I get a pedicure less often than once/year so when I saw the Groupon for Carrie'l for a very reasonable price, I bought one. I waited until shortly before it was going to expire so I could have a nice pedi for spring and called to book my appointment. My schedule changed a few hours later so I called to reschedule it for a few days earlier and they were very accommodating and I booked for the 10AM appointment. They took the Groupon voucher number over the phone. From the outside, it didn't look very big but it's very inviting and nice inside. I was offered a drink and had a green tea. Alicia came to greet me shortly after they brought me my tea and walked me to the room. There were 4 seats and the water was ready for my feet to enjoy a soak. It a comfortable temperature and not too hot and cold. I let Alicia know I had a pinched nerve and experiencing some pain in one of my leg's and she was nice to let me know if I was in pain to let her know. There were a few times she stopped working on that foot and I soaked it or put it on the side to rest. She took time to cut my nails, use the file, massage my lower leg where I had the pain, and painted my nails. It was about an hour she spent on my feet. It was almost another hour for the manicure and I had a hand mask which felt lovely on my hands and she wrapped them for minutes in towels. She filed them so they were all the same length and put on a few coats of polish. I have lots of polish at home so I appreciated the pedi more than the mani. There were a few spots that she missed but not really noticeable unless you look closely. The slippers they provide are great and not those cheap thongs. Alicia was really lovely. I enjoyed chatting with her and we spoke in low voices to not disrupt the other customer in the room. She was helpful to get my sandals on and help me with my wallet. She said my fingernails were dry but I wanted to be on the safe side. If all 4 chairs were occupied, I'm not sure I would have enjoyed it as much as I prefer it a little more quiet. But if I was coming with 3 other friends, I would like the set up. I was lucky as my chair was on its own in the corner. I enjoyed my 2 hours of pampering and getting a break from work. I've always been curious about Carrie'l, I live nearby but was somewhat deterred by their high prices (a standard manicure is $62 - that's your basic buff, file and polish, the same service I get at my favorite little salon for $25!) Recently I saw a Groupon offering $49 for "Gel Manicure with Warm Hydrating Hand Mask" - regular price $102 - so I jumped at the chance to try it. Booking the appointment was easy, they have an online system where you just choose the service you want as well as the time and the service provider. There wasn't an option for the hydrating hand mask so I just booked for a gel manicure and e-mailed the salon letting them know and also advising them that I had a Groupon. They replied back pretty quickly and said they had made a note. Walking into the salon was a shock, I have never seen a place so small so absolutely bustling with people and noise! I had envisioned a quiet relaxing oasis but on that Thursday afternoon it was just the opposite, space was definitely at a premium! I was greeted right away and taken upstairs to a little corner where Maria did my nails. Maria was very sweet and we spent about 45 minutes chatting as she gave me a manicure and then waxed my eyebrows. I only gave 3 stars because I can't give 3.5 stars and it just wasn't a 4 star experience - I wasn't impressed with the quality of the manicure, it looks pretty messy around the cuticles and I didn't get my warm hydrating hand mask. Also, I found Carrie'l's services to be quite overpriced for what you got. Everything seemed very hectic! Having said that, the customer service was great and everyone was really friendly. This is an interesting location because it's in a mostly residential neighbourhood. In fact, it is a house. Don't let that throw you off though because once you step inside you can see that it's a full salon and spa. The first and last thing you see is the products they have available for sale. They offer high end salon products, as do many others, but have some interesting lines unavailable elsewhere. Next, you'll see the hair salon. I was actually introduced to this place because I'd won a gift certificate for a haircut. I'd called ahead and made an appointment not really knowing what I was getting into. I was very impressed with my stylist. It was obvious he had a passion for hair. At the time my hair was longer and straight (as usual) which turned out to be his specialty. During my haircut, I was able to observe some of the other clients - most of whom were regulars. There was a woman getting a makeup lesson which was fascinating to watch because the makeup artist was really educated about the products available and how they work with different types of skin. It was obvious to me that the staff who work there are experts in their field. They are all passionate about what they do and it really shows! I recommend checking out their website, too. I noticed that they have a unique leg wax that is supposed to be gentler on your skin. I had heard from some friends and coworkers that Carrie'l is quite reputable (and I even sensed some jealousy) when I was excitedly boasting about it. I was in super great hands for the whole day! In one visit, it was both a 5 star experience and a 1 star experience. We were a group of 3, all getting pedicures. Of the 3 estheticians, it was very clear that two of them were very experienced, knowledgeable, and passionate. The third was less so, but not bad. Overall, the experience was good. Everyone was happy, and our pedicures were well done and lasted. While I'm confident that the equipment is sterilized, and they use a lot of single use items (only used on you and then thrown away), I do have to say I was a little thrown off to find a used bandaid on the arm rest table (the small table attached to the armrest). When I pointed it out, 2 of 3 aestheticians were mortified and one got disinfectant and took care of it. But it was pretty gross, and I had totally touched it, and thought it was just tape on the remote for the chair. Gross. While I'm assuming this was a one off situation/over-sight, I did notify the manager/owner. They in turn sent me a $20 gift card... that I probably won't return to use. read more

I got a 1 hour massage and a 30 min head massage. I loved it. The atmosphere was relaxing and "spa" like. The masseuse was very professional and didn't talk my ear off. I asked what I asked for last time - cut, colour and partial foil. I got barely a trim, which I got barely a trim at full cut price, full foils which are 100$ more and a really brassy colour which was NOT what I got last time. I called and "they" said "they" would discuss it. Which should have taken 5-10 minutes and then told it would be told it would be 3 hours later. I demanded to speak to the manager much faster, they said it would then take 10 minutes. I'm irate. My hair looks like crap. I'm going to have to go get it fixed elsewhere. Their lighting is awfully deceiving. I'm just about going to cry. I got a partial refund which I appreciated but I had been going there for over 7 years. Their service is spotty, they cut my wedding hair too short, I didn't complain because there wasn't anyway to fix it and honestly I wasn't the type to complain at that time. Make sure you ask everything they are doing, they put some lovely pins inn my hair, but at 10$ a pin it adds up.I did get a couple of great perms so I'll miss that place. read more

My regular waxer moved to this location from the whyte avenue salon she was at previously. I only went here because she moved here. I know she is a good waxer and so I decided to take a chance and go to this salon instead. I know that everyone has to have different prices, but I was annoyed that I was paying almost $25 more for the exact same service I received from her only a couple months ago. I didn't find the experience any more uplifting due to the new location. I decided to not go back, not because the service was not good (it always was), but because I could not fathom paying $25 more for the same wax. If you don't mind the extra cash splurge, go in and ask for Shannyn for a wax. She makes you feel so comfortable in you're awkward position and she is very gentle. When I went in for a fifteen minute chair massage, I expected to get that exact service. Instead, I got a lecture about how a thirty-minute lie-down massage would be much better. It seems that Carre'l focuses on trying to upsell customers rather than helping them and making them feel welcome. Even if the massage I wanted was not the right one or not as effective, they should have honoured the arrangment we had rather than trying to talk me into something else. I love Carrie'l, partly because I know Carrie and absolutely adore her and her family. The salon always does an amazing job and I can be a picky client. The staff is very knowledgable about how to dye one color to another and fix color disasters. They are also very concious about not drying your hair out by giving you hydration treatments. There is usually someone around offering complementary hand massages. What more could a girl ask for? The spa is always clean and the staff are always friendly and eager to help. They also carry an amazing make up line called Jane Irdell. It is a very light makeup line. I can't stand heavy makeup but I love this brand. It is definitely worth the price tag and the staff will always help you pick out the shade that best matches your skin tone. Complementary tea and cucumber water are always available which is a nice treat while getting your hair done as well there is always up-to-date magazines on hand. The only downside is the cost. Carrie'l is very high end and with that comes an expensive price tag. If I was not on a student budget I would opt to always go to Carrie'l. read more

On the rare occasion that i get my hair done, i indulge myself and go here. The staff is wonderful, caring, and accommodating. They make it feel like a Spa even if you're just having a hair cut. I've been fortunate in not being rushed when i do go because i happen to have had appointments which were not immediately followed by another person. I like when a stylist takes the extra time to make sure i'm content with what's done, and the fact that i can come back in to have it corrected if something is off is a bonus. The building in which they're located is homey and warm inside. The staff is bustling and just the right level of chatty. They offer coffee, tea, or water with services. The only thing i haven't liked about Carrie'l is the price. It's just high enough that it feels like you're owed the atmosphere you're given. It's always worthwhile as long as they maintain that. There is parking behind the building, but be careful there. Many larger, SUV type vehicles often inhabit the lot and it's a tight squeeze anyhow. If you're going to park there instead of on the street, you should be intensely aware of the size of your vehicle to avoid hitting other patrons' cars. As other reviewers have said, tips are accepted as cash and so you should be aware and have some on-hand ahead of time to avoid awkwardness if you intend to tip. read more

Haircuts are always tricky for thin and fine hair like mine. After 7.5 years in Edmonton, I had yet to find a stylist who could do a decent job on my skinny hair. I have tried several stylists at Carrie'L over the years with mixed results. Some stylists simply did not know how to cut thin and fine hair, while others did okay or even good (though not always consistently). And a few who did a decent job with my hair would leave the salon within a year after my finding them. Still, the salon is two blocks from both my home and work, so I kept going back. And I am glad I did because I finally found Renee, who does a really good job every time. I've also been to Carrie'L for various spa treatments. Since Matthew left, I haven't found their other massage therapists to be up to his level of fabulosity. And I felt that the pedi I had done was not the quality the high price would suggest. I haven't been for a facial, but I have heard such rave reviews that I may have to check it out. Overall, I like Carrie'L. And I'll keep going back. Hopefully Renee will stay. read more

I'm a pretty shy person, but going on a vacation it seems just easier to get a wax, I had it done somewhere else and it was frightening and unsanitary. I was fearful because of my last encounter. The only thing that bothered me was the paper bikini, BUT Angelika waxed everything just in case you might wear a thong, lol not in my case but it feels really interesting! They don't charge much more then other spas, ii looked like the spa we had in Cancun, relaxing! I have IBS so I am always on my toes, the day I went in my IBS was kicking so I had to run to the bathroom a couple of times. I was pretty embarred but she just shrugged it off, she was not judgemental in any way. She was very thorough and gentle and it was lovely talking with her! This is the ultimate spa experience in Edmonton. I recently took my friend here for her stagette weekend and treated myself while I was at it. I recommend having a facial and a massage here to really get the full experience of being pampered. Their padded beds are so comfortable you'll think you're in heaven and the products they use are top quality. The massage therapists have a skilled touch and the estheticians are refined in their work. I fell asleep during my facial it was so well-choreographed and soothing. The facecloths they use come right out of a hot oven and they don't just "wipe" but gently move the facecloth about your face finishing by dragging it under your chin in way that's positively hypnotic. Mind you, you snap out of it when you get the bill; but you have to be prepared when you come here. Nothing's cheap. But the experience is worth it, right from the spa slippers they give you at the front door down to the change rooms with luscious creams, steam shower, fresh cut flowers and beautiful waiting room. It could be that I just have bad luck, but I have a had a couple of uncomfortable experiences here. For example, on one occasion a staff member at reception was clearly upset about something, started yelling, and then just took off out the door leaving the rest of the staff, and customers, perplexed. On a second occasion, I had an esthetician who started asking me very bizarre questions during my pedicure...afterwards she asked me several times "you will refer people to me, right?" That being said, my pedicure turned out really lovely. I will probably consider giving Carrie'l another try in the future, and perhaps request a different esthetician and chalk the staff meltdown to an exceptionally bad day... read more

I would like to give it a 2.5, however, we all know the scoring criteria.... I have been going to Carrie'l about a year now. My companion got me a significant Gift Certificate as he goes here for his massage. Truth be told, he is quite happy with the service he receives and feels that the person who does it is very good. In my case, I go for my hair. I get it cut whenever I have time to go, so, no I don't automatically reschedule every 8 weeks like clockwork. When I first went and at the end I was asked, the person doing my hair quickly answered for me "no, she will make her own appointment" to the person at the desk. I have to admit, I wasn't sure how to take it and so I jokingly (but it is true) given my work schedule, I cannot commit 8 weeks in advance to get my haircut. This went without incident the first time, so I though, but now when I go I go through it almost every time when I leave that someone assumes that I'll be rescheduling for my next cut in 8 weeks and I need to say "no, I'll call in". In having to do this, it bothers me a bit as I have noticed that there is an almost "whatever" kind of attitude or a "oh, she is one of those" ...I could be imagining it and am over sensitive....boh, not sure. What I haven't been crazy about is the fact that I have had to always check the sides of my hair when I get home and unfortunately had to fix it myself at least 1/3 of the time since going there. That is, literally trim it so the sides match, despite the fact that I often ask there and most times the person that does my hair does check.... That is, when she isn't in a hurry. And this is where I feel my critique kicks in. Maybe it is because I have the gift certificate and use it exclusively for my haircut or perhaps because I like to try to go in on Tuesdays (they offer 10% discount if you book on this day), I am not sure...all I do know is that I feel like perhaps I am not considered a "real" client more times than not. The person that does my hair is perfectly pleasant and does inform me of the products she is using on my hair, ect. She also makes small conversation to which I do participate. However, it doesn't lessen the feeling I have sometimes that she would rather get to the next client quicker than double (or yes, triple check) that the sides of my hair match. This last time, there was a considerable difference and once I got home I had to trim more than I ever have. Some of you may be asking, "Why not just go back and get it taken care of?" In a word.....convenience. I already have trouble carving out the time to go and get my haircut (I work in the North End and don't get home until after 6pm) and given that, how many of you would have the will and time to call in to say, "Hi there, I would like to come in to get my hair 'corrected' since one side is longer than the other." Meanwhile, I have already left a 10-20% tip (yes, it does vary depending on the quality of my whole experience) for the original appointment. I realize that everyone's experience is different and yes, it IS a relationship you do create with your stylist. I guess I am waiting for that to happen since I don't know how long you have to be going somewhere to feel like they realize you are a "real" client and not some "fly by night" person coming in for the sake of convenience. Will I be returning? I am hoping to.... Hopefully, this review won't impact my next cut.... I guess we shall see ;-) read more

I went to Carrie'L to treat myself to a blow out before an event. I've always thought it seemed like a high-end salon with fairly good reviews. I'm actually a full-time journeyman stylist with 8 years experience in the industry. I thought this would be a nice treat after working a full day at my own salon. Was I ever wrong. The salon itself was nice and my wash and scalp massage was enjoyable besides having water splashed on my face. My stylist barely engaged with me at all. She brushed my hair wet with a large paddle brush and I know that you are only supposed to use a comb on wet hair. I asked for a bouncy blow out so she began to rough dry me. She was blowing the hair all over my face, it kept going in my mouth. She did not section me once and just dried my whole head with the same paddle brush. My hair was frizzy and flat and then she flat ironed some pieces and that was it. I was in the salon for a total of 20 minutes. I went downstairs to pay and they advertise that a wash & style is $38. They charged me $78!!!! Which is $18 more than a haircut at my salon a block away. I really had high hopes and was so disappointed. I love admiring other stylists work and love learning from other stylists. All I learned was what not to do. I hope this review stops others who may not know better from getting ripped off. It was a complete joke and they don't seem to want anything but your money. read more

I went here for a pedicure before my vacation. Amber the girl I had was nice enough, but was much more interested in talking to the other staff than me. She cut the cuticle on my big toe pretty badly and it began to bleed. I dont look forward to getting salt water in that on my vacation. In the end I loved the color, but some of the nails aren't even fully covered in the polish. It all took under an hour. This seems very fast considering that if she hadn't of cut my toe, it would have been over even sooner since time was spent trying to stop the bleeding. The final massage was good. The front desk staff were a little unfriendly. The bad outweighs the good for me on this visit.. read more

OMG! I have gone on and off to this salon for several years. At the end of 2010 I went to get some highlights. She washed my hair out and I did not have any. She said when I washed it the next day, they would lighten??! I washed the next day... no highlights. I made a follow up appointment to have her re-do it. I LEFT THE SALON IN A SHOWER CAP with a conditioning treatment on becuase the highlights were left on too long and were white. I left the conditioner on all night and rinsed in the morning to see that my hair was FALLING OUT. The strands were so fried that they were like mush. They did not give my money back, instead they did conditioning and strengthening treatments for the past two months. Hair felt much better, but still not back to normal when they told me that was the end of my complimentary services because they spent alot of money on me. HELLO! I spent money too... to have my hair fried and then travel expenses driving back and forth every week, and my hair still not what I asked for. VERY DISAPOINTING! read more

I love a salon or a spa located inside a regular house. I think it gives it a more welcoming feel and cozy atmosphere. Carrie'l is one of those spas. The house itself doesn't look like it has been renovated or updated on the outside, but the spa's interior and the quality of service provided here make up for this shortcoming. I have been to Carrie'l twice: once for a hair cut and once for a Recover Touch facial. Both procedures yielded amazing results. My hair stylist listened to my requests intently, and gave me exactly the hair cut I wanted. I asked for long layers that frame the face, and I begged that my hair be cut in a way that make it easy and quick to style in the morning. The stylist gave me what I asked for. I will not say that this was the best hair cut of my life (I am still looking for my one and only hairstylist) but I left Carrie'l satisfied. Recover Touch facial was heavenly and left my skin glowing. Thanks to Edmonton's dry climate, I am constantly looking for ways to moisturize and plump up my skin and eliminate dullness. At Carrie'l, this mission was accomplished. Every single mask, serum and moisturizer used by my esthetician was packed with vitamins and brightening complexes, and totally agreed with my skin. The reason I visited Carrie'l in the first place is because it sells Davines products. Ladies, I strongly recommend you try MoMo conditioner from this line, especially if you hair is colour treated. I had a "hair color emergency" that I wanted taken care of immediately, so I looked online and called a couple places including Carrie'l. Nobody could fit me in that day except here. My appointment was to be in 2.5 hours from when I called. I was driving from Sherwood Park and that is a good half hour drive or so. On my way I had called to let them know I would be 10 mins. late due to driving conditions which they didn't have a problem with. Parking was very tight (I had to do a 3 or 4 point turn to get out barely) Inside it looks great and clean but seemed to be crowded with too many staff. The lady who greeted me was very pleasant, took my coat and offered me a drink and walked me up to where I would meet with the colorist. Thats when it all went downhill. First the lady who would be coloring my hair came over and told me that they wouldn't have time to do my hair that day because they close before it would be done and that someone should have told me that over the phone.!!! Yes! Someone should have. I had someone watch my kids for me and drove all the way from Sherwood Park wasting my gas and time not to mention I have a hair color emergency and didn't want to go out anywhere as it was until it was fixed. She then told me we could make an appointment for in a couple days. I decided to go with it. Talking about color and prices...I showed her a picture of what I would like. She was very unsure of herself and didn't really give me answers as to if she could do this (which really shouldn't of been that hard) and how much it would cost. She told me it would probably take a couple times coming back to get what I was going for and that each appt. would cost min. $200 I told her my max budget was $200 and I wanted a cut as well. After figuring something out I also mentioned online how it says 20% off on Tuesdays. She left for a moment to talk to another worker and when she came back told me that was only good for with a different employee (who wouldn't even be working on Tuesday?) and that this girl wasn't as experienced and that she would have to watch over and help her. She then told me since I was a new customer I would get 10% off anyway. She never mentioned this to me earlier when I was telling her of the money crunch I was in when it came to budget.Plus she just shot down other staff members that worked there, Tacky. After my last bad experience with MUD I started to search for a new stylist. Oh boy, it is hard to find stylist who knows how to cut short hair. If a stylist makes mistake with a long hair at least person can hide it in the pony tail (I think), but short hair - you can sit and cry. And that was exactly what I was doing last time. Since I work around 124 St and Jasper Ave I started to search for salons in this area. Found few and started reading reviews on the internet. Carrie'l was one of the few choices I had. I phoned them and asked if I can make an appointment with a stylist who really really really knows how to cut the short hair nicely. I waited few days and went to the salon. I was greeted by Angelika (I hope I did not misspell ladies name). And I met Jami the stylist. I showed her few pictures of the styles I like and asked if this is something she can do. She chose one style, we went to her station and she started cutting my hair (ahhhhhh). To my BIG surprise it started to have a shape of a woman's hair on the picture. For the first time since I live in Edmonton (let me tell you I live a long time in Edmonton) I have a cut I like it (even without putting my glasses on). I already got few compliments for my cut. I have been to this salon several times and each time my experience is only okay but I love the location and I like that it's in a house. Hair Services: I have gotten my hair done here before with a stylist that is no longer at the salon. The hair services were always wonderful and I never had any issues. They use great products and all staff seems to be quite good. Waxing: I have gotten my brows waxed here twice and this is why I wanted to write a review. They waxed my brows in the chair over the sinks they use to wash your hair. It is extremely uncomfortable. The most recent time I got my brows waxed the lady took close to 45 minutes to wax. I have never had a brow wax that was longer that 10 minutes. 45 minutes in that chair was awful and I had a horrible kink in my neck and will never go back for a brow waxing. Spray Tan: I also got the airbrush tan on another occasion. This is a fabulous spray tan and I recommend it to everyone, however they sprayed me in a little room where the door faces out. I was standing completely nude in the booth when the technician walked in swinging the door wide open. The outer room was full of people including male patrons who all got a lovely look at me standing there trying to cover myself. It was mortifying. read more

I started with this Spa in Sept. 2014. I had heard advertisements that they provided pain free laser hair removal, and I wanted to get my upper lip done. I went 3 times to give them a fair chance. For 150.00 for 10 minutes I would not recommend this place to anyone. The person who provided my treatment could have cared less that I was comfortable (pain free) or not. She want me in...out and leave her a nice tip! Stay far away, it is not pain free and they certainly don't care 1 bit about a client experience. read more

I have been to this spa twice over the past couple of years. Once to get my hair extensions and the second time for ear candling. My first experience left me in a lot of pain. I needed to get the old hair extensions out, in order to get a full set of hair extensions in. There were a few knots in my head and it was quite painful to get them out. I was in tears in my chair and she COMPLAINED that I was tearing. I couldn't help it that it hurt but knew that in order to get the knots out, this process was necessary. The second experience at Carriel was for ear candling. The lady doing the procedure sat me on the bed and turned her back to me to begin the procedure. I didn't know what to do. I explained to the lady doing the procedure that I had never had my ears candled. She then told me to lie on my side and relax. She didn't explain to me how the procedure was done, except to say "Don't expect a miracle". She was european and quite blunt. I was a bit concerned because it is a candle with a flame very close to my ear. I did not know what to expect. I thought to myself that the procedure wasn't expensive so it wasn't a loss to my wallet. I don't recommend Carriel. The staff are cold and of course the service sub-par. read more

I've been a client here for years and while their services can be pricey they do provide great service and often have special promotions. Shanyn is amazing as are many of the other staff at the spa. I've only had my hair done here once as the prices are out of my reach but when I did the service was excellent . The owner and staff are really also genuinely interested in understanding how they can improve ( which is always a plus). I'll continue to be a client as long as they keep on providing such great service. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I recently went to carrie'l for a Brazilian Bikini wax and it was quite honestly the most mortifying and painful spa visit I've ever had! The waxer had no clue what she was doing... Kept waxing the same area over and over agin and the hair still wouldn't come out. In the end I was bleeding, bruised, swollen and STILL had most of the hair down there! Any hair she did manage to get out grew back in a week. Worst of all when I told management just how bad it was I got no response. Do yourself a favor, if you're looking for any kind of waxing service go anywhere else! read more

I visited the salon to purchase some Jane Makeup products. After a not so great experience in the past, I was blown away by Shanyn's expertise. She made me feel open and comfortable talking about my skincare woes. Additionally, she wasn't pushy about sales but instead seemed genuine to help me. Great Estethician! Do you really want to attend at spa where you might have to file a police report? Horrible management at Carrie'l Salon and Spa,1414 100 Avenue Northwest, Edmonton. For my 50th birthday my friend and I went for a mud treatment and pedicure at Carrie'l. Both of us were excited and looking forward to a bit of relaxing and pampering. However, this experience was ruined by the theft of $240. Sometime during our treatment time $240 cash was stolen from a locker. The locker are far enough removed from public intrusion that it had to be one of the staff responsible for the theft. While I can appreciate things can happen, it's the way management responds that makes all the difference in the outcome of the experience, how I feel about their business and what type of review is written. The management at Carrie'l did nothing to "right" this experience. What they did suggest is we contact the police and file a report (which we did). Is this anyway to treat customers? read more

Carrie'L Salon and Spa 11414 100th Avenue Edmonton, Alberta I attended Carrie'L on a recommendation from a colleague as a nice spa for a celebration event. Unfortunately at some time during our spa treatments cash was taken from my purse in my locked locker. The lockers are far enough removed from public entrances and the locker door was left locked up - not open, which leads me to believe this was not done by someone off the street wandering in. As soon as I realized money was missing I reported it to the manager. The theft was reported at the halfway point of our spa day. The manager said she would have a solution for me by the time we left. At the time we left the spa her "solution" was to tell me to file a police report. I was quite insulted and felt like my concerns were not being taken seriously by management as I was not even given an apology. Then I thought since I was a new client and it was cash maybe she doesn't trust that I am not a con artist and I accepted her concerns. I did file a police report that evening. The officer said that he will be following up with Carrie'L Salon and Spa on his next shift. I phoned the spa the next day to let the manager know that I did indeed file a police report and provided her with the file number. At that time she told me that that they are going to change their lockers from key lockers to lockers with pin codes and then she suggested that I ask the police to fingerprint the contents of my purse so they can know for sure who had access to my purse. To me this suggestion feels incredibly insulting and mistrustful and to me it feels like an insinuation that the only way to prove I am telling the truth is if there is fingerprint evidence that someone else touched my purse contents. I reported a concern about the safety of Carrie'L clients and client's possessions to the management. At no point did I demand the money back or demand compensation for my loss yet now my complaint has turned it into the manager's own game of CSI and I am one of her suspects. How Carrie'L internally solves the issue of my complaint should be their own internal issue and not something they are stressing out a client over, particularly a client who paid her entire $409 bill for services, plus paid tips despite having money removed from her purse during treatments there. Apart from the missing money, and having a day that was to be a special celebration tainted, there is also the inconvenience of having to go to the police station to file a report and then the further inconvenience of having to cancel my bank and credit card (although no cards were taken, my purse was compromised and the thief had access to my credit cards and could have written down the numbers). I am not impressed at all by how the manager at Carrie'L Salon and Spa has handled this situation and by forgoing the cost of an apology I will be sharing my experience with friends, colleagues and on social media. read more

Can't say enough great things about Carrie'l, my hair has never been this healthy and long in my life. The staff is very welcoming and friendly as well as knowledgeable about the product they carry. Went here as a member of my sisters bridal party for hair and make up. staff were rude and we seemed to a pain in their ass. It was very rushed and cramped inside. In the end I paid a ton and left looking like a drag queen. read more
