This is a review for parents with kids…read more I am talking about West Valley Dance Academy. I've taken my now close to 4 year old to this studio for the past 6 months, and every day has been great! The school is owned and operated by Lisa Tran. Lisa is a mother and former dancer herself, so she understands both. Lisa teaches many classes herself, and from what I've witnessed, all the kids learn + have a lot of fun. My daughter's main teacher is Kate Newham -- and my daughter loves her! She actually asks before we go if we'll be seeing Miss Kate. Miss Kate is so kind and understanding of all the little kids needs. Many of them, as we all know, just say what's on their mind at any time. Kate always listens, but directs the kiddies back to dance. Also. At no time do the kids just run around and do what they want. Miss Kate has the innate ability to reach them, and keep them dancing. It is a wonderful sight to see, One of the other hi-lights of the school is the ability to watch your children dance, even if you are at home. Lisa sends out a link allowing one to watch their kids progress in the world of dance. Many times, I am watching my daughter from the waiting room, while my wife is viewing from work. Oh yeah, parents aren't allowed in the actual dance studio. You just wait in the comfortable lobby, and watch from there. I should also mention, if one day your little one has to miss a class, they can easily make it up another day They also sell dance shoes, and clothes, in case your tiny dancer needs it. Everything one might need is right there at the studio. I know this school takes older kids too. So don't worry about that. They also put on recitals throughout the year for the bigger kids. Can't wait for my Callie to be in one herself. I usually try to put price of classes, but since my daughter is still in the toddler stage, I can tell you that it is more than reasonable. During the pandemic, masks were required for every person who was in the building. As of right now, masks are optional. I can guarantee, if things change, Lisa will be at the forefront, and mask wearing will be mandatory once again. What I tell people looking for a dance class, is to call West Valley Dance Academy, and request an intro class, so you can see if it works for you and your family. We've been with Elite since 2016 between my two daughters, who both started dancing at age 3. Our…read moreoldest has moved on to other interests, but our 7-year-old continues with ballet and loves it. I've watched Elite grow from a smaller studio into the powerhouse it is today. Elite is an excellent dance studio, from day one through their very polished recitals. It's important to note that this is not a cutesy/playtime type of studio. Dance is a discipline, and so dress code and presentation are taken seriously. For first-timers, that might feel a little intimidating, but there's a reason behind it. Hair and makeup need to be spot-on for recitals, because there's always a chance your cute 3 or 4-year-old might get on stage and just stand there! But guess what? They'll look fantastic doing it. And then, year after year, you'll see their confidence and ability grow. As a parent, you will need to stay on top of recital packets to know who/what/where/when, and I find Elite to be very thorough in the material they send out, or if you simply call them ahead of time. Another perk.. they have a professional photographer who takes photos on stage and backstage at shows/recitals for FREE. As well as a videographer, which is very much appreciated. The owner, Toni, taught my oldest years ago and is fantastic, both as a teacher and as a business owner. Neither of my girls have ever been on team, but both have always enjoyed their classes. The teachers are wonderful with age-appropriate instruction (shout out to Miss Princess with the littles) and technique. My 7-year-old only takes one ballet class currently, yet she could not be more excited to be performing in The Nutcracker for her second year in a row. Needless to say, we love Elite!

I grew up dancing myself, so I knew I wanted to find a studio that wasn't too packed or chaotic, but somewhere that felt welcoming, personable, and where my son could really enjoy himself. His teacher, Ms. Jace, is AMAZING! She's so welcoming, patient, and just has such a beautiful way of working with toddlers. You can tell she genuinely loves what she does, and she makes the little ones feel so comfortable. We ended up picking this studio and signing our son up because it was exactly what we were looking for. From the classes they offer, to how they help the little ones transition, and just the overall vibe of the studio. Everything felt right, and I'm so so so happy we found this place! Highly recommend giving Creation Station a try.

For my daughter, we were concerned initially that due to her age but inexperience, she would have to learn with kids who were much younger than her (like three years younger than her or even more)... after her hip-hop trial, she was discouraged because she was a lot older than the other kids and yet much more inexperienced. But we expressed that to the studio and they responded so gracefully and found the perfect class for her where there are kids her age, but they are also new-ER to dance as well and my daughter is totally happy and we are loving the classes and teachers thus far. The studio has been so accommodating and very communicative and helpful! The teachers are awesome too, and you can feel the spirit of dance and creativity there. I'm hopeful about our journey there and my daughter's own journey with dance. I think if there's any place that could get her hooked to dance, it's this place.

When we addressed this with the owner she offered no remedy. During the dance recital another parent physically assaulted our child by grabbing her arm and the dance studio did little to nothing to address this and wouldn't even provide concrete info about who assaulted our child. That parent should have been removed from the facility. We will be filing charges. The studio owner was rude and indignant. I would NOT recommend you use this studio unless you want to pay a bunch of money for your child to learn next to nothing and then be charged for used and raggedy clothes (we had to have our daughter wear her outfit from last year from a different studio despite being charged). The staff will speak disrespectfully to your children and make no efforts to address concerns. They also charge $20 a ticket to go to your child's recital and won't let you record because they want you to pay for their recording. I'm disgusted that my child was put in old used clothes, treated horribly by staff, and assaulted at her recital with no action taken. Your child is not safe at this studio. They don't care about the safety and well-being of their students. They only care about getting as much money as they can without providing hardly any actual instruction.

Andrey, who is also the owner with his wife, Victoria, became my instructor. Andrey continuously teaches me everything from the basic steps to more advance spins and moves. I started on June 18th and will be finishing up sometime in mid July before my trip. He makes the scenario comfortable and professional. I realize it's important to be taught by a man, because they understand how to lead. He is extremely patience as I've never danced before. If you plan to learn how to salsa, I advise to take private lessons and record each session so you can practice at home.. this is so you can progress comfortably with each session with Andrey. I highly recommend coming here. The facility is clean, and has several rooms. Everyone is friendly and it's an enjoyable atmosphere. They of course do more than just salsa. You'll be in good hands.

There haven't been many recent reviews, especially about tai chi specifically, so I wanted to share…read moremy experience :) I've been taking tai chi classes here for about a month, and so far it's been amazing. Somehow at the end of every class, I feel happy, energized and relaxed all at once. I took tai chi about 10 years ago (Wu style short form) so I'm familiar with some of the basic concepts and stances, but it's been a long time... so it's been great to get back into it. Sigung Carrie and Sigung Jennings are the best. They're patient, professional, funny and warm. They have a lot of wisdom to share, and they really help you to learn all the details of the form as you go through it. Each class is one hour, and there are two classes per week. We spend the first ~25 minutes of each class doing warm-up exercises (which really help you to focus and connect with your body), and then the next ~35 minutes learning the next part of the form. I feel that everything progresses at a good pace, so I have enough time to practice each move / stance before moving on to the learning the next one. One thing to note is that White Lotus shares a big open space (in the JAM facility) with other tumbling / parkour / tricking classes that are going on at the same time. When I first came in to observe a tai chi class, I was a little concerned because the other class that was going on on the other side of the room was pretty loud so I thought it would be distracting. But honestly, once I joined the tai chi class and started doing the exercises and focusing on the form, I found that I barely noticed the other class happening next to us. Maybe others would be deterred by it because they'd prefer a quiet and meditative space, but I don't find it to be a major issue since I can just kind of "zone in" on whatever we're practicing. Anyway, if you're looking to learn tai chi I think this is a great place to do it! I had tried other "tai chi" classes at yoga studios in the SFV and found that they were really just yoga classes with a few random tai chi moves sprinkled in, which wasn't what I was looking for. At White Lotus, you will learn the "48 Forms of Taiji." It's a great way to build strength, balance and flexibility (and improve your mental health, too, in my experience). Come check it out if you're interested... everyone is super friendly :)

I was taken here one night during open gym by a friend who does stunt work. Fantastic gym with a…read morevariety of equipment you won't find just anywhere else. My first impression of this place is very positive, it's like a giant playground for ninjas! ;) It might be a little intimidating at the beginning, with everyone flipping and flying everywhere but there is so much room to move around it's crazy liberating. First I worked on my punches, nice how they have little doughnuts around the punching bags for uppercuts. Then watched some of the guys do some freerunning, the moves they do are so sick! The fact that they are 6-pack fit with no shirts on has absolutely NOTHING to do with my staring *ahem* observance. =p It seems like most of the people here are courteous and friendly a few Bboys even taught me some moves. I learned some basic top rock, up rock, 6 step and baby freeze. The wall of mirrors help with self-adjustment of poses and let me know how goofy I look with my arm wave. =) At the end I tried out the spring floor, jumped on the various mats they have and flopped about on the trampoline. The only gymnastic move I could do is an awkward cartwheel to my right. My uncoordinated jumps across the large blocks were landed with heavy face plants and belly-flops. The large trampoline was thrilling with how easy it was to catch so much air. I didn't even try out the scaffolding they set up because my most recent attempt at a pull-up just had me hanging with my feel dangling for a few seconds. o_O; Despite all my shortcomings as an athlete, working out at White Lotus was pure fun and had me laughing and grinning like a kid in a candy store. I have to say the $5 fee for open gym was well spent, you can't even buy a bag of popcorn at the movies for that price. She has high energy and it resonates with the group. There is a camaraderie among all in the group to make sure each of us is ok. Gail is also involved in helping the community with encouraging us to donate to people going through hard times. I find this a great outlet with the supplement of my fur babies at home. Great classes for seniors wanting to stay in shape and feel comfortable around others sharing the same experience.
