The dance steps are very easy. The music is very upbeat. Gail checks that we are getting the steps correct to get the best cardio workout. She has high energy and it resonates with the group. There is a camaraderie among all in the group to make sure each of us is ok. Gail is also involved in helping the community with encouraging us to donate to people going through hard times. If I could give Gail & Fit Squad 10 stars I would! I finally found my Zumba home, my people. Everyone is friendly and there to get down. Weekend morning workouts @ 9:30am are just enough, half hour dance, half hour weight training. I'm sore in all the right places the next couple of days. Looking to be part of a Zumba community? This studio is an entrance to a great workout. Everyone is so friendly here and Gail, the owner is truly amazing. There are little cubbies for you to place your items while you workout and there's a variety of different classes. The class really kicked my butt even though I've done Zumba before. Love the music and the energy. The only thing that I feel some people may not like is that there is like a 10 second break in between songs instead of a 55 minute continuous class. For me, personally, I really needed that break so I'm glad it was there! First timer charge is only $5 and if you want to do a drop-in class it's $12 or they offer several package deals! I hate exercise. Always have, and I probably always will. I'm not one of those people who needs to work out in order to stay sane, and I certainly don't feel energized after I work out. I just feel sweaty and tired and wish I was eating pizza instead. All those years of sloth and bad habits finally caught up with me and I was facing some pretty serious health issues. My sister referred me to Fitsquad and I decided to give it a try. I'm not going to lie - the first few months were pretty mortifying. I don't have a lot of rhythm, I was incredibly self conscious, I could never seem to get the moves right, and sometimes I thought I was going to have a heart attack right then and there. But here's the thing: It was FUN. Really fun. Eventually, I started learning the routines and the music, my cardiovascular capacity improved tremendously, and before I knew it, I was going to a few classes a week. That was more than a year ago, and I am still going (which is really saying something, because I never stick with anything). The instructors are fantastic. Each of them brings their own unique energy to the class. They are very supportive and encouraging. I am really really grateful to them for providing a fun way to get myself healthy. A year ago I weighed 148 lbs, unhappy about how I look & not able to wear the clothes that I want to wear. I went to Fitsquad LA for the first time last night. I don't live in the area and I was visiting a friend, so we went together. I take a lot of zumba classes with a lot of different instructors, I like exploring the different styles and techniques. Fitsquad has very good Zumba classes in general. Definitely a workout! I took the 7:30 class with Camille, which was very engaging and very traditional. Camille herself is very energetic and encouraging, and the music was great! I also stayed for the 8:30 class with Fredericka, and I was so surprised there wasn't too many people taking it. Barely a few. I guess 8:30 is a bit too late for some people? I would definitely recommend taking the class with Fredericka. Check it out and see for yourself. She was one of the top instructors I've taken. her approach to the class was very fluid, with very visible toning moves and a great selection of african beats and lesser known tunes that really got the workout going. Her warmup and cool down was clearly different than the typical zumba workout, you can tell she has a dance background. She was friendly, encouraging and great! I wish I lived closer to this studio! 5.. 6... 7... 8... Nope, no, not at Fitsquad LA. The choreography these girls come up with are fun and you'll absolutely feel the music. I used to have memberships at the big box gyms and their zumba classes feel like a lifeless drill team routine. Not here. As an avid yelp user for restaurants, I managed to pack on weight - my quote says it all. But wouldn't you know, yelp has great reviews on gyms too, found FSLA and grumpily made my way there (note: before FSLA, I did NOT enjoy exercise but that all changed as warranted by my gym junkie badge :-) ) It took me about 6 months to lose 15 pounds. That might not sound a lot but again I enjoy using my Yelp bookmarks. Diet Schmiet, y'all. I also dropped down a whole pant size FTW! Pricing here can be a little more than what you'd want to spend but this is what I found with my experience: attention. You need help with your body rolls or salsa? No problem - the instructors will work with you after class. Just ask. I suck at the Dreaded L during the Core Maxx class but Gail and Camille are playful yet encouraging with my inability. I can now do, um, 3 - hey it's hard! The setting is like having a personal trainer but you are surrounded by fun, energetic peeps. Everyone here is positive. And oh, FSLA has several options and packages that helped ease my commitment. I started out with their 20 visit package but quickly upgraded to the monthly unlimited so I can mix zumba with their toning classes. Yeah, I drop weights. Love this place for Zumba! So far I've only taken Gail's class, but I bought a 10 class package so looking forward to trying them all. Gail's energy, music, and choreography are so much fun and a great, sweaty workout! I've tried a few other studios and teachers in the area and this is the best I've found. The studio has great positive energy and they are very welcoming to new comers. The students come in all shapes, sizes, and ages so nothing to be intimidated about. Went to a Zumba class and was pleasantly surprised by the first-timer charge of only $5. The staff was friendly and the class started on time. Large free parking lot behind the studio. The downsides: the teacher stops the music in between songs, rather than having a set playlist that keeps you going. The music all sounds the same - no variety (hip hop, oldies, pop). I've been spoiled by Rosie at Queen Bee's in San Diego - no other Zumba class has come close. read more

I have been following these Zumba instructors (Gail and Camille) since 2009! And I was so happy when they finally got their own studio!!! Gail and Camille along with the other instructors in the team are such great teachers not only to get you to move but to inspire to push yourself for the better. They have always been an inspiration to me when it comes to fitness. For most of the people who come to the studio, this place has become a community. It has a very warm and friendly atmosphere with a push to keep yourself going (in a good way)! I took a Zumba class here recently. I'm on a search to find the right Zumba place for me. If it is your first time it is $5. They don't wait, they start right on time. They will actually give you a warning of how long until they start. If you have never done zumba before, no worries, just follow along. Some people have been doing it longer and it is obvious because they know the moves, so you end up just following everyone. I felt like this class was mostly dance focused, there was so cardio with the dancing, but there was a lot of dance moves along. They also had some really good songs, very Top 40, and some latin dance songs. There was also a Bollywood style song, which was so much fun to do, a lot of hip movements. Overall it was really fun. If you like mostly dancing, learning a few new moves while doing some cardio, you will like this place. Very young crowd too, it seemed like a lot of college students here. read more

Can't say enough about this studio! The teachers are fantastic - They are warm, friendly, upbeat and fun. The dance routines are designed well, with the perfect amount of challenge for all levels of students. Frankly, I generally hate exercising, but if I can keep my mind and my heart engaged and have fun, then that makes all the difference and keeps me coming back. I'll admit that I felt like a dope for my first couple of classes, simply because they move fast and I didn't yet know the steps, but the teachers are so encouraging, and ultimately I realized nobody was looking at me, so I quickly got over that insecurity. I absolutely love fitsquad la- i am what you would call a workout addict- i run, play volleyball, go to the gym- you name it so I was looking to change up my workouts but still get a challenge and i found it with Zumba. Camille's classes are amazing, she makes you sweat like crazy and challenges me every class and I always know I am going to have fun but still get a good workout when I go to a class with super spunky Madison. I wasn't even trying to lose weight or get into better shape but from doing zumba with fitsquda for a year and a half I have lost weight, dropped an entire pants size and now when I go running I find I can push myself farther. I also had two left feet when i started- I could barely do a simple salsa, but now i can do all sorts of dance moves I never thought possible! The great thing about zumba is that you can just be yourself- I always forget about whatever stresses I have in my work life and personal life and just let the music take over. I am the crazy girl in the front row who is always jumping the highest and "zooming" across the room but I know I can do it without judgement and embarassment.
