Jen Nation is one of the best hairstylists I have been too!!!!!! I had the same hairstylist for 5 year but what worked for 20 year old scenester me wasnt working for 25 year old professional me, and she consistently was missing the mark. I went to Jen after expressing my displeasure towards my old stylist and she just got it. Jen listened to what I wanted, what I liked about my hair/ what I disliked about it and pulled all my ideas to one. She made my hair look straight out of a Victoria Secret catalog, and bring it back to life! Jen, is an all-round wonderful person to be around and she just gained a new loyal customer. This review is for Christine. She cut my hair last week and did a great job. But her blowout was to die for. My hair is really thick and long and she maneuvered it more quickly and painlessly than I am used to. The blowout is the reason I felt compelled to end my yelp anonymity. She shampooed and conditioned like it was her calling-I didn't want it to end. After the blow dry she curled my hair into loose waves that I can't stop tossing. I went back a week later for another blowout, and it was just as good, I was a bit apprehensive that the blowout wouldn't be as soft and perfect the second time around, but was delighted when it turned out exactly as it did the first time she did it, which meant to me it was skill and not luck or a fluke good hair day. I love going to salon x to have my hair done by Christine A. She is very loving and kind, understanding, friendly, sweet. She understands how I want my hair and it always comes more amazing then I would of thought of. I will not go to anyone else even if I have to drive a hour or more to have my hair done by her. I have never had a hair stylist that understands my hair (thick wavy) and how I like, but she is just amazing and will do your hair just the way you want it. (You can bring in a picture you like and she can also do that if you like or you can let her know how you want your hair and you will be happy and amazed how good it comes out.) #1 hair salon to go to! Christine is the absolute best! This year was my first time going to salon X and although I live in Fremont and its in San Ramon, I will totally drive that distance just for them. Great customer service, fun, interactive stylists, clean well kept salon and prices are great for the results you get. What's not to love! My hair stylist is Christine and she is the best. She puts up with me and all the crazy colors to do to my hair and every end result is to perfection. I know I have wrote a review here before but yesterday I tried something for the very 1st time. Michaella did a facial not only on my face but my back as well. I am currently pregnant and i'm having breakouts everywhere due to hormones. This morning i woke up and my back was SO SO SO much better than it has been. It's been red for the past 3 months. We decided to continue with these since it really worked. She did the same on my face and I feel like I actually have some sort of moisture back into my skin. I usually love the cuts I get from here but the last one I got made me furious. I specifically asked for no layers and I was given layers anyway. Now my head looks like an onion. I usually would have kristie(who's usually awesome) but I had a different one this time and I literally cried after I saw that short outer parts of my hair. I have been to this salon before with another stylist. But when I called to make an appointment with her , she was booked. No big deal. After all I was willing to try out another stylist. So I went ahead and read reviews of the stylist in that salon. Although I wasn't set with a specfic person when I called. But I was happy when the receptionist scheduled me with....ROXANNE. SHE IS AMAZING !!! The BEST thing I love about her is she really listen to what I wanted. I was happy that she really understood my explanation very well. SUCH A GREAT GAL !! I showed up for an appointment I scheduled only to find out someone dropped the ball and actually didn't schedule me in the books, no problem, I waited about , 20 minutes until Patricia took me in. I was really nervous about getting my hair cut by someone new, (my hair was down to my waist line) but Patricia really listened to what I wanted and did a fabulous job!! I read the other reviews and chose my hair dresser wisely. I had my son's hair cut plus a couple of chunky highlights in the front by Kim Ruiz. She did the most amazing job, everything that I could have asked for. It's the best cut he's ever had. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because she charged $85, which I think is waaaaaaay too much for a 7 year old boy's short hair. Again she did a fantastic job and I would highly recommend her for a trendy look if you can afford her. Unfortunately we probably won't be able to go back because of the price. read more

Jenna is the BEST stylist ever! I've never been happier with my hair. I'm a natural blonde and super picky about my color and Jenna gets that; she's a blonde's dream (I'm sure other hair colors too). I've been looking for the perfect person to do my hair, who actually understands what I want, and have finally found her! I will never go to anyone else again. I love the way she can take me from a light blonde in late spring and through summer to a fabulous (still very blonde) gradual fall look with a touch of darker blonde mixed in and always looks very natural. Jennifer is the only person that I will trust with my hair. I live in SF and still make the drive to San Ramon whenever I need a trim. I have been going to her for years, and whenever I feel a bit lazy, and decide try a place nearer to home, I'm always sorry. I end up paying way to much for a crappy haircut. My sister, who introduced me to her, currently lives in New Zealand, and whenever she is coming to visit, the first thing she does is make an appt to see Jennifer. Soooo I should probably start off by saying how utterly petrified I was to try and find yet again, another stylist that would hopefully do what I wanted. Before Salon X, I had gone to the same person for almost 12 years. So, naturally, once I moved out to the Bay I had to find someone to try and at least come close to what I had gotten done in the past. FAIL. Big time. Took almost 2 years, 3 different stylist and numerous "fix it" visits until I finally booked an appointment at Salon X. (I'm still upset at how long it took me to call this place considering it's literally down the street from me.) Anywho- First time I called the lady that answered listened to my long story about how hard of a time I've had, and how scared I was to try someone else again. She gave me recommendations but told me she'd have to call me back with a scheduled appointment, most likely for next week. Well, she ended up calling me the very next day, and to my surprise, getting me an appointment the following day with one of the owners of the Salon-Patty (or Patricia). Ok, I'll try to wrap this up, but to say the least, my result was incredible. My issue the entire time has been stylist being so scared of getting my highlights to a light blonde since my hair is naturally a pretty dark brown. Even though I had been doing this same thing to my hair for quite awhile, no one would trust me. Patty listened to what I wanted, specifically what color of blonde I wanted. Because, let's me honest, it's all about the blonde-am I right? :) Not an ounce of brassiness-just beautiful. She then cut it based on what was needed while keeping my length desires in mind. I was and still am a happy camper. Scheduled my next appointment while I was there, and I honestly don't see myself going anywhere else. She was very welcoming and personable. She'll give you her expert opinion but will listen to what you want and then double check and explain what she was doing during the whole as the process. I've been coming to Salon X for over six years and can't imagine ever going anywhere else. I have moved since I began going to Stacy and now drive 45 minutes but I don't care! She is hands down the best stylist on the planet and I have told her several times that if she ever moves I will have to follow her and uproot my entire family. My husband calls her "The Master" and says he loves haircut day because his wife always comes home more beautiful than when she left. Aww... The receptionist, Cody, is absolutely amazing and I am always impressed with her professionalism. She is always friendly, polite, helpful, and does whatever she can to squeeze me into Stacy's schedule. I truly think she's one of the best customer service reps I've come across in any business. The entire staff is friendly and professional. I arrived today and although Cody wasn't at the desk when I got there, 3 other stylists asked me if I had been taken care of. They have a pitcher of lemon water and every magazine you can imagine waiting in the lobby area. Products that are for sale include Bumble & Bumble, Redken, GHD and other top of the line salon brands. It is a very clean and stylish salon - the stylists move stations every month so it's kind of fun to sit in a different part of the salon each time. I will NEVER go anywhere else - the service, the staff, and the outstanding haircuts and color I've been getting for over six years are proof that Salon X is the best salon in the East bay. read more

He was so patient listening to all my ideas for the style, took the time to explain everything back to me to make sure we were on the same page. He was super friendly and fun. Came here for deep conditioning my hair. The regular condition is 35, intense deep conditioning is 45, according to the hairdresser it helps bonding the moist into the hair and it will last at least a few months. I picked 45 dollars one. After she washed my hair, she left some conditioner on my hair twice and washed it away, then blow dry my hair. Guess what, it didn't work, my hair felt the same as before. Actually my leave in conditioner works better than this intense deep conditioner. The service is good but not the intense deep conditioner. read more

Patricia was my hair adviser and she has some attitude, I always go there on time and always had to wait for like 20 to 30 mnts and one day I was only a minute late and I called from parking lot and told the rep that I am in parking lot and will be in the salon in one minute and that girl asked Pat and told me that she can't take me and she wants me to reschedule the appointment but I requested her that I needed to see her today but she said she can't. I found Salon X while at a doc appt via the Yelp app on my iphone. Loved the reviews so I called and they fit me in right away! I've had horrible experiences with haircuts and I've been hesitant since. I took a leap of faith and I'm not disappointed at all. In actuality, I'm happy, pleased, and can breathe a big sigh of relief! I had Jenna today. She was sweet and was easy to hold a conversation with. She wasn't a product pusher, although she did recommend certain products because she really believed they would help my hair but when I went to pay, nothing was mentioned about it. Sweet!! They also gave me coffee when I got there! I felt bad cuz they saw me so fast after I got seated that I didn't even get to drink it!! The service was wonderful and the haircut came out great (I got long layers). Jenna listened to everything I had to say and if I was annoying, didn't make it seem like she was annoyed. :) Not to end with a damper but wanna bring up some "meh" points. 1) my bangs aren't as great ... Doesn't help that I couldn't really tell her what I wanted. 2) cost = $60+ with tip... For a student's budget, that's rough. But all in all, Great experience! I'd definitely come back!
