Soon after, I found a new spot that was closer to my job at that time which made it easy for me to pop in during my lunch and get serviced. I went to my new spot today, after over 7 months of wearing bushy brows, resembling one of my fave GoT characters, Arya, who is played by Maysie Williams. Now, while I LOVE the show and adore the actor, I don't want my brows looking like two caterpillars crawled onto my face and died. Unfortunately, my brow tech was not available and I could wait no longer so I hightailed it to I Smail, knowing that I would get a decent threading done with which I'd be happy. I waited for a mere five minutes before she sat me in her chair and started on my brows. I asked for a tint since I'm going away on vacay and don't want to have to worry about sexing up my brows with makeup. I also asked for my upper lip to be waxed (no, I don't have a stache but getting the peach fuzz/baby fur removed makes makeup applications far more perfected). Afyer everything was said and done, the woman tells me it costs $32. I had to repeat the total because I was un utter disbelief. The brow threading, as stated on their menu only costs $8 and the lip wax had to be around $5 so I deduce that I paid a whopping $20 for a tinting? It's asuch a rip off to charge for henna like I was getting decorative henna on my arms. To make matter worse, she took her own tip, thinking I was giving her an $8 tip. If I had more time to waste, I would have stayed and questioned the charges but I have a baby at home and I'm her walking tap so, I was on borrowed time. After this experience, I tell you that I will never grace their threshold with my presence again. I'll just wait for my regular tech 5 minutes away on Gun Hill Rd. at Smile Beauty Salon where my brow and lip threading AND brow time cost only $16 dollars. Yes. HALF that price. I say, "Good day!" I should also include that my brows are definitely on point but like I said, I pay $16 for work that is just as good, if not better.

I get my hair colored and cut by Marije (Maria), and I love it every time. She'll always give her honest recommendation on if I should get a semi dye, permanent, and/or a hair gloss etc. and if I need a cut or can wait. If I don't need something done, she'll tell me. She won't just do the service so the salon can charge extra. Which I really appreciate! So many places just try to up-charge you for the money and don't care about your hair or experience. My hair was also very very dry from using box dye at home, but since coming to see Marije and taking her recommendations on changing my shampoos, conditioners, etc. my hair is so much better and healthier now! On top of excellent service and expertise, Marije is very nice and accommodating! Even when I text her last minute to check her availability that day for an appointment. I've also had Denada wash and deep condition my hair, and she is so so sweet. Very pleasant and friendly. I love when she does the deep conditioning and hair masks because she gives a nice head massage! Denada has also made some good recommendations on hair products as well, which I love! [Sings "Hallelujah"] I was in desperate need of a color expert after my hair was dangerous close to resembling that of Ronald McDonald's (long story). Miranda, who is the most attentive and professional stylist I have ever met, turned my brassy, orange hair into a gorgeous ash blonde color. And what's more, with Miranda's advice, my hair stayed healthy & the blonde beautiful for three months! I went and did my hair with Tina, I got balayage and haircut there and it looks SO NATURAL. She was so detail oriented and explained EVERY step of the process and set my expectations straight. I witnessed other hair stylists there as well practice the same, explaining to their clients that if they wanted something specific what to expect during the process. They educate their clients so much on expectations and that I appreciate, where as other salons I have found do not do what you ask, nor come up with alternatives if it's not possible. These people are truly experts!! She recommended so many products for my hair to keep the color looking fresh and my hair has not turned brassy at all. I go for touch ups and every time she is consistent and great. The rest of the staff is amazing, welcoming, and take excellent precautions. I had the same experience as Alex H. below except the price of my hairstyle was more than six times the price of his. They gave me a completely different style than I asked for. I have very dark brown hair and all I wanted was to lighten it to light medium brown but now it is super dark brown with white blonde streaks in it. I hate the way they made my hair look and don't even want to go outside. They kept saying "but it looks beautiful" not understanding that I did not walk in asking to make me beautiful. I walked in asking for a specific (and not complicated) type of style that looks subtle and natural, and the style they gave me is something completely different. I am very upset and honestly feel like my summer is ruined. I don't normally write reviews but if you spend over $300 on your hair, you want to know that your concerns are being taken seriously. Start it coming here when it first opened up,liked my haircut and ever since got stuck here. I even brought my wife and kids to get haircuts. The minute you walk in you get a good feeling when everyone says hello and big smiles on their faces and that is a great thing, it's makes you comfortable and not wanna go anywhere else, the second you sit down while waiting they ask you if you would like something to drink, from a cold beverages to a cappuccino or Espresso, you actually feel great about it drinking a cappuccino while waiting and a glass of water with lemon, men what else would want you actually feel like you are in a 5 star restaurant but instead it's a 5 star hair salon. I came to Delaj for a keratin treatment and I must say that it's the best treatment I've ever paid for. In addition, my experience at the salon was wonderful. The staff here are professional and very kind. And Sokol knows what he's doing! I called a few hours before my visit, making an appointment was smooth. And first time customers receive a discount, which sounded great to me! As I waited, I was impressed at how swiftly the staff attends customers. It was a bit busy at one point, but the staff's multitasking is on point! I waited a little more than I expected, but it was worth it. I'm glad I stopped by. I've recently left Riverdale as school has just ended for me, I wish the salon had existed here back when I first moved to the neighborhood. I highly recommend the salon! Went to Delaj Hair Salon for the first time on Sunday. I read all these great reviews on yelp and was still a little nervous going in. I have went to the same hair salon for 10 years but it started getting too far for me after having my son. The staff is so sweet. They welcomed me, offered me something to drink and made me feel right at home. Miranda is a hair goddess. She turned my very dark brown boxed dyed hair into a gorgeous caramel, honey balayage. I didn't even know what I wanted when I went in, I only had some ideas and she executed it perfectly. She cut my hair exactly how o wanted it and even gave me new ideas and ways to style it. I tried all the hair salons of riverdale and this is the best one . They use products of quality for the color . one place burned my skull and gave me headaches with their cheap chemicals . they don't make you pay extra for conditioner after a color as they do in another place . their conditionner make the hairs shinny and nice . they take their time when applying the color and they are not trying to save the material . in another place they apply the product with such parcimonie that some grey hairs escape . they can advise for hair cut and their suggestions worked very well for me . professionals . decoration is classy . it's expensive for me but all the places are expensive in riverdale ($70 for roots ) . 100% satisfied . read more

Sokol is absolutely amazing!!! I have a tone of hair and it's a lot of work but he always takes him time to ensure the integrity of my hair while doing my highlights. I travel over an hour to his salon and get a babysitter because his work is that outstanding!!! Thank you for always making me feel like a hot momma during theses crazy times. I also appreciate that they do consultations. If they notice that your hair is damaged, they will work with you to get your hair back to a healthy condition. Some salons will only give you the services you request, even if it's not in your best interest. I've never had that be the case at this salon. They do accept walk-ins, but I also make appointments. It is a warm, inviting atmosphere and I recommend it to anyone who asked where I get my hair done.
