Toy Box Studios - Video still from a recent wedding film

So, I took a look at their website and instantly fell in love with their work. Their wedding story videos go beyond simply showing you each part of the day. Somehow they always find a way to convey a story in the day's footage that tugs at your heart strings. Besides our final video, which my wife and I have viewed way too many times already, I would say that the best thing about TBS is that Ian and Mark were invisible during our wedding. They don't get in the way like other videographers I've seen at other weddings. There were many scenes in our video where I was marveling and saying, "Wow, I did't even notice them there! How'd they get that shot?" The equipment they used were unobtrusive in size, but still very high in quality. We can't say enough good things about Ian, Mark, and Kari. They work well as a team and were absolutely on top of everything from the very first e-mails we sent and the very first time we met to the delivery of our video and thumb drive. Our video was given to us sooner than expected, which we were thrilled about! We absolutely recommend Toy Box Studios to any couples out there reading this looking for a videography team. They are worth every penny! Thank you so much, TBS, for capturing our wedding day and giving us lasting memories and images from the best day of our lives.

I was impressed with Toybox Productions responsiveness, professionalism and service from the first day I worked with them! I have worked on many weddings with them and look forward to working with them on many more! They are the nicest and kindest team I've ever worked with at a wedding. The video's are awesome and esp love love the Engagement Video's. As a photographer who works with many different vendors at a wedding, I can truly say its a treat when we get to work together. Highly recommend them! - Erum :)

Warner Theatre - Nutcracker

We had premium box seats with in-seat service, which allowed us to place orders throughout the show; my husband and our friends took advantage of that convenience. Other amenities at the concert hall include a lounge with a full-service bar that opens 90 minutes before showtime and is exclusive to guests for the first hour. There is also a rooftop area, available for select performances, that offers impressive views of the Capital, along with merchandise available for purchase. A quick note for visitors: small bags up to 12" x 6" x 12" are permitted, and all bags are searched prior to entry. We came to see Brit Floyd, and everything about the experience was exceptional--the service, the acoustics, the laser and screen visuals, and the intimate feel of the venue.

The theater itself is beautiful--its decor always gives me a jazz-era renaissance vibe that adds to the atmosphere. Recently, I came to see Lalah Hathaway and Robert Glasper, and while the show itself was great, the acoustics for live music were unfortunately not. From where I was seated, it was difficult to clearly hear the vocals, which took away from the performance. The venue itself is stunning and has hosted some memorable shows for me, but based on this experience, it seems better suited for theater and dance performances than for certain live music concerts. Despite the sound issues, I still enjoyed the show as much as I could and would return for the right performance.

The brick exterior coupled with the large white-walled interior provided the perfect "blank canvas" to backdrop our event. We hosted nearly 100 people and had plenty of room for a live band and bar. The reason this review earned three stars was because of venue management. An important aspect of North Hall is that they will not let you do any setup prior to the event unless you pay per hour. As an example: our event started at 5pm and we had to pay 500$ more to start setup at 3pm. The real issue arose when we were informed that we could not leave anything in a closet or kitchen in order to make the "day-of" prep easier. Management allowed absolutely nothing from entering or remaining in the space despite there being no event prior to our reception. On a positive note, the two hour setup window provided a testament to how amazing our vendors were; they created a beautiful space with no help from North Hall. The management induced plenty of undue stress by being unclear of what permits were needed for the event. They went on to remind us with little time to prepare. This issue manifested itself one week prior to our wedding day, where our wedding coordinator, my wife, and myself scrambled to get permits for food, alcohol, etc. Overall, North Hall is truly lovely, but future customers should be aware that this venue is fortified by the bureaucracy of Washington D.C. Much like your local trip to the DMV, illogical policies and the lack of regard for the individual reign supreme. Weddings are stressful and emotional, no one should have to deal with the inefficiencies of government and the shortcomings of bureaucrats on their special day.

We chose the North Hall because of the brick exterior, urban feel and large space -- big enough for 200 people. Weddings can be expensive and after an exhausted search we found that the North Hall was the best option. We are so glad we chose to host our wedding reception here! I would recommend this place for any business or social function. A few side notes: The parking was not a problem and the staff was extremely helpful. The bill is in some what of an a la cart format so try to get ALL the fees up front. Be sure to stick to the allotted timeframe so you don't have extra rental hour fees. Go with the bulb lighting!
