I'm very picky about my hair color and she was able to duplicate exactly what I wanted by pictures and looking at skin tone and eye color. My highlights and color is so on trend and make me feel like a million bucks! Additionally, the salon pampered me to the max. Not only did I get a head and neck massage before highlights were applied, but during the salon washing process I got an amazing head and shoulder rub and hand massage with essential oils. I was also sitting on a massage chair with my eyes covered and a warm pillow on my chest. It was so cozy and snuggly and extremely relaxing! I kept seeing reviews posted about this place and finally, in July I decided to see what all of the hype was about, so I peeped around online. The scheduling process is super easy online, although I don't think all of the stylists are listed. So, if you're wanting a specific stylist and they're not listed as available online, call. The day of my appointment I received a call indicating that Jessica, the stylist that I had scheduled was ill. They offered for me to see Sarom who turned out to be less expensive than the one who I'd initially scheduled. Score! I must mention that even though the cut was cheaper, Ms. Sarom wasn't less than amazing. I'm jumping ahead. It's located in the Chevy Chase area, in the same strip as Starbucks. So, parking could be an issue, but I've always been able to score a spot in the lot in front when I patronize the businesses in that strip mall of sorts behind Louie's Wine Dive. When I checked in, I was pleasantly surprised to be offered warm tea, which just so happened to be fantastic and made the short wait worth the while. So, skip Starbucks before your appointment. As I sat and waited, I noticed Sarom taking her time with the client before me. It was nice to see that she wasn't rushing like other stylists in some of my other previous experiences. I didn't know that she was my scheduled stylist, so that was a welcomed surprise when she introduced herself after she finished up. This is one of the few Aveda featured salons in Lexington. Apparently, all of the locations start with a mini hand and neck massage before your cut. Speaking of my cut, it was perfect and exactly the way that I requested it to be cut. I'd go again. Maybe next time I'll have less anxiety about it.

Stacey was able to make an appointment the next day; I had to reschedule it a few days later but she was super accommodating and chill about it. Awesome. After navigating the one-way streets to find the parking lot (note: enter the lot from Jefferson street), I found the cool house that housed the salon. I walked in and only waited a few moments before Stacey was ready for my appointment. Honestly, I have been wanting to cut and dye my hair for a couple months, but choose just to get it cut for now due to my tight budget. Stacey let me do what I want but also offered feedback/opinion when asked. I decided to cut most of my long hair off into a medium/long angled bob. An hour later, my hair was washed, cut, dried, and styled. It looked great! It wasn't the exact cut in the photo I used as an example (because the photo had different color/hairstyle), but we all know that no one gets the exact cut as a photo. I was still happy with it. And $40 was affordable enough for me for a good haircut (no more GreatClips)! A few days later, I sort of regretted cutting off as much hair as I did (it took a few years to grow it long), but that's just my own fault. Hair grows. So it's all good. And next time I'll get my hair dyed. I also loved that Artique had some friendly, chill ladies working there, with a nonjudgmental atmosphere. Definitely mind kind of vibe. I'm thrilled to have found this place. Artique is my new go-to for hair!

Plus you're downtown. Some great foodie drinkie places just across the street and around the corner too. Loved the brightness of the new place too. Of course everyone is friendly just like always, but there seems to be a newer and greater energy here too! What's not to love?! Megan is my stylist and she's super and her station has windows all around. It's so cool! If you haven't been to the new places, please check it out. I loved it. I had an appointment and I drove to the appointment address that is on my GPS. The address was…read moretheir old address. I would've been on time, however since they had moved and it was not updated and way, I called. They said I would have to be there in 15 minutes, not a minute later and my GPS said I was gonna be 16 minutes late. They wouldn't even take me for one minute after 15. This is absolutely ridiculous, I have been here one time but it's been months ago. I'm not from Kentucky and it is really ridiculous that they acted like that. Get your GPS straight.
