Was so worried when they moved to the new downtown location but it was all for nothing! The new salon location and vibe is awesome! The location is super great and easy to get in and out! Plus you're downtown. Some great foodie drinkie places just across the street and around the corner too. Loved the brightness of the new place too. Of course everyone is friendly just like always, but there seems to be a newer and greater energy here too! What's not to love?! Megan is my stylist and she's super and her station has windows all around. It's so cool! If you haven't been to the new places, please check it out. I loved it. I had an appointment and I drove to the appointment address that is on my GPS. The address was their old address. I would've been on time, however since they had moved and it was not updated and way, I called. They said I would have to be there in 15 minutes, not a minute later and my GPS said I was gonna be 16 minutes late. They wouldn't even take me for one minute after 15. This is absolutely ridiculous, I have been here one time but it's been months ago. I'm not from Kentucky and it is really ridiculous that they acted like that. Get your GPS straight. read more

I wish I could leave a 0 star review. I work in customer service and normally don't leave negative reviews however my mom called me this morning from this salon crying, and that was it for me. My mom went in for a highlight at 9 this morning and has apparently been sitting in foils for almost 4 hours. Not only did the stylist have to remove foils so her hair did not burn off, but she also was spoken down to by management to a point where she started crying. Her hair is now yellow and she is sitting in toner, which they made sure to notify her was not included with the service. When she asked if she had to pay for the horrible service, they told her they would call the police if she did not. I am absolutely disgusted and appalled at this behavior especially from an institution that prides itself on its customer service. Do Not go here if you want to spend half your day sitting in a chair for a partial highlight that takes 2 minutes. read more

Balayage update, yellow on top. Came back for Toning (charged for it). Process fried my hair, turned it purple and green and muddy. Waited for toner to wash out, still was awful. Reached out to the salon for a redo. Went to Amanda. She told me we would have to cut some but my hair was so long I wouldn't even notice. The cut she did left my hair super thick. Asked the next day to have it thinned and this is what I was left with...Haircut by Planet Salon Frankfort Color correction turned into this... The top stylist told me, "your hair is so long, you won't even notice" lost a foot of hair!!!!!!! Fu*jing kidding me?! They should pay for my extensions this has been traumatic to say the least!!!!!!! Been in tears daily for over a week!!!! I have finally found a hair salon that doesn't take months to get an appointment, has great hours and offers great services. I have had a difficult time finding a salon since I have moved up here. Today, I was seen by Tosha. Tosha is amazing at her job and gives great suggestions on how to get your hair perfectly the way you want it (just like that Pinterest picture you show her ). She doesn't push you to add services on to your bill or anything like that. She talks and makes you feel like you're her best friend when you are in the seat. I noticed the other workers were doing the same for their clients as well. To me, customer service means a lot! Tosha worked endlessly to help get my hair to the color I wanted. I'm very pleased with the cut/color/eyebrow wax services that I received. New customers get coupons for future visits and products. I will be back and I'll definitely recommend Planet Salon to others! Update: I drove 35 minutes for my appointment today to only be called and told that the appointment (that has been booked for two months)has to be canceled. This call came 10 minutes before my appointment time. They called me yesterday to confirm my appointment. Not very professional. I went to planet salon in Hamburg for years and stopped because the staff didn't seem as experienced, and kept messing up my hair. I returned November 2021 to the Frankfort location, in hopes things had changed. I ended up getting 10inches cut off, it was curled and it looked decent. Once I got home, I washed and styled my hair only to realize how messed up it was. The curls were in place to hide the mess up. I had to go to another salon to get another 2 inches cut off to fix my mess. Find somewhere else to go. read more

My daughter is 9, she received a wash, layer cut and blowout to thin her hair out. It was extremely thick. They gave her so much attention and this really boosted her self confidence. Her hair turned out exactly how she wanted it. She and I were very happy and the price was very affordable, it was around $30 for the kids pricing. I find the cancellation policy to be ironic. I am not allowed to cancel within 24 hours of my appt. without having to be charged 50%, yet you canceled my appt. less than 10 hours before and I am out of luck in getting my haircut and dyed for a wedding this weekend. I have been a loyal customer to Planet Salon for 18 years (Lexington location and now Frankfort). I live in Louisville now and still travel to get my haircut with you all. I am disappointed that I was not offered an option for an appt. at the same time tomorrow or Friday. My only options I was given were in the mornings, which would not work due to work schedule & travel time. That is bad customer service for a loyal customer of 18 years. Also, since the cancellation was less than 10 hours before the appt... an extra effort should have been made to make this right. I will no longer be getting my hair done at Planet Salon and I will be happy to share my experience with others. read more

Great salon - especially for Frankfort. The main location is in Lexington and several of the stylist travel between both stores. This is a Bumble and Bumble salon - a great product line, especially for curly hair. I appreciate that the stylist do not try push their product lines. I've had my hair trimmed by 3 different stylists and my husband the same. I really like the pricing between the levels. Karie and Kelly are awesome! (Karie specializes in curly hair.) The girl at the front desk is very hospitable and friendly. I had my eye brows waxed here once before, a little more expensive and average results. I have never met a stylist so committed to education and she stays on top of all the new products and treatments to give you the best option! She is well versed in color and has been able to achieve colors I though would never be possible for my naturally black hair. I can't remember the name of the lady who did my hair (I think Heather) but I'm very happy with it. I just moved here and came here on a whim. The stylist listened to what I wanted and made sure she understood my request and I'm happy about that. Please, please make an effort to put something around clients' hair lines to keep color from getting all around our faces! When I got in my car I was a mess and had to go back in to see if someone could remove it. My visit cost over $150 so this is not too much to ask. read more

The modern atmosphere makes it feel really fancy (which is why it is so expensive). I wanted to get my hair cut and she said it would be $50. No way in hell! Had a horrible color done on my hair. When I went to have it fixed I asked if they cannot make it look like the picture like they said they could the first time then I'd rather them tell me than waste another 4 hours and damage processing my hair. The manager told me she could make it look like the picture only the highlighted sections wouldn't be exactly the same. I understood you can't get it exact but she used this as justification for it not looking like the picture at all. I politely asked to talk to the owner because at this point I had been charged around $400 for a color that I wish I never would have gotten. The manager said she would have the owner call me and has dodged my calls and not called me back since. She unfortunately turned out to be very dishonest. read more

My son is at the age where he is very self conscious about how he looks and luckily we found Justin. I'm not big on boys having long hair and Justin is able to talk to my son and work out what is most appropriate and give him a cool look so that when he comes out he feels like a million bucks. I first came to Planet Salon at the Hamburg location to get a manicure. One of the stylists did my nails and she did a great job. I had moved to town recently and was still trying to find a hairstylist that I really liked. So I booked Jessica to do my hair. I loved what she did so I started seeing her on a regular basis. At the time, I was living out in Masterson Station and driving across town to Hamburg was kind of a pain so when they opened this one in Frankfort and Jessica moved out there as part owner, I was more than happy to follow her out there. The drive was about the same, a prettier drive, and parking is way better. Since then, I've now moved out to the Hamburg side of town but I still drive out to Frankfort to have Jessica do my hair. She does my cut and color. I've also had another gal do my eyebrows as a tweeze only. It's the only time I've had my brows done that didn't wreak havoc on my skin. And I've tried waxing several times, as well as threading. Every time, I would get horrible bumps above and below my brows that would last for weeks. So when I was getting my hair done, I asked if they did tweezing only and they said yes. No bumps!! Yay! I can't remember how much they charged but it was minimal, like $10 or $15. She did it while my color was processing. So easy and accomodating. Now my husband gets his hair cut by Jessica. It's a great salon with a wonderful atmosphere. It's right off the Interstate so it's not a bad drive from Lexington, at all. Just a straight shot. read more

I was referred to this location by a good friend of mine. Mainly because this is the only place that had body waxing services available locally (frankfort). Long story short, their waxes are HORRIBLE. Their waxing technique is so terrible. They will leave you sore & sensitive down there for days. When I complained that my wax job was not done completely, I was told that my next job would be on the house. Well when I returned, the job was not done correctly once again. This has me posted as San Francisco, but should be Frankfort, KY. If I could, I would give this a 4 3/4 stars. The only reason that I didn't score this a five is that I feel like a good portion of my friends wouldn't be able to justify paying as much as I did for the services I got. However, I would rate my stylist, Farlix above a five. When I first arrived, I gave him a general idea of what I was looking for, along with telling him about what I wouldn't like to see in my hair. Then I let him use his skill and creativity to create a cut and color for me. He did an amazing job of giving me a suitable, fun and flattering style and color. I am getting compliments beyond just the usually, "nice cut". People are saying things like "that really works for you" and "great coloring". The wording people use to respond to change tells much more than you might think. There really is only one thing I would change if I could have and that is I would have asked Farlix not to cut the stacked part in the back as short as it is. That said, in about two weeks it will be the perfect length, so no harm done. I definitely will be having him do my hair in the future. read more

Terrible experience. Will not go back. Booked with a specific recommended stylist weeks in advance and even rescheduled at their request to suit their schedule. Arrived early, checked in twice, both times was told my stylist was finishing up and would take me in a few minutes. After waiting 40 minutes for a stylist who was obviously behind schedule, they took their next client and I was asked if I would like to reschedule. Needless to say, I was not happy, but never rude or difficult. The receptionist went to the back to "get a manager." She came back with another stylist and informed me this is who would be cutting my hair. I normally do not let strangers cut my hair without having a reference or seeing their work and will certainly stick to that policy in the future. I gave specific instructions on how I wanted my hair cut and came out with exactly what I did NOT want. I was not offered the opportunity to schedule another appointment, comments left for them have gone ignored and other reviews deleted.
