Today was my 3rd visit to Life Stiles (http://www.lifestiles.ca/). They offer chiropractic treatments and spa treatments such as massage and laser hair removal. The building itself is kept immaculately clean and the staff have always been uber friendly and professional. I originally purchased a Living Social (think Groupon) deal over a year ago for laser hair removal. I found out shortly after that I was pregnant and was unable to use the voucher. The laser technician, Jillian, offered for me to return after I had my baby and advised that they would extend the expiry date. Since having my baby 9 months ago, I have come for 2 session, with Jillian, who has been an absolute pleasure. I was definitely a little nervous, to say the least, that I may be treated differently because of my voucher but that has not been the case. They have free parking spaces in the back (so don't pay at a meter on 124th street) and a basket of sandals to slip on when you come through the door. You will walk through the Chiropractic area filled with modern items like stability balls and a trampoline. The decor is gorgeous and quite tranquil! The owner, Dr. Greg Stiles, is a chiropractor and I have run into him several times - and is he is as charming as he is handsome. I have overhead him working with patients and he has an amazingly calm and gentle demeanour. Even Jillian, the laser technician I see, has only had wonderful things to say about working for him. In fact, when I consider chiropractic treatments in the future I will start with Mr. Stiles! I also appreciate that they sell items that are health conscious - nail polishes free of dbp, formaldehyde and toluene. The also carry the Juice Plus line of greens and fruits that is supported by Dr. William Sears (www.askdrsears.com) - MY FAVORITE go to doctor and website for all things natural and parenting! They carry a few of his books here and I also was able to check out one of his DVDs to borrow for free! Upon arrival, I am always offered complimentary tea (and they have quite a selection) or chilled water. They have apples and snacks in their tranquil seating area that also boasts a fireplace. I uploaded a few pics - so check them out! I've also picked up some goodies from their clearance bin for my toddler (nail polish free of all that junk I mentioned above) and some high end make up items for myself. I asked a friend where would be a good place for a massage and she let me know that she went to Life Stiles so I decided to try it. I booked an hour long relaxation massage. When I arrived, I took off my shoes and was given slippers. I was seated in that waiting area where I could choose from a variety of magazines and they provided me with water with lemon. I didn't wait long before the masseuse arrived. I was shown the room which included a little change room area. I was left for a few minutes to remove my clothes and lay on the massage table. There was soft music playing and the lights were dim to create an atmosphere where one could relax. The massage itself was relaxing and calming and sometimes I tried not to fall asleep. The one thing I didn't like was that the masseuse did not ask me if I was comfortable with massaging my lower back but I should also have mentioned it at the beginning. I shouldn't have booked a massage in between the workday as I went back feeling all oily. I did receive a bag of bath salts when I left so I could enjoy more relaxation in the comfort of my own home and bath tub. There are many places to get a massage and I'm not sure this is the best place to go. read more

I have been to lifestyle spa amany times I started off going there for chiropractic treatments and then for massages and I've now been for a few pedicures. I think the atmosphere is really nice -very spa like. Before your treatment you get seated in a nice area that has tea and water etc. Last time I went there for a signature pedicure with a $20 off coupon I received via email Performed in a Shiatsu Massage Chair it included herbal foot soak, dry skin removal, nail shaping, cuticle grooming, light lower leg and foot massage The service was good and I like the end product. I was just surprised when I went to the front and they still charged me $80. I Explained that I had $20 off coupon but she said that they charge 20 extra dollars for gel polish. I have never been charged 20 extra dollars for gel polish. So altogether a signature pedicure with gel polish comes to $100. Although I like this atmosphere more than some of the spots I've been to before I don't think I would go there again because of the high prices. read more

I just had to update my review with another rave! This time I got a massage from Amanda, and it was amazing! I only got a 40-minute massage and have some tension in my back, so that's where the massage was focused. I will definitely be back in the future and maybe try a hot-stone massage next time, or the add-on. What I love about this place is you can add on services to their regular massages! And, as always, the staff are so sweet and make you feel right at home. I love that this place is only a few blocks from my apartment. :-D read more

Nichole gave me a message here yesterday to work on my sore back. She was very professional and externally knowledgable. She knew exactly where and how to message my back to work out the knots. This morning my back feels much better and most of the pain is gone. Amazing. One of the best messages I've ever had and I've been to probably 5 or so places. The spa is fully of very friendly people, Decor is lovely and the whole atmosphere is just relaxing. I will definitely go again. read more

This spa is located in downtown but they have their own parking. They have registered massage therapists. But Margaret has been my masseuse for a while and she has amazing hands. I call her hands the knot finder. I've coupling my massages with a pedicure and you come out feeling rejuvenated. So close to some good bakeries too. Love everyone here. read more

I came in on Thursday December 1st, for a Sea C Spa facial at 10:15am. This was my very first time at Lifestiles. The facial started out great. We were making conversation about our families, we talked about our children, and I had asked for an explanation on each product that was being used on my face, which she gave me. About 30 - 45 mins into the experience, was the glycolic acid portion of the facial. Some acid got into my right eye. It burned badly. I had to sit up, wanting to scream. I kept my voice down, saying "Ahhhh! Ow ow ow ow ow! What do I do?!" It was so painful. Calmly, she said, "Let's do an eye rinse". I laid down on my side, and for about 1-2 minutes she poured water on my eye, while it was wide open, to cleanse out the product. I had temporary relief, however it was slightly traumatizing, and my body remained stiff and unrelaxed. About 5-10 minutes later, another product was being applied to my face. This time, over my eyes. It would seem that the gloves she was using weren't rinsed off well enough after putting on the glycolic acid, because after she put the next product over my eyes, both eyes started burning just as badly as the first time. Again, I sat up, this time louder, in significant pain and discomfort. Very calmly, she said, "Ok, let's do an eye rinse on both eyes". 1-2 minutes on both eyes, same as before. I just wanted to leave. She didn't change her gloves. the rest of the facial my eyes continued to sting and burn. After this I felt this loooong hair being drug across my face as a product was being put on my skin. I felt it rest over my mouth, and tried not to gag. I tried to get it myself, but failed. I asked if there was a hair on my face. "Nope, I don't think so". When I kept trying to get it, she looked again, and said "yes, here's a small hair". It was not small. I could feel the length on my face. Not once, through this whole experience, was there any responsibility taken, or any sort of an apology made. It was minimized and downplayed, especially for the obvious strong physical reaction I had in my eyes. I'm not sure if she didn't want to get in trouble, or why this happened. When the facial was over, I didn't want to shower, or pamper myself, I just wanted to GET OUT. Because of the significance of what happened in there, I came out expecting that the staff was aware of what happened. I went up the counter, where I was holding back tears. I did not want to make a scene. "How was your facial?". I told her it could have been better. When she asked why, all I could say was "Glycolic acid got in my eyes". She said "Oh...." as she passed me the payment machine. I paid. $95 was paid from a gift card. $80.85 was paid from my Mastercard. I started crying and headed straight for the door, to get out as quickly as I could. The lady who helped me came out from behind the counter as I was getting my shoes on and asked if I wanted to talk more about my experience. What else was there to say? If a customer getting acid in their eyes isn't enough of a reason to talk to the manager or have a conversation initially, I'm not sure what else to say. It wasn't until the owner saw something happening, and other customers watching, that she came over and asked what was going on. After I quickly explained that glycolic acid had gotten in my eyes during my facial, she asked the lady who did the facial if that happened. She was quick to nod and say, "Yes, just a little bit in her right eye". WHAT??? The owner offered me a refund, saying that we could talk more about this later. They asked for my Mastercard, and returned $173.25, $2.60 less than I was initially charged. I'm not sure why, this is just what my credit card statement shows in hindsight, and at this point, I really don't care about $2.60. I went and sat in my car for about 5 minutes, tried to stop shaking and calm down before driving away. I cancelled my plans and went home. I got a call from the Spa just before 5pm later that day. I thought it would be the owner calling to hear about my experience. Instead, it was about my refund. She apologized for having made a mistake, but would need my credit card information over the phone, because the portion of the payment I had made from a gift card, needed to be returned back to a gift card rather than back to my credit card. She needed to charge me again. They charged me $99.75 to my credit card, for a gift card that was initially $95. This was $4.75 more than I had on my gift card. I didn't say anything, I was too upset to fight about it. At this point, the Spa should have taken the hit for the processing error that they made. I never did hear from Lifestiles. After an experience like that, I was shocked at the lack of responsibility taken, concern, and customer care. My eyes burned for most of the day that day. I never received an apology. read more

I truly enjoy going to Lifestiles. It is so tranquil & peaceful and allows me to destress. It is a quieter environment than some spas I have visited. I go on a regular basis to see Ashima for a royal pedicure. For me it is not just about the polish at the end but about the treatment and relaxation that this allows me. Ashima is always very professional, caring & nurturing. I appreciate that Ashima will educate me on products & services available but never pushes or does the hard sell. They have online booking which is awesome & so convenient! I have been seeing Charlotte & she is great! I have had amazing services from Charlotte! My eyebrows were destroyed from going to Merle Norman in the mall. & Charlotte has been tinting them & shaping them for 3 sessions now & they look great! I will continue to go to Lifestiles & no one else for my eyebrow tinting & shaping. although this is my first experience with Eyelash tinting & Brow tinting I will go no where else because of the great experience I have had at lifestyles. & because of how great my eyebrows look. The worst experience ever! I went into today to treat my best friend for a massage; and we did not get 1 minute of relaxation. It was loud, people were laughing all around and you could hear it all in the room... NOT ONLY THAT, they handed us body towels and we found a DIRTY TISSUE IN THERE WHICH TELLS ME, they do not wash their towels. I let the front desk know and all she said "thank you, I'll let my manager know"!! Do not go to this place, literally they only want your money with 0 quality service!! read more

I have been to lifestyles a few times the first was for a fix on a set of gel nails and I was so impressed!! The second was a different story I was unimpressed with the massage I received and followed up with an email.. I was at first disappointed in how long it took for them to get back to me (several weeks) but they did eventually get back to me and refer me to Amanda with a complimentary therapeutic massage.. Amanda was great very professional and took in to consideration all of the concerns I had mentioned the first time I had been there, i felt relaxed as well as very content having all the tension and pain worked out where it needed to be, I will definitely back to see her! read more

I had my chemical peel done with Marnie, she is honestly the best! So patient, listened to my concerns and shared her suggestions. Normally a peel would take about 30 Mins, but she gave me an hour. It felt almost like a mini facial! When I was about the leave, she also gave me a travel kit to control my acne. My experience with Marine was amazing. The service was amazing as well. I first went to Life Stiles because it was very close to my office. That was five years ago and I no longer work downtown. I have had many of the spa services by almost all the staff and have never been disappointed. I love the quiet atmosphere, the calming scents of the products and the professional manner of all the staff. I've been to many different spas, but none have come close to Life Stiles. read more

I would strongly recommend staying away from this place. I went to Life Stiles twice. First of all, finding parking in the area is difficult. They have parking in the back alley which I was not at all comfortable with. Good luck finding other parking nearby. I was very apprehensive when I walked in. I found the place very dirty. I also found the staff quite unhelpful. I heard them discussing clients and their procedures while I stood there - including the clients' names. During my first appointment for a laser procedure, I sat in a chair waiting for 1/2 hour. I was on my lunch at work, and I was very late in returning to work as a result. I received no apology for my wait. Beside me in the waiting area was a woman having a very loud cellphone conversation for about 15 minutes. Usually spas are supposed to have a relaxing atmosphere... For my second appointment, I waited about 20 minutes. Again, no acknowledgement. Once again, I found the place somewhat dirty. Today I called to make an appoitment to use my Living Social coupon that I purchased. I was 3 weeks over the expiry date of the coupon. I didn't realize there was an expiry date unfortunately. They would not honour the coupon. I explained to them that I had had some other expensive procedures done there in the interim, and put off the procedure for which I purchased the coupon - UPON THEIR ADVICE. I asked them to please make an exception and the receptionist said she would talk to the owner and call me back. After no call back, I called them two days later and was told that flatly - no way. I asked again - do you want to lose a good customer over this and was told "that's your decision - not ours". Yes I realize that I should have noticed the expiration date but any business with good customer service would see the sense in making an exception. So now, they've made $145 profit on me for no services performed. Lucky them! Don't walk away from this place. Run. I usually find spas to be very pleasant, but this place is awful. read more
