The first thing of note to me was the owner, Nico greeted me before my session with the sound engineer to see what my goals were and gave me a quick run-down on the talents of the sound engineer as well as the various services Sweet Spot offered. My session with the sound engineer (Leif) went very well and afterwards Nico was there again...following up with me to ensure I had a great studio experience and making himself readily available if I had any questions or needed assistance. Just a first class guy! From the initial experience with the sound engineer and Nico I decided I wanted to do my entire project at Sweet Spot Studio. Unfortunately the sound engineer I was working with was not available for further sessions-due to life circumstances.... Enter Nico to save the day! He understood how important my project was to me and assured me he would find me the right sound engineer/producer to compliment my project. Naturally I was skeptical at first, but went along with it. A couple days later Nico came back and introduced me to a another sound engineer on his team by the name of Will Park. He explained to me Will's music background and why he would be great for what I wanted to accomplish. Since that introduction to present I have had countless sessions at Sweet Spot Studio...If I had to use only one word to describe working with Will, I say it has been 'Epic'. Will has a very warm personality, is a consummate professional, great communicator, educator, whose music IQ and creativity cannot be overstated. I swear working with Will at times, it almost felt as if we were doing a group album. I say this because he was genuinely just as passionate and meticulous about my project as me! Every recording and mixing session there was great two way communication. I deeply valued his willingness to provide me with constructive feedback and advice in real time about things I should consider to enhance my music and give me the sound I was looking for. Recently in March, I moved to Long Beach, CA. However, I continued forward with my project. Will and I communicated on almost daily basis and he was able to make the needed revisions. He has a very simple and efficient set up with lights and sound systems. What was really impressive for us were the music videos that he played that went with the music. Once we saw that and saw/heard his transitions we knew he was the DJ we wanted. We had an unusual theme for our wedding, we did a costume theme "Talk Nerdy to Me" and Paul was not only happy to work with us, but he also had some awesome ideas on how to truly make it our own. With the video screen package, he was able to do movie/you tube clips and a slide show. When it came to getting strange and unusual music, Paul was able to do it with no issues. We asked for quite a few songs that were not in his database including traditional Chinese and Estonian Country music and he was able to get it with no issues. His online planning system made it really easy for us to put our Ceremony and Reception plan together. All of my guests LOVED the music choices. Part of it was our doing in putting together a song list, and part of it was Paul reading the party and playing accordingly. He even accommodated my niece's request for the Hokie Pokie. He even let our friend take the reigns and do a couple songs! Paul never felt like our friend was stepping on his toes and we really appreciated that he let us do that. Paul kept the party going from the beginning. I've had so many people since the end of our wedding telling me how great our DJ was. We had a weird mix of twenty somethings and sixty somethings with not much in between. Even still, Paul was able to judge the crowd and keep people dancing. I don't think there was a second all night long that people weren't all over the dance floor! His online portal is very straight forward and easy to use. I was able to put in many details and everything we wanted to hear was played at our wedding. Paul is also not one of those DJs that keeps interrupting songs to talk. He knew when it was appropriate to interject and when it wasn't. My husband commented that this was one of his favorite things about Paul: his professionalism on and off the dance floor.
