If you're in downtown Boise, this is THE place for premium cigars! To preface, I am a very occasional occasional enjoyer of cigars... certainly no aficionado. However, this location is absolutely perfect everyone, from novices (such as myself) all the way up to the most discerning cigar smokers. To start, the walk-in humidor is very large and is well-stocked with an exceptional variety of cigars at every price point. Sturman's carries a diverse selection from top luxury brands such as Padrón, Perdomo, Dunbarton, Oliva, Ashton, and SO much more. Additionally, Sturman's has a great selection of affordable cigars for those on a tight budget. I must stress that all the cigars here, from individual sticks to full boxes, are VERY well-priced. Outside of cigars, the shop also has a solid selection of premium pipe tobacco. Leaving the humidor, the shop carries a choice selection of cigar and pipe hardware as well as accessories including lighters, cutters, punches, humidifiers, luxury humidors, ashtrays, handcrafted pipes, and so much more. Just like their cigar selection, Sturman's catalogue of accessories is highly diverse, ranging from affordable (but high-quality) options all the way up to premium hardware brands such as Xikar. Trust me, for all of your cigar needs, Sturman's is the spot to choose. While not as large as the lounges at the Sturman's locations in Eagle or Garden City, the lounge at the downtown location is still excellent. The indoor seating area is very comfortable. The four, leather chairs are comfy and the indoor seating area is extremely quiet, well air-conditioned, and equipped with fans and air purifiers making the overall smoking experience very pleasurable and relaxing. No lingering smoke here! On top of that, there's an outdoor seating area at the entrance of the shop with several cushioned chairs and a large ashtray for those who'd prefer to be outside. Lastly, it would be crime not to mention the store's desk clerk and tobacconist, Lance. Lance is incredibly friendly and exceptionally knowledgeable about cigars and hardware. I asked him what he would personally recommend for a medium to full body Maduro that wasn't too spicy or peppery. He immediately pointed me in the direction of the Leaf by Oscar Cigars, specifically in the 5 x 50 robusto size. This cigar was absolutely delectable and is most definitely my new favorite. Pairing this delicious cigar with the comfortable lounge made my time at Sturman's a delight! Lance was a lovely person to talk to while I was there and his enthusiastic dedication customer service elevated my already incredible experience. Just stopped into Sturmans today to wrap up some last minute Christmas shopping. Ryan immediately greeted me and asked how he could help me. He started out by asking me how much I wanted to spend and gave me an idea of how much a good cigar can typically range ($8-$13). I always appreciate it when a business puts a customers budget first, versus assuming or not even acknowledging that some may have a budget. I clearly had the 'deer in headlights' look since this is my husbands domain. But I was in good hands with Ryan. I came in on a Saturday and Lance was very helpful. I smoked outside on their sidewalk seats. Try a nitro cold brew coffee from the shop across the street. This shop bills itself as the best smoke shop in Idaho. I don't find much to disagree with that statement. With a generous humidor and a nice range of cigars and pipe tobacco, this is easily the best selection you'll find in the state, I believe. I bought my humidor there and many cigars, all great quality. The standing guarantee is that any cigars with a hard draw can be returned for a replacement, no questions asked. Great crew. read more

The best smoke shop I've found in Boise so far. I'm a pipe smoker, so I don't know about the cigars and other products but the selection looks pretty good. They have some good tobaccos. I wish they had some more "loose" tobaccos instead of just mainly prepackaged bags. When I lived in Virginia there was a shop where you could say "give me about 5 oz. of this and 6 oz. of that and mix them together" and they would accommodate. Best humidor and selection of cigars that I found in downtown Boise. They carry a lot of good Perdomos and other well known brands at reasonable prices. The selection of accessories is also good. I buy most of my cigars in Florida and these were only $1 to $2 more for the same cigar in Florida. They had the LFD Bull which surprised me. There is not much room for sitting down to enjoy a smoke and they don't have adult beverages or drinks but there are some bars with outdor sitting areas close by. The sales associate recommended an Illusion Epernay and at $11 it was a pretty sad, very mediocre cigar. It reminded me of a fake Cuban. I did tell him I was from out of town. The take away is buy what you know but don't take their recommendations. Otherwise this is probably the best one can do in Boise. read more

I agree with (at least three) other Yelpers. Sturman's is the ONLY place in Boise to buy tobacco. In my experience, employees have always been friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. As something of a newbie cigar smoker, I really, really appreciate the table in the middle of the walk-in humi; it features awesome cigars at very affordable prices, making it my go-to every time. Plan to bring my father in-law, the connoseiur, here the next time he's in town. I'd say you could do much worse, but in Boise, is there really any better? Not that I've found. I was one of the coolest experiences I've had walking into a store on something I have not the faintest idea about. We had some friends coming into town for the holiday weekend who are cigar connoisseurs and we thought it would be fun to surprise them with a little assortment. But where to go when you know nothing about it?? Why Yelp of course!! After visiting Sturman's Smoke Shop I can plainly see why they have such a high rating on Yelp. Ryan who is a second generation owner knows his stuff and he was all to happy to show us around and help to explain this new world to us. He took us to the humidity room and explained everything from A to Z. He had some great suggestions and works with your budget which I think we ended up breaking the budget but our fault not his. Hahaha. He also helped us to navigate the flavored cigars and noted to me which ones his wife liked best and in order of preference!! Hello can you say chocolate mocha latte flavored???
