give him an A+. No, really...... A+. read more

Style Matters was such an easy choice for our wedding day music! They are easy to work with and extremely professional. We had String Theory play at our ceremony and cocktail hour and they learned two special songs for us that had me crying all the way down the aisle. They were incredible and made our ceremony truly unique. Dustin Harris was our DJ for the evening and although we didn't spend too much time with him, we loved how well he kept the evening flowing and his positive and fun attitude. He made all of our wedding music dreams come true. From the first song to the last, people were on the dance floor. And that's all we wanted! It was a beautiful evening and made possible by Style Matters. read more

My husband and I chose Style Matters because we didn't want to hear the "typical" music that is usually played at weddings. Spencer really listened to what we wanted to hear at the wedding and matched us up with the perfect DJ. We were thrilled with Dustin as our DJ, he was friendly and really took control to help things move along during the wedding. He played great music and was very receptive to requests (and didn't play anything I didn't like). I loved having him around as we found out that we went to the same high school and he even knew a few people at our wedding! There were always people on the dance floor, from small children to older adults! Overall, we would highly recommend Style Matters to everyone, and I will definitely be telling my friends about them. Thank you Dustin and Spencer for making our wedding the best it could possibly be!! read more

Spencer was the DJ for our wedding, and man did he do an unbelievable job. We had only one real request to ask of him..make sure every is out on the dance floor the whole night, and he delivered. He had a real good feel for the crowd. Just after dinner, he noticed our guests were looking antsy to hit the dance floor and he encouraged us to open it up asap..we agreed..and man was he right..the second it opened up every person in the room flocked to the dance floor. Some of the feedback and comments: 'you know its an awesome wedding when you look around and every single person is out of their seats dancing', 'my 65yr old uncle, due for knee replacement surgery got out into the dance circle and was dancing around with his cane', 'people i've never ever seen dance were out dancing the whole night'. Spencer had asked ahead of time what type of crowd would be at the wedding, i.e age, etc. I'm not sure if most DJs do that, but they should..he was on point, hitting songs that really brought back memories. I highly recommend this company. If a DJ can mix together my unusual request of Danzig and Cat Stevens..what can't they do! read more

We got married on 10/6/18 and Dustin was our DJ - he was incredible! We met a few weeks earlier and liked him from the jump, and he gave us some great advice about the songs we were choosing, and even provided us with a list of songs to help us with our final decisions. Dustin did the music for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and the reception, and everything was perfect. Everyone was on the dance floor the entire time, and were shouting "one more song!" by the end of the wedding. We made it a little difficult by telling him we like all types of music from all eras, and with only a few "must haves" Dustin hit it on the head. Dustin and his assistant were professional, pleasant, easy to work with, and helped make our wedding the best night ever. I can't recommend him more highly! read more

Weddings are expensive but you cannot skimp on two things; music and food. Though we could trust our taste buds for the food, the same wasn't so for music. We like music and listen to lots of it but hosting a party is a different beast that requires professionals. Enter Style Matters. Spencer was professional and responsive without being intrusive or pushy. He recommended us DJ T who did a phenomenal job. We had attendants of very varied tastes and he was able to quickly find everyone's pulse. In short: We asked for people to dance all night and that is exactly what we got. read more

We decided to book Style Matters for our July wedding because of their excellent reviews. They were just as FANTASTIC as all of the reviewers say. Our DJs name was Andrew and although I wasn't able to meet with him before our wedding; my husband assured me that he would do a great job! He did not disappoint! We honestly had a packed dance floor the entire night! People I would have never expected to dance were out of their seats "breaking it down!" Andrew did a great job of having a mixture of classic oldies songs with songs from today. One of my bridesmaids exclaimed the next day, "Wow I have never seen such a packed dance floor!" I cannot recommend this company enough! They are organized, have a great system in place, and talented DJs. I also personally recommend Andrew. He had a good sense of how to please the crowd and keep everyone on their feet. Hats off to Style Matters and Andrew! read more

DJ Pascale was the quintessential DJ! First of all he was completely responsive by email, phone and text the week of our clients wedding on 6/21/14. Beyond that , Andrew was easy going and accommodating with a few twists and turns that always seem to happen at events . Andrew just said "No problem or your got it". He was intuitive with his selections, and not only was the dance floor consistently packed, there was even a dance off! A true professional! read more

Overall, we had a wonderful experience with Style Matters. Spencer, the owner, was super professional and responsive. He paired us with a DJ based on an extensive questionnaire my fiance and I filled out together. DJ Intel, Jason, was incredible at our wedding, giving us the best dance party we could have imagined. He showed an incredible feel for the pulse of the crowd, and had some impromptu responses to the best man speech and to calls from the crowd during the dance party that were amazing, really contributing to making it such an amazing night. We couldn't have had a better experience overall with a wedding DJ. If you are looking for a great value, with talented DJ's, and a professional crew, I would definitely use Style Matters! read more

As most others have already stated, Style Matters crushes it! Spencer was very easy to work with, even when we changed our minds about certain aspects only a few days ahead of our wedding. Props to him for making everything seamless from start to finish! We had the string trio play at our ceremony and they were amazing. We requested some non-traditional songs and they happily accommodated. Matt, our DJ at the reception, was amazing! The meeting with him was easy and to the point. He had a great setup and, most important, kept the dance floor rocking all night. I mean, literally, the dance floor was always going! I have zero negative things to say about Style Matters and our DJ. I would recommend without hesitation! read more

I am so happy we decided to work with Style Matters and String Theory for our wedding on 6/13/15. String Theory did a beautiful job for hour cocktail hour on the Chicago River, we are happy we opted strings for this portion of the night. Andrew (DJ Pascale) absolutely killed the reception. The floor was packed from ages 12-85 all night long. My feet hurt so bad the next day from non-stop dancing, high-kicking, crowd surfing, and stupid hilarious moves. He was so professional while introducing our wedding party and speakers. The perfect amount of direction, without the cheesy interjections, whistles, props, and dance demo's. THANK YOU Style Matters for being the opposite of your typical wedding DJ's. For those anxious planners (ehh em, me) just understand you won't get officially matched up with your DJ until about 30 days before the event, then they typically meet with you a week or two beforehand. This had me a little nervous, but after some communication was worked out we had Andrew lined up for us and spent at least an hour with him going over our preferences. He played everything we wanted to hear, and music we didn't specifically talk about that was the perfect fit to our mix. Can't say enough good things about Andrew and his talents! read more

All the five star reviews for Style Matters are right on. Max was the DJ for our wedding on August 8, and he did an incredible job. The second the mother/son dance was over everyone jumped up and filled the dance floor. It was packed from beginning to end, even though our wedding took place in a VERY hot tent. We had a very wide age range at our wedding, and Max got them all dancing. I couldn't be happier with Style Matters, and as the other reviewers have said, Spencer is great to work with and is extremely organized and responsive. If you want to throw the best party of your life, they are definitely the way to go! read more

My out-of-town brother needed a fairly last minute DJ for a wedding. I had met Ryan cycling in Chicago and gave his info to my brother. Ryan got in touch with my brother and they quickly got plans all arranged for a Friday wedding. Ryan was professional, prepared, and did a great job with the ceremony and wedding. We received a lot of positive feedback from the guests. I would highly recommend Style Matters and our DJ, Ryan...for your wedding or party. It was a great experience. read more

Noah and Spencer are awesome! We had our wedding on 9/20/15 at the Westin in Itasca, in the pavillion. There were a lot of things we didn't plan or weren't sure how to handle, and Noah was a huge help bringing it all together and making some great song recommendations. Noah covered the ceremony, cocktail hour and the reception. He knew our style of music with just a brief conversation and minimal information on their questionnaire. Really an expert at his craft! We didn't leave the dance floor unless people dragged us off for pictures. There was only one song where I noticed people start to leave the dance floor, and Noah transitioned so seamlessly to another that I literally watched people do a 180 and head back to the floor. If you are looking for a DJ, this is defintely the place to contact. They were always quick and easy to get a hold of and they have great recommendations on how to make it an unforgettable party! Thank you guys! read more

We had our wedding at Ovation on 12/8/2018 which included a DJ from Style Matters! We were matched with Dustin based on our wedding pref sheet and we were beyond impressed!! Being from DC and my husband from Chicago we had a tall order mixing the East Coast/Midwest wedding flow & music types, but Dustin knocked it out of the park! The dance floor was always full and everyone kept talking about how great he music was! A huge thank you to Dustin and Style Matters for making our wedding the amazing party we were hoping for! read more

Our experience with Dustin leading up to and on our wedding day was incredible. He was so responsive, helpful, and a true professional. The music was a huge priority for us on our wedding day, and Dustin took the time to review our preferences and extensive list of song suggestions. He asked all the right questions leading up to the day and made the experience feel so personal and customized. We walked into the reception with the comfort of knowing that Dustin would make sure it was a great party, and he exceeded any expectations. From the moment the dance floor opened up to the very last minutes of the reception, the dance floor was PACKED in the best way! We had so much fun, in no small part due to Dustin's fantastic work, and many of our guests have commented on the dance party since our wedding day. We couldn't recommend Dustin as a DJ, Style Matters, and Ovation more highly! read more

It's quite hard to find a remotely negative review for a Style Matters DJ'd event on Yelp. After DJ John Simmons (via Style Matters) absolutely crushed at my wife and I's wedding reception at Salvage One last Saturday, I see why that is. As I and all our guests I spoke with can attest, it was by far the best wedding dance party we've ever been a part of. During the planning process, I worked closely with Spencer, talking with him at length in person and then providing a detailed spreadsheet with everything from specific songs we wanted to hear to songs we wanted nothing to do with, artists and genres we are into, our desired dinner music vibe vs dance floor vibe, etc. Based on this input, Spencer went to work and hooked us up with DJ John Simmons, promising he was the perfect DJ for our style of music, and he nailed it. We met with John about a week and a half before the wedding to make sure we clicked, and we ended up talking golden era hip-hop and local record shops for about 30 minutes. When I said the dinner vibe I envisioned was along the lines of St. Germain's "The Tourist," and he enthusiastically responded by saying he had just played some of it for a yoga class earlier that evening, I knew this was our guy. My intent was not to tell John exactly what to play, but simply to give him an idea of the kinds of things we wanted to hear, and that worked beautifully. On Saturday I learned firsthand that John is an absolute professional on the 1s and 2s. You could sense him organically fashioning the playlist as the night went on to stay in that sweet spot with our crowd. If a track brought even the slightest dip in energy, he immediately transitioned into something that turnt it right back up, whereas the biggest crowd pleasers got the full-song treatment (no way he was cutting "Yonce / Partition" short on our people!). My friends and I will definitely be regulars at John's many gigs around the city from here on out, and I suggest you do the same. I can't imagine anyone else could match what Style Matters did for us. DJ John Simmons was a huge part of a spectacular night, and I only wish I could do more for him and the business than leave a Yelp review. If you're looking for the perfect DJ, stop here. You've found the one. read more

We worked with Style Matters for our August 2018 wedding at Ovation (if you haven't booked your venue yet, you must consider, it's the most beautiful and perfect space). After going to Ovation's soiree and checking out some of their DJs, we immediately fell for and requested Margot. And it was one of the best decisions we made!! Margot is incredibly talented and did the most amazing job keeping the party raging all night long. Our friends and family and parents' friends (all of whom have diverse musical tastes) were on the dance floor the entire evening! Margot played to our requests, hitting all of our "must plays," but also read the crowd expertly and threw in some fun surprises. After our last song (ain't no mountain high enough), she surprised us with an encore, Chandelier by Sia. The party erupted in interpretive dance moves, I was lifted in the air by my friends, and it was one of the most exciting and joyful moments of the night. My husband and I couldn't be more grateful for Margot and the energy she brought to our reception--you're in for a real treat if you work with her! read more

We hired Style Matters in 2019 for our original wedding date on 4/25/2020 and then had to reschedule to 10/31/2020 due to COVID. Spencer was great to work with the entire time and was very flexible and accommodating for our new date. With all the stress of planning and reducing guest counts and shifting with the times we didn't have much time or energy to put into our "playlist" but we filled out the questionnaire and our DJ Max took it from there and killed it! We had an awesome night and our guests were dancing all night long! I highly recommend hiring Style Matters as they are a pleasure to work with and absolutely killed it! read more
