Julia was amazing - friendly, professional and always checking in to make sure I was comfortable and happy, Ruby was bubbly and professional and made us all laugh through the 90 minute appointment. The interior is nice but new owners just took over last month and have huge plans for upgrading and beautifying the place. The quality and speed of each service has been excellent, and I find their technique to be a lot less painful than past experiences I've had at lots of other spas. I think I was about 12 years old the last time I got a manicure, but my fabulous bridesmaids decided that manicures would be the first stop on a whirlwind weekend of stagette and bridal shower madness. Studio J, located right on Jasper Avenue, is in a great location, although it's easy to breeze right past if you're in a hurry. But don't! It's very, very worth it to come inside. The nice girls of Studio J made us a pot of tea and dove right into a very thorough session of nail pampering (the one-hour manicure). They set the four of us up at a long (marble?) table to soak us, massage us, and paint us pretty. The four manicurists were very friendly, and the 8 of us felt like old friends by the end of the hour. Studio J's polish colour selection is fabulous. I guarantee you can find a shade that you'll love, no matter how picky! The entire space is gorgeous, with fuschia walls contrasted against white and cream. I was very impressed with the entire experience and would definitely come back for another manicure. I think I'm officially a manicure convert - but only for Studio J! read more

This is a little gem in the city. I had the anti-fatigue experience and a deep cleansing facial. Amanda was my amazing esthetician and I felt wonderful at the end of my spa day. The spa is quiet, even with other treatments going on. This is important to me. I felt that my concerns were listened to and treatment was adapted appropriately. I returned Friday February 18th for a massage service. I let Kristy know to go easy as I had been in an accident earlier in the month. She asked a bit about that and then suggested a mix of massage with reflexology. Perfecto! It was just the perfect mix. It felt amazing. Bed was very comfortable as well. Soft music, candles, lovely smell, bed is kept warm. Oh, just so yummy! lol Kristy is the epitome of professionalism. She put me at ease immediately. She is quite knowledgeable and interesting to talk with. It was a wonderful experience, overall. I also love their waiting room. They have this gorgeous vase with fish swimming about. Fish's name is Jimmy.So cute!!! I love the refreshing cucumber water offered. I love how they have little treats for you to snack on, like the pretzels and Werthers! Yummy. I really enjoyed my first experience at studio j. I got the deep cleanse facial with an anti age mask at the end. Their change rooms and waiting area were clean and inviting. All the staff were very friendly. I enjoyed the facial and was super relaxed (I even fell asleep at one point!) I had a slight reaction to the anti age mask - a tingling sensation (I have sensitive skin) but the esthetician removed it as soon as I said it bothered me and put on a cream after to cool of my skin. I've been to Studio J a few times so far to get my eyebrows waxed. They do offer other services such as manicures, pedicures, massages and other body treatments. The atmosphere of this studio is very relaxing and calm. The lounge area is stocked with coffee, teas, chocolate and nuts to snack on while you wait! The room in which they do their waxing has the comfiest tables to lie on. I always feel like falling asleep in them! The staff is very friendly and helpful. The cost of a eyebrow wax is a bit more than a few other salons I have been to but I will continue coming back here for the atmosphere! read more

There are lots of lovely things about this spa. It is a lovely space with a nice lounge. The staff have always been polite and positive. The quality of services, though, has been hit and miss for me. They do gelish manis and pedis but, unless you order add ons, they skip basic steps like cleaning the nail before applying polish - my last gelish mani literally flaked off within a week - some nails flaked off within three days. I've also had two Brazilians there and I won't go back. read more

I went to Studio J based on its reviews: I got a brazillian done, and asked the tech to do a shape. She did an immaculate job, very detailed to make sure she didn't miss anything, the salon itself is very tidy and cozy, they had water and some small munchies while you wait to be seen. Very friendly staff as well! In spite of all this, I likely won't return for two reasons; one, the 'sex' positions I had to perform to get waxed made me feel a little violated, and even with her being open to try new ways, she couldn't do it the way I've always had it done. Second, super over priced. I normally pay $55 with my design in there, and I paid $78 this time around. This place will be a last resort back up since she was very nice and sweet, however it's too costly. read more

I recently visited this spa with a friend. We were both scheduled for the Deluxe pedicure. We were a bit early and my friend asked if she could add on a quick massage. Their massuse was free, and they were able to fit her in. The pedicures were wonderful, my feet are lovely. The are a very clean spa, and use quality equipment. The bathroom are also excellently clean, with complimentary tooth brushes, floss, toothpaste and feminine hygene products. I will go back. read more

I get facials on a regular basis at Studio J. Their product line Skynedor is amazing, and as far as I know they are the only ones in the city that carry it. All of the staff are lovely ladies, super friendly, and very in touch with each individual clients preferences. I love sitting in the tea room and eating chocolate and snacks while I wait. It is very relaxing and cozy. It is also EXTREMELY clean. I don't go anywhere else for my nail, brow, or facial needs. LOVE this spa! It has a beautiful atmosphere, and feels incredibly relaxing. There's a waiting room that has fruit infused water and snacks while you wait for your aesthetician. I have gotten Brazilian waxes at other places before, but none compare to urban J! The room is relaxing and very comfortable and the ladies are so nice and friendly! I did not feel awkward or uncomfortable at all, the lady I had did a wonderful job. I am a huge wuss when it comes to waxing but she really helped the process go along smoothly! The only complaint I have is that she did miss a couple of hairs, but they were in very difficult to reach places. The price is beyond fair as well. I will definitely be returning. read more
