I found Hair by Julianne Cho and was booked with Sumi, and I'm so glad I trusted her! Sumi was incredibly sweet, patient, and attentive throughout the entire appointment. She actually recommended a softer, wavier perm, but I kept insisting I wanted it curlier (lol). She listened to exactly what I wanted while still giving me honest professional advice, which I really appreciated. She also recommended getting a haircut beforehand, and I'm SO glad I listened. I have really thick hair with a lot of density, and she spent about 40 minutes cutting it. She didn't rush at all and was so meticulous. She removed just enough weight while keeping my length, added beautiful long layers, and gave my hair so much more movement and dimension. The perm came out exactly how I was hoping! My hair feels so much lighter, the curls are beautiful, and I'm honestly obsessed with the result. I drove about an hour from the Valley, and it was 100% worth it. Parking was easy, the salon was clean and adorable, and they even had snacks and drinks for clients. Overall such a great experience, and I wouldn't hesitate to make the drive again. Thank you, Sumi!

I cannot say enough good things about this salon and Jennifer!!…read more I requested a same day appointment as I had botched hair extensions put in at another salon the day before. Jennifer agreed to accommodate me and even stayed after hours to work on me. She assessed my hair and decided what to do (we ended up removing 50% of the extensions -- the previous salon had added too much hair so she could charge me for more hair, which was one of the reasons I ended up looking like I was wearing a wig). Jennifer cut the width of the extensions and replaced them at the most natural position for my head shape, and blended everything together seamlessly. Jennifer, you are amazing!!! Thank you so much. I will definitely be back!

Through the non-profit "Children with Hair Loss" Du Japon Hair Club was vetted for donations and is the only approved salon in the Los Angeles area. I met Yuki, who owns and operates this salon and also one of the best stylists I've had in my years of barbers. She is so nice and explained the process of the donation and also provided guidance on selecting the best hair cut for me. After looking at a few photos, I decided to go with a moderate cut to ease back into the general population. I was so happy with the results and would recommend Yuki to any of my friends. She will only take appointments and is the busiest during the weekend. I would recommend calling well in advance for your appointment, as she works generally towards the end of the week through the weekend.

Yuki should have warned me that my hair was too fine for this process instead of taking my money to ruin my hair. If she is so experienced and so great she should have known better and know that the process she was doing would ruin my hair. This is my warning to others that are going here to have straightening done. Don't rely on her to tell you it's not right for your hair. To top it off when I called to tell her she did not apologize, she did not act as though she felt bad her response was not caring at all. Not to mention she didn't offer any advice or a refund. Now it will take me years to get my hair healthy and I'm so upset.

It was my first wavy/curly haircut with specialists and I was lucky enough to meet Anya, who understands curly/wavy hair and the trial and error that comes with it. She asked questions to learn more about what I was looking for, and delivered! My hair has so much volume and personality with a flattering style for my face frame, and it's practical enough for me to work with on busy days. I mentioned some scalp concerns to Anya (who is a scalp specialist!) and was provided with information and possible solutions. So much care was given to cutting and styling my hair, despite being there beyond the offical closing time, yet, she did not rush me. Kiki, who worked with washing my hair and providing me with a blowout, provided explanations to products used and why. I was ready to fall asleep from the massage-like scalp/head cleanse during the shampoo stage. This is the first time I ever talked this much during my time at a salon! I really got to bond over shared interests with both Kiki and Anya. They worked their magic and are supportive, sweet and kind. I think I found a salon where I can transform, blossom and grow with people who genuinely care about their clients and hair.

I'm extremely disappointed with my experience here. I went in trusting that my hair health would be…read moreprioritized, and unfortunately I left feeling like the exact opposite happened. My appointment took around 9 hours, and throughout the service I felt my hair was handled extremely aggressively. There were multiple times where my hair was pulled hard, including having my hair grabbed in a fist-like hold and yanked. When my foils were being removed, they were pulled out so aggressively that I could literally see pieces of my hair coming out and using a dry towel to wipe the bleach off (which I understand is needed) but the way she did it so roughly with zero consideration of my hair health and the fact that my hair was in foils for SO long was truly disappointing. This was especially upsetting after hearing so much about the importance of maintaining the health and integrity of my hair. There was also confusion around the service and pricing. I was initially told a full highlight was going to be $675 while I was sitting in the chair she told me that if I wanted a detailed full highlight it would be the price of two full highlights ? Something you definitely need to discuss with a client before you already have foils in, lucky I can afford to pay that bc I didn't want my hair half assed I was given a completely different price than discussed over the phone. I have very fine, thin hair and not a large amount of hair to begin with, so I did not understand why the service resulted in being charged roughly twice as much. The overall atmosphere also felt unprofessional to me. During my appointment, my stylist repeatedly stopped working on my hair to use her phone. At one point, I heard her yelling at her nanny to "stop F Bomb calling and texting." Personal situations happen, but hearing that during such a long and expensive appointment made me uncomfortable defintley didn't feel like a luxury experience. The most upsetting part was the condition and appearance of my hair afterward. I went in with more length and left with what essentially feels like a bob because of how much hair/length I lost (I completely understand bleaching hair can have breakage etc but as a HAIRSTYLIST myself I watched her treat me hair so harshly in ways I would NEVER do to someone). On top of that, the tone was completely different from what I wanted -- my blonde came out noticeably yellow there were also negative comments made about my previous hairstylist, implying that she didn't know what she was doing with my hair. I found those comments unnecessary and rude, especially considering how unhappy I was with the final result of this appointment between the aggressive handling of my hair, the amount of hair I watched come out, the unexpected pricing, the repeated interruptions, the comments about my previous stylist, the 9-hour appointment, and leaving with much shorter and yellow-toned hair, I unfortunately cannot say I had a positive experience. For the amount of time and money I invested, I expected much better communication, professionalism, care, and results. Never felt comfortable to reach out because of the way I heard her talk to people. Just hope I can give warning to anyone wanting to come

As a mom who has never gotten more than blond highlights, I called Hair with lots of questions. I'm terrible with names, but the woman I spoke to (salon manager, maybe?) was incredibly nice and helpful. Other stylists came and asked her questions and treated her like an adult. Daniel was AMAZING! He not only took her inspo pic and made it a reality, but he also gave her tips about how to style it herself. The sweetest part was he asked what her favorite band was and it became a part of the music rotation the whole time we were there. Super funky and cool vibe for the whole salon, too. I watched other clients getting amazing color and cuts. Definitely will go back! From me: everyone was super rad AF. My daughter was so happy, my wife thought it looked fantastic, and I would easily spend the money to have a happy daughter/wife with the cool folks who know what they are doing and it looked great. Bonus points for having snacks. Thanks, HAIR!
